4/5 Stars. I’m a sucker for the red string of fate trope and this manga did not disappoint. Ugh, I need more! The fated connection between Jigeon and Wooseo is easy to root for, though I feel like this started off a little creepy. Nevertheless, I like the age-gap and relationship dynamic going on between the two of them. I know Jiseok and Jigeon are supposed to look alike, they’re brothers, and it implies that they’re quite similar, but I really did struggle to tell all three of them apart throughout the story. At least Wooseo has smooth-er hair, but still. All in all I liked it and I wouldn’t mind reading volume 2. Thank you Yen Press, Ize Press, Chelliace, What, and NetGalley for providing an eARC for review!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
A sweet and romantic first volume of this manga about a boy who is fated to his best friend's older brother- a best friend who he happens to already be in love with. I like the theme of the red thread of fate, and I think it was done well in this volume. I was so absorbed in the story that I was shocked when it was over! I'm intrigued by the dynamic of the characters, and the bittersweetness of unrequited love.
I am so excited to read future volumes of this! I think the plot is very interesting and reminds me of the red string of fate theory. I am interested in seeing how their relation will progress as well as what will happen with the brother/best friend.
Oh the drama is strong in this one! I LOVED it. I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't this. That is not a complaint, that is a very good thing.
I don't read a lot of BL, I am dipping my toe into the waters to see if I like the temperature, and YES, yes I DO.
The yearning, the unrequited love, the confusion and heartache. I was THERE for it. I also like that the characters are all college age or older. I prefer more mature characters in my love stories. Since I am an adult, I like to see the characters dealing with real world adult problems like bills and grades and work. I'm kind of over school fairs and fireworks displays. Those things are ok once in a while, but I need more serious issues that the characters have to tussle with.
4, I so incredibly need to read the next volume as soon as I can get my hands on it, stars.
My thanks to NetGalley and Yen Press/Ize Press for an eARC of this book to read and review.
Tied to You, Vol. 1 was super cute! When a ring appears on your finger, it means that you've come into contact with your soulmate... but neither can sleep without the other beside them. One day, a ring appears on Shin Wooseo's finger and he finds out that Kang Jigeon is his soulmate. The only problem is that Jigeon is Wooseo's best friend Jiseok's older brother... and Wooseo likes Jiseok! To resolve their insomnia, Jigeon suggests that they start sharing a bed and the two become closer as time goes on but Wooseo still only has eyes for Jiseok. Tied to You is about how Wooseo must navigate his feelings between the two brothers.
I want more! I was hoping this volume would just continue forever and I'd get to see how Wooseo and Jigeon continue their complicated relationship and deal with the complications that come with the ring. This is such a unique idea for a story and the art is beautiful. Even though Wooseo has feelings for Jiseok, I'm definitely rooting for him and Jigeon, they're just too cute! I think in the next volume Wooseo will begin to see Jigeon in a different light, or at least I hope he will. Jigeon is so sweet to Wooseo and you can tell that he likes him a lot. I can't wait to read the next volume!
This has a delicious premise! The forced-prox, sleep together in one bed, unrequited love vibes are just wonderful! Not to mention there is going to be possessiveness and I am here for that! The colouring illustrations were such a treat that you don't often see and they are just stunning to look at!!
5/5
THIS BOOK IS WILD, in a good way.
I enjoyed the concept and drama of this story. I would love to watch this as a kdrama. It was so good I am the most hype for volume 2. The characters are loveable and fun to read. The story took something I’ve heard of before and made its own. I am excited to see if Wooseo tries to fight having his soulmate or learns to love him.
Wooseo is in love with his best friend Jiseok but there are soul mates in this world. When you touch your person you both get a red ring of thread around your finger. This means you bumped into your soulmate. Only problem is Wooseo bumped into Jigeon….Jiseok’s older brother. You would think that’s fine, but when you find your soulmate, you have to sleep with them (not in the way literally just sleep) holding hands or you will both have insomnia.
Wooseo obviously doesn’t want to tell his best friend, so the drama and antics start there.
