I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
I LOVED this book! This is my first read from Lindsey Cord, but it will not be my last. Penn and Darcy are such wonderful characters. They hook you in from the moment they meet. The chemistry and banter are top notch. This story is a great rom com with some added Gilmore Girl vibes. I loved the side characters and closeness of the town so much! I truly did not want this book to end and cannot wait to read another title from the author. I will recommend to others as well.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.
This was a really cute closed door rom-com perfect for lovers off How to Lose a Guy in 10 days! There was something nostalgic about this story and it was a joy to read!
While the novel offers a cozy escape, some of the plot points feel predictable, and the pacing can drag at times, especially in the slower middle sections. However, the witty banter and adorable side characters, including Darcy’s hedgehog, Bernie, give the story a lighthearted feel. It’s perfect for readers who love slow-burn romance with a side of small-town charm, but it may not stand out in the crowded field of contemporary rom-coms.
Overall, it’s a sweet, enjoyable read, but not without its familiar tropes.
Really enjoyed this book. It felt like a cosy hug from start to finish. A great read for those who are fans of Gilmore Girls and Hart of Dixie. Loved the pop culture references and the character development throughout the book. I wished there was more of a slow burn between Darcy and Penn- it felt a little rushed for me. However would recommend for a fun, enjoyable and entertaining read!

Thank you to the author Lindsey Cord, the publisher Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and NetGalley for proving me an arc in exchange for an honest review.
The dramatics! This book had me giggling the whole time. I loved the banter between Darcy and Penn, especially when they first met. This is a cute small town romance with nosey neighbors and corporate grumps.
The story of Darcy and Penn. Darcy lives in the small town that Penn is set to change with his secret plans. But falling for her along the way was not supposed to happen. I liked how it was told from other points of view.
This was a cute small town romcom that gives a Gilmore Girls vibe. I didn’t realize when I requested this ARC that it was the second in the series, but it was fine to read as a standalone.
Overall, this book wasn’t my favorite, something about the story was off for me. The ending was a little long, and a bunch of life milestones were randomly thrown into the story when the author could have focused on the happiness surrounding the hardware store and it would’ve been fine. On top of that, the main characters were a little annoying and immature at times. However, I wouldn’t say it was a bad read.
I loved watching Penn and Darcy's relationship develop, and I relished all the antics. After I started reading, I discovered that this is actually book two, but happily, that doesn't take away from the enjoyment or comprehension of the plot if you have read book one.
I'm eager to read more of this author's writing.
Thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing for the ARC!
Well, this was just adorable. Darcy and Penn had really good banter and I had a very fun time reading this. Seeing her try to chase him away was so funny and I loved it.
I received an arc through netgalley.
Love a small town story? Check out NO VACANCY by Lindsey Cord!
This adorable rom-com is filled with likable characters, lots of banter and a cozy environment. This is one unhinged rom-com!
I enjoyed all the antics and loved seeing Darcy and Penn's relationship blossom. I would recommend just going with the silly antics and suspend belief for a little while - you'll love the story even more that way.
I would have loved more sweet moments between our lovers but found this to be an enjoyable, light, closed-door romance read
Thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing for the ARC! Opinions are my own
Such a comfortable, cozy read!
I realized after I began reading that this is actually book two, but thankfully reading the first does not affect the understanding or enjoyment of the story.
I don’t usually like the misunderstandings that come hand in hand with most romcoms, but this one was done so well.
I’m looking forward to reading more of this authors works and it also put me in the mood to read Anne of Green Gables
This was a great book! I thoroughly enjoyed the setting and the writing style. The chemistry and personality of Darcy and Penn was great! Thank you for allowing to read and review this ARC!
This can be read standalone! At least that's what I did. I loved the premise of Gilmore Girls + How to Lose a Guy in 10 days! One of my favorite shows plus one of my favorite movies? Yes please! Who doesn't love a small town feel like stars hollow. Aveline even had town meetings. I loved the short chapters in this book. I flew through the first 80%, but then for some reason the ending dragged a bit for me. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it anymore? I don't know. But it's a good lighthearted rom-com and I'd read this author again.
Thanks for the arc in exchange for my review!
This was the most perfect small-town romance with all the Gilmore Girls/Hallmark vibes! Penn and Darcy's story was absolute chaos in the best of ways and I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. The chapters were short making you want to just keep going and going until you've reached the end before you know it! I definitely need to return to this little town and get to know the other characters in more depth because it is just so loveable!
Umm, yes please!! This was soo good! Plot was entertaining and kept thing’s moving along nicely. A little spice here and there was nice too. All in all, a great book.
I’m sorry, this book wasn’t for me. I appreciated the cute little town but it just steamrolled too fast and the dialogue was way too on the nose for me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC Review
Let me start with this the opening line of the book description for this book:
“A GILMORE GIRLS MEETS HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS BATTLE ROYALE.”
How could I not want to read this book, these are both favorites!! The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days references and similarities were hilarious! I was laughing out loud at so many of the scenes were the FMC and the MMC were trying to trick each other into liking them. Some favorites were:
🚙🦶Car scene at the beginning
🎵🎫 Taylor Swift Concert
🧑🍳🥖 Waitress/choking scene
🩷👩🏼 The smother
Lots of cute small town vibes with nosey neighbors and all. Overall this book was very comedic while heartwarming at the same time!!
Thank you to the author Lindsey Cord and Net Galley for the electronic advanced copy of the book!
I would like to thank netgalley and the author for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
No interest in characters.
Penn & Darcy’s story gave me Gilmore Girls & How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days vibes – in the best possible way because those are 2 of my favorites!
Stars: 5/5
Spice: 0/5 (Fade-to-Black)
When Penn shows up to Darcy’s quirky small town of Aveline, she immediately thinks he’s hiding the truth about why he’s in town. And when she realizes he’s interested in buying her dad’s hardware store, Darcy will do anything she can to keep that from happening.
This is the first book I’ve read by Lindsey, and I will be reading more! I thought this story was absolutely hilarious! It was full of little moments that kept me giggling and kicking my feet the whole way through. If you love Gilmore Girls, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, or rom-coms from that era in general, you should give this book a try!
