Let's be honest... I borrowed this book from Netgalley before I actually started reviewing books. (Think 2013 at 18 years old.) I'm now 30 and much more serious about my book reviews so I apologize for never formally reviewing this book.

I requested this several years ago and I don't think it's a book for me anymore. So I will not be reviewing at this time, but if I do read it, I will update this review. Thank you for the opportunity.

This book was requested when I was young and requested more books than I could possibly read. Sadly, I no longer have access to this book and my tastes have changed. Thus I will not be able to give feedback on this title.

I got accepted to review this book years ago, but unfortunately never got around to reading it. Apologies for this.

When I first got this, I was super excited about the book. But unfortunately, I'm no longer interested in reading it at this point and I don't want to hold onto it any longer.

The first half was slow but the mystery that surrounded the plot kept me intrigued. Hundreds of years old curse, a prophecy, voodoo magic, teenage angst. The story ended on a cliffhanger, well built up for the second book. While the pace was patchy, the premise and the story and plot being woven was strong.
There was something lacking with the character development. I just didn’t connect nor care much for the characters. Some especially felt very flat or one dimensional. Which lead me to problems with the romance, one of those lopsided love triangles.