Tied to you has ana amazing concept that the creators have beautifully incorporated in the plot. There are three people in the story, one our main character is in love with and the other who is in love with the MC and is now bound to him via the red thread. Keeping it a secret from his best friend he has a crush on is a little difficult when said best friend older sibling is the one you are tied to with now. It's just the first volume and the story is just starting and I can see some of the drama happening in the next volumes. For a first volume, it does an amazing job. I liked the artwork and the characters.
This was such a good story, and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to see how it will continue. Thank you Netgalley for an arc of this manga. Apologizes for the post being so late.
The red sting of fate and soulmates are my favourite tropes! I really enjoyed this manga. It is a slowly developing love story between a guy and his best friend’s older brother. Would have made it easier for him if it was his best friend that he is in love with.

4.5 🌟
I loved the concept of this book! The artwork is great, the plot is perfection and the tension is amazing. I enjoyed the characters relationships and will absolutely be continuing with volume 2!
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I did feel like the characters looked somewhat similar, and sometimes with that and the different time POVs, I found myself just a tad lost and had to reorient myself.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I want to start by saying that this series seems like it will be very short - as it's only 64 chapters in it's complete form so it should be a fairly short one to binge or collect which is always nice. Also, I love the idea of the red thread of fate, I've read a lot of manga/manhwa where this is a theme and it never seems to disappoint. I love that we are getting more Boys Love comics and it's always nice when they are in full color.
I think my biggest "issue" with the story was just that I felt so bad for the characters. I thought the premise was interesting, but I felt so bad that the main characters "fated mate/person" was his crushes brother. I'm not a huge fan of the sibling trope, and this took that to an ever higher level because of the fact that they basically were forced to be together. Now don't get me wrong, it does start to go in a good direction, but initially I just felt bad for everyone involved.
Overall, this was a good story that a lot of people will probably enjoy. I will probably continue the series myself, but it's not one that I'll be in a rush to continue.
They say that if you are a fan of series like The Red Thread and The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter that you will probably like this one - which I'm not sure I 100% agree with. The Red Thread yes, because the stories are more similar, but I really love the Red Thread and I only found this one to be ok. I'm a huge fan of The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter, but that story takes a more fantasy aspect than this story. These are my personal opinions, so take that with a grain of salt.
Thanks to #NetGalley for an e-copy of #TiedtoYouVol1 to read and review.
This is a very cute and sweet manga romance with the red string of fate trope. I’ve never read a romance like this before but we intrigued from the start and it didn’t disappoint on that front. I really enjoyed learning about how the characters were going to navigate their situation but couldn’t quite feel connected to them in any significant way which took me out of the story at times. I would continue with the series though because I’d like to see how the author continues the story and see the romance develop more.
I need volume two RIGHT NOW.
I started this story a little confused because I didn't know where it was going to go, I didn't really understand this thing about being 'linked' to another person, but that's what happens to me for being anxious and not waiting for them to tell us a little more. Here I am.
Tied to you is a BL story with a hint of fantasy that invites us to learn about the story of two brothers and a young man who seems to be involved in an unpleasant situation.
It is a light story, fun to read and that I am sure will give us more than a sigh throughout the manga.
Thank you Yen Press for the digital copy that I read on NetGalley.
I loved the story. I felt so bad for both of the main characters. Unrequited love is harsh and I’m sure it’s even harder when you have to watch that person pine over someone else.
I really enjoyed the fate rings aspect of the story. It’s so unlike anything else I’ve read. The effects it has on people if they aren’t with their fated loves seems almost trivial at first, but is horrible if you really consider it.
I need to read the next one as soon as it’s available. I have to know what happens!
Tied to You (Volume 1) by Art by WHAT, Original story by Chelliace is a manga style graphic novel. Wooseo Shin was never one to believe in fate, until a ring of red thread appears around his finger that is! This ring marks a person’s meeting of their soulmate, and with it, neither can fall asleep if the other is absent. This development is not a welcome one for Wooseo, who decides to keep it from his close friend and crush Jiseok Kang at all costs. Because as fate would have it, the person with Wooseo’s matching set is Jigeon Kang—Jiseok’s older brother! When Jigeon proposes that they start sharing a bed, if only to combat their joint insomnia, Wooseo reluctantly accepts. As the two spend more and more time together, feelings start to get messy. Will Wooseo be able to survive his new life tangled up in between these two brothers?!
