Wow! This is exactly what I was hoping for!

I love bar cookies and I tried out a lot of recipes over the last decade. Often when I open a new baking book I see a majority of recipes I already tried but this little book here really surprised me! There were so many recipes I need to try immediately like the Banana Bread Brownies and the Passion Fruit Slice!

Of course there are also staples and introductions to baking for less experienced bakers so this book truly has it all!

I’ll definitely get myself a copy of this gem when it’s released!!

A big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher Chronicle Books for giving me the opportunity to read an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

How do bakers keep coming up with new ideas? One of Sarah Kieffer's baking books is already on my cookbook shelf. I'm gonna need a bigger shelf. There was a lot of great recipes in this book, although I felt that it could have used more, just seemed a bit short. As always with Kieffer's books, it was easy to read and put to use! I can't wait for the Chocolate Chip Buttermilk Cake! I thank NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the advance read and the few extra pounds!

I first discovered Sarah Kieffer in 2020 when, like everyone else, I was stuck at home and decided to do some baking. Thus, I made my way through her book, 100 Cookies, trying a new cookie recipe every week or so. Needless to say I became very popular with my family and neighbors, and my baking skills improved as well. Then in 2021, she released Baking for the Holidays, which was a winner as well. Just as with her previous two books, 100 Afternoon Sweets is full of delicious recipes, accompanied by gorgeous pictures and detailed but not overly complicated directions. I also appreciate that each recipe has a little story behind why Sarah loves it. I received an advanced digital copy of this in exchange for my honest review, and I can't wait to buy my own copy this Fall to add to my ever growing Sarah Kieffer collection.

100 Afternoon Sweets focuses on sweets of all kinds for all occasions.

The Sections are
One-Bowl Bakes
Brownies, Blondies, and Bars
Pie Bakes
No Bakes
For a Crowd
Weekend Projects
Beginnings and Ends
Extras

Each recipe has a little blurb about the recipe, servings, ingredients, directions, and a picture of the recipe. Recipes include U.S. measurements and measurements in weight.

There are sooooo many good recipes. I don’t even think I can chose a favorite from each section.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another favorite from Sarah Kieffer!! This might be the best one yet. Every recipe is so well done and I can't wait to try them. The "no bake" and "one bowl" chapters will be so fun to work through with my toddler! This is a beautiful and well thought out book that would make a great gift for any baker during the holidays.

I can't wait to add the physical copy to my collection. Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. It felt like Christmas seeing this appear on my app!

Another delightful book of fantastic recipes by Sarah Kieffer! This lovely read is chock full of delicious bakes and mouthwatering photos, making it tough to decide what to start with. I love how the book is organized and accessible - one pan recipes, enough for a crowd, weekend projects… just awesome. Now, as someone who enjoys savory bakes, that’s the one thing missing for me that I think 100 Morning Bakes included, but maybe Sarah’s next book will feature more? Fingers crossed. Thanks so much to the author/baker, Chronicle Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity!

This cookbook is pure gold! My daughter was home sick so we made the giant pop tarts and they were a hit! I love the way the cookbook is displayed and organized as well. This made it easy to find exactly what I was feeling like making. I appreciated the gorgeous photos as I am definitely a visual baker.
This is a must buy and I am so thankful to have gotten the chance to try it!

Love the idea of an “afternoon sweet” ✨

The recipe typography and photos were simple and stylized wonderfully.

Here are some of the recipes I dog-eared to try immediately:

🤍 Raspberry Poppy Seed Cake
🤍 Passion Fruit S’mores Pie
🤍 Pumpkin Caramel Ice Cream Cake
🤍 Kitchen Sink Crispy Treats
🤍 Giant Pop Tart (!!!)

The music to bake to playlist was a super cute touch, too!

100 Cookies was such a hit - I was thrilled to see that Sarah would be releasing yet another cookbook. Love that each recipe has a corresponding photo - such a great component to a cookbook. Looking forward to making so many of the recipes from the one bowl & brownies/bars sections! Can't wait to add 100 Afternoon Sweets to my growing collection of Sarah's fabulous cookbooks.

I have an unrelenting sweet tooth, so I was excited to read this cookbook!

The book is divided into an introductory section with cooking and ingredient tips and then into seven categories of recipes. Most recipes are 9-12 servings, but the author includes a ‘For a Crowd’ section with up to 24 servings. I wish there were estimates on cooking times for each recipe, but the author, Sarah Kieffer, includes all of the weights for each ingredient, which I love since that is my preferred way to measure for baking. The first recipe section is ‘One-Bowl Bakes’ which is mainly snacking cakes. I would say that that section had the fewest recipes that appealed to me because I am not much of a cake person. The ‘Brownies, Blondies and Bars’ was my favorite section, with at least six recipes I immediately added to my to-bake list. The ' Pie Bakes’ were creative and had some unique ideas; I think they would be great for baking for guests or to take to dinners with friends. I was surprised to find the ‘Extras’ section so useful. I will be referring to this section often!

I received an advanced copy of this book through Net Galley.

I am one who is always searching for easy and delicious desert recipes. This book has many, my favorite that I will be making soon is the Cheater Croissant Dough, croissant are a delicacy that I found making intimidating so I’ve never even tried. But this recipe feels right for a croissant making newbie like me.

Another beautiful cookbook from Sarah Kieffer. Full of delicious sounding recipes each with an accompanying hunger-inducing, diet-wrecking photo. In her previous book her recipe for banana bread is the best I’ve ever made so I can’t wait to dive into the recipes in this one. It starts with a chapter on how to use the cookbook including equipment, oven temperatures, etc. then moves on to the recipes that are divided up into type: snack cakes, pies, bars, etc. I can’t wait to make the banana bread bars, milk chocolate swirl brownies, oatmeal fudge bars, and blueberry muffin cake among several others. She gives clear instructions so I think this cookbook will appeal to both novice and experienced bakers. I’d definitely buy a copy for myself or as a gift.
