I enjoyed this book a lot! I was gripped from the beginning, and it kept me hooked the entire time. I finished the book pretty quickly, because I couldn't wait to find out how it all ended. The ending was great, filled with twists and turns that I hadn't been expecting. This was my first book by this author, and I look forward to reading more from her!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy of The Wife at the Window. It took awhile to get into this book, the characters were not kind except for Emerson, I rooted for her Alllll the way. Once I got hooked, I couldn’t put it down, very good plot. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you will guess the ending and it was a good one!! Only thing was, we never found out about Emerson and Leo, that was left wide open and made it disappointing.
Thank you, NetGalley, Bookouture and Cara Reinard for this ARC.
This is my first book by this author and I will probably look more from her.
I found this book an interesting read, I felt the first half was very fast paced but the second half started to drag and the ending was not what I expected. I can't say that I hate the ending but I did find it a bit of a disappointment. I expected so much more from it and it felt kind of rushed. As if the author knew the book had to end so threw the ending together at the last moment.
Let's talk characters:
Emerson: Her story was sad, but I did find her annoying at times. I guess it makes sense since she did lose a child and has been through a lot.
Shep: Grow a back bone!
Talia: Typical homewrecker mind frame. Now she annoyed me. Her relationship with her father was toxic and odd.
Brooks: What is his story?! There was no way to really get to know him.
This is a great read for those who enjoy pysch thrillers and characters that they can hate. I just wish the ending was a little different. It just didn't make sense to me.
Well I got hooked by the description and then hooked by the book. What a fantastic read
I loved this book .could not put it down
Thanks for the opportunity to review Netgalley and Bookouture
Omg how good was this book?! I couldnt out it down. I loved everything about it from the plot to the characters to the pacing. It was all executed perfectly. The characters were all original and well crafted. The whole time I was kept on my toes and couldn't predict what was going to happen next and the end twists had my jaw on the floor. Really enjoyed it
I found this to be a slow burner but enjoyable once it got going. I wasn't sure who to trust, if any of them and everytime I saw the name Shep, I thought of Blue Peter (showing my age!). The ending was satisfying and it's an author I'd be keen to read more of in future.
Engaging, fast-paced plot with surprising shocks throughout. It’s told from the POV of the two FMCs and full of wicked, vindictive characters. The ending tied everything together but was somewhat unbelievable and over the top which was disappointing since the rest of the book was really good.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is an intriguing story about a mother who is released from a mental health hospital after a tragic accident that caused the death of her baby girl. She firmly believes that someone was present on the night of the accident, but no one believes her. The story captures your attention and hooks you in. Emerson is held responsible for the accident and is hospitalized. Later on, she is released, but Shep Emerson's ex-husband's new girlfriend, Talia, is determined to prevent Emerson from seeing her son, Leo, ever again. The main characters are well-developed, and there are also secondary characters who are equally intriguing... Overall, it was a decent read with a surprising twist at the end.
Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for the eARC.
A good read with well developed characters that kept me involved from the very beginning, a great twisty page turner which I can thoroughly recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
Completely addictive--check. Gripping psychological thriller--check. Jaw-dropping twist--check. This book is everything that was promised and more.
There are a lot of unanswered questions throughout the story, and how sane the main character, Emerson, is appears to be debatable--although I came to like her more than the others. I hoped that the author, Cara Reinard, didn't suddenly pull the rug out from under my feet and show me she was totally delusional by the end; things like that do happen in books like this! Sometimes people like Talia, who I really disliked, have another side that suddenly becomes apparent. (I refuse to say one way or the other!)
By the end things are neatly wrapped up in a way I never saw coming. 5 stars!
The Wife at the Window had me hooked from the very beginning. This book had my heart racing the entire time and I was terrified trying to figure out what was going to happen.
The characters were very well developed and the plot was well written too. Just when I thought that I knew what was going to happen, think again.
I can't wait to read other books from this author.
This is a thrilling read about a mother being released from a mental health hospital after a tragic accident that caused the death of her daughter. She is convinced someone was there that night but no one believes her and as she tries to get visitation to see her son her nightmares return and she has a fight to get back her life. Is she sick or is something more horrific happening? Great story.
An ok read for me, it took me a while to become engaged with the storyline.
If you enjoy a good suspenseful read with just enough twists then this is one for you.
Did not quite hit the mark for me.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

Enjoyable read! Kept me engaged throughout. Definitely surprised by the twists and turns! Disappointment in that it seemed to end in a rushed way.
Definitely now interested in reading other books written by this author!
Thank you to author, publisher, NetGalley for advanced audio copy. This is an honest voluntary review.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Wife at the Window by Cara Reinard due to be published June 17, 2024.
Shep and Emerson had a good marriage and two beautiful children, Leo and Thea. When something happens to Thea, Emerson is blamed and hospitalized. Emerson is out, but Shep’s new girlfriend, Talia, is determined Emerson will never see Leo again. What lengths will she go to keep that from happening?
The Wife at the Window had me hooked from the first chapter. The main characters were very well developed, but there were secondary characters that were equally as good. Brooks, Emerson’s lawyer friend, was totally shady. Talia’s work partners seemed to be friendly, but were they? The husband Shep and Talia were both conniving and had multiple secrets. Not a good way for a relationship to grow.
Throw in someone trying to purchase Emerson’s “haunted” house, an ending that will shock you, and it makes for a wonderful psychological thriller that you do not want to miss!

Great debut! Emerson was sent to a psych hospital once she killed her daughter. Now she is out and seeking visitation of her son. Shep has moved on with Talia, who will do anything to keep Emerson out of the picture: including lying, hiring private detectives, and going against court orders. But it turns out Talia is not the only enemy Emerson has! What really happened the night her daughter died. And who are these other people out to make sure she never sees her son. Wonderful book!
This is so good and such a fun read that I read it straight through. After a year or so of finding every thriller to fit in that “popcorn thriller” category with poor storyline’s, no depth and poor writing this is the first book that has really hit the mark! My first book by this author, but not my last. Wicked!!!
Someone wants it all and when they have it, they will do anything to keep it at any cost.
There is someone out for revenge and when they feel the time is right, they go for it.
They don't take any prisoners. Those who suffer in the process, are considered collateral damage.
It's you against the world, because nobody believes you. When you need them the most, there is always that one friend who will have your back.
I felt terribly sorry for Emmerson and I disliked Shep very much. He really is one selfish so and so.
The author created a great story I enjoyed reading very much. I was very pleased that, in the end, everybody got what they deserved. 5 stars
Thank you
Oh my god this book is terrifying! I am literally in shock. My heart was pounding throughout honestly I was so scared.
I had my finger's crossed that Emmerson good her happy ending that she desperately deserved so I sped through this. In a matter of hour's I'd reached the end. What an absolutely outstanding book that captures your attention and hooks you in. I definitely feel this book will be one I remember forever.
This book is excellent. I read it very fast. It has many twists and turns. If you love psychological suspense and families in turmoil you will love this one.