Tied to You is a well drawn and written story that left me eager for the next volume. I enjoyed getting to know the three major players in this little triangle. I feel like I understand Wooseo and Jigeon, and a bit of where they are coming from and how they feel. I liked getting the multiple points of view and the way things all come together. I love how careful they all are with each other- even in arguments and misunderstandings they never purposefully cause harm to each other, which is a nice change from some of the darker romance that I have read. I wish I had more than hints as to how Jiseok felt- and that I had the next volume in my hands already.
Thank you Yen Press for the e-book. This is a mánhwa I've been wanting to read and I was ecstatic that I got to read it.
Tied to You is about Wooseo Shin who doesn't believe in fate but ends getting a ring of red thread that ties him to Jigeon Kang. The this is that Wooseo Shin is in love with Jiseok Kang.
I liked the idea of the red string of fate. While reading the manhwa I felt bad for Wooseo Shin because of his one sided love. But then I I found out what he did and I'm on the fence of liking him. I'm happy that we got Jigeon Kang pov. This helped get a better understanding of how he felt about Wooseo Shin.
I enjoyed Tied to You but had mixed feelings about it. I didn't like that Wooseo Shin kissed someone without their consent. Another this that Jigeon Kang is kinda manipulative and toxic.
**Thank you, NetGalley, for sending an ARC of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
This is my first time doing an ARC review for a BL manhwa, and I'm beyond excited for the opportunity! Let this be the first one out of many 🥹.
It's valid to point out that the translation was really good, and it was easy to follow the story. 'Tied to you' is the first BL manhwa this publishing house is licensing. It's definitely an interesting pick, however, I still considered it a great success for us BL fans. I hope to see more BL titles with official translations soon!
Although this was only the first volume, and it left me with more questions than answers, I found the premise very intriguing:
We have the old 'fated lovers' troupe with a red thread tying them together (it's a ring here, but it's basically the same concept). This is a nice touch for the world building, but it's in the background in this volume and it works only as a catalyzer to get things moving. The situation is quite complicated with a third party (presumably) in the equation. I'm not a big fan of love triangles, but fortunately, that's not what's happening here.
MC is in love with his best friend since his teenage years, but he's not doing anything about it and the other party doesn't seem to know or reciprocate. ML is that friend's older brother 🤡. He also has a crush on MC, but considering he's way older and he knew about MC's feelings, he never held hopes. It's sad and frustrating. I'm unsure how things will turned out.
The ring that tied them as fated lovers gave ML the right excuse to act on his desires. Some questionable decisions were made, and he's not what you could call a green flag (on the contrary, he's a bit toxic), but on some level it was understandable and also necessary, if only to get MC to realize his friend doesn't deserve his love (the guy sounds too perfect to be true, and it's actually sus how he gives him mixed signals).
I liked how the story was introduced in this first volume. The characters had their thought process well portrayed; it gave them some complexity, making it easy to sympathize.
PS: I'm anxiously waiting for the next volume to get all the answers 😗.
I received an eARC of this title through NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I was pleasantly surprised by this title. I was worried it was going to be a one shot and rushed, however, it is a multi-volume story. The characters are interesting and have their own motivations for doing what they do. I sense a love triangle coming in volume 2 though, which is not always my favorite thing.
I will say, I was worried by the age gap, 7 years, however, I appreciated the older character wanting to pull away from the younger character when he knew them in high school as that comes off as icky. However, the only reason he started pursuing the younger main character was after he realized they were tied together and the younger character is already in college. There's still a weird power dynamic, but so far it's been pretty innocent. But if that's not your thing, then I would steer clear of this book.
The world and plot is interesting. I'm curious to get more into the red ring and what is behind that or if it's just a folklore come true. Hopefully it stays pretty innocent, as that is the only way I would continue this series.
I waffled back and forth between really liking this book and just thinking it's okay. I think the non-linear nature of how the story was laid out was a major factor. Stripping it down to the relationship between Wooseo, Jigeon, and Jiseok, that was easier to understand. This is a good manhwa for those who want some boys' love, but without the smut or hardcore sex. It was sweet, albeit a smidgen messed up.
