Roping Her Heart is a well written romance. I enjoyed the plot and the well developed characters. I recommend this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Jack is working so hard to get his ranch back to where it used to be and get it out of debt, thanks to his father. Madison is great at what she does but she isn’t happy and is determined to prevent her horse from being sold. Madison goes into hiding and falls in love with the town, people, and one person in particular. Will things work out for everyone or will hearts be broken and people give up? I was given a copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Cute romance story with no spice or steamy moments. I would recommend for those that are easily offended by sex scenes.
A lovely sweet small town country read from a new author. Perfect afternoon read, horses and romance with a bad guy thrown in. Very enjoyable.
This was a delightful country read with a very heart warming romance within. I really enjoyed the characters and although 3rd person POV isn't my favourite, I found it still easy and enjoyable to read.
This book was exactly what I needed after a bit of a reading slump. A low stakes, closed door romance. I’m a huge fan of small town cowboy romances and bonus points for this one also having horses. I really enjoyed the equestrian element. It was written beautifully and I finished it in a day. Both Madison and Jack are lovable characters and I loved seeing their friendship grow when they were determined to hate each other. The slow burn was perfect. I also really liked that both Madison and Jack grow as people individually. The ending was the dream. There are so many amazing side characters but they are written so well it’s easy to keep track of them. I look forward to hopefully seeing some of their stories in this series.
Roping Her Heart by CJ Hackland is a heartwarming small-town romance about a cowboy trying to save his family ranch and a high-level equestrian on the run. Their worlds would never have collided, until she needed a place to hide her top-class competition horse. I fell in love with this story from chapter one and enjoyed it until the very end.
Madison James discovers that her fiancé plans on selling her beloved horse, London. She flees with the 3 million dollar horse and her headstrong horse, Breeze, prepared to give up her entitled life and her ability to compete at the elite level.
Jack Coleman is a struggling rancher trying to return his family ranch to its former glory after his father ran it into debt and despair.
These two soon find themselves as neighbours, and things don't go well at first. However, when sparks fly between them, they realize that they have some things in common. A friendship is formed, but secrets still keep them in their different worlds.
I enjoyed this book, I definitely got into it the more it went on. I'm not sure if it was the story being written in 3rd person or something else but I did struggle to get into it but I always wanted to know what happened.
This book is a cute closed door romance and enjoyed it just wasn't one of my favourites.
I have been looking for a closed door cowboy romance and this was just what I wanted! The story was very addictive and I finished it in a day. And the romance was so sweet!
I got sucked into Roping Her Heart right away and I finished it too quickly.
Madison James has just came out of a horse competition as a winner when she finds out her fiancé has planned to sell the great horse she rides, so she decides to run away and to hide on a ranch in Virginia with her horses. Jack Coleman is a young cowboy who's struggling to keep his ranch. He doesn't have any time for friends and lovers, but maybe a beautiful stranger will change his mind.
I've enjoyed Madison and Jack's story.
I adored to see Madison growth, she learns bit by bit to take care of her horses by herself and to take some advices. Jack is such a good man, he prefers to be harassed some in order to save his family's legacy, and I was so happy to see how much loved he is from his rural community.
They are instantly attracted to each other, but their edgy personalities make their first encounters frustrating and annoying, and only living in close proximity and knowing each other better they become more tolerable and likable. But still their lives and dreams are so different they can't think of a long term relationship.
This is CJ Hackland debut novel, I liked the writing and the storyline. The slow burn is well done, it follows perfectly the characters' journey and it never gets boring.
I recommend to read this book if you like horses and small town stories. I hope the author writes soon some more books set in Rustler’s Ridge.

Roping Her Heart by CJ Hackland presents a classic tale of love amidst adversity. Madison James, a high-level equestrian, finds herself on the run after discovering her fiancé's plans to sell her beloved competition horse. Seeking refuge in a small West Virginia town, she crosses paths with Jack Coleman, a cowboy struggling to save his family ranch.
Despite their different worlds, sparks fly between them, igniting a forbidden attraction. While the premise is engaging, I struggled to connect with the characters, and the story felt somewhat predictable and dragging.
Nevertheless, I did enjoy it and it offered a pleasant and light-hearted read, perfect for those seeking a fluffy romance with closed door spice and minimal drama.

Rating: 4/5
Madison James was on a fast track to success until she discovers her fiancé's plan to sell her prized competition horse. Fueled by determination and a sense of betrayal, she flees in the dead of night with her horses, seeking refuge in the secluded valley near Rustler’s Ridge, a small town in West Virginia. Her plan: lay low for a couple of months and avoid any unwanted attention. But fate has other ideas, as she finds herself drawn to a cowboy across the valley, their encounters igniting sparks neither can deny.
Jack Coleman's sole focus is keeping his family ranch from falling into the clutches of a ruthless creditor. His world shifts when he comes across a captivating blonde and her horses stranded on a flooded backroad. Despite not knowing her motives or the dangers she's hiding from, Jack feels a long-dormant passion rekindling within him. Yet, as much as he tries to ignore the pull between them and focus on saving his farm, fate keeps intertwining their paths, refusing to let them forget each other.
This story resonated deeply with me, and I felt a strong connection to the characters from the very beginning. The tropes woven throughout the narrative were exactly what I enjoy, and being an equestrian novel enthusiast, I found it particularly captivating in that aspect. And let's not forget the satisfying happily ever after ending—truly the icing on the cake! Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend this novel to anyone seeking a heartfelt and fulfilling read.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op, and the author, CJ Hackland, for providing me with an ARC copy in exchange for an honest and fair review.
Loved reading the exciting and engaging romance story. When Madison finds out her fiancé plans on selling her beloved horse, Madison flees town and a handsome cowboy, Jack, helps her get to her destination. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting love story.
A good little fluffy read. From a grammar point of view could probably use another look over. The story is sweet and easy to follow, if a little cliché. Would recommend for a light summer read.
Madison is a show jumper, and when she hears her fiance was planning on selling her prized horse she flees with a couple of horses to a friend's place of one of her team. Meeting neighbor Jack when she got stuck on the road was a big help, and of course the sparks start to fly. Overall, a good book and I did like it enough to see how it ends. Would recommend.
This was a very cute read! I loved the basic outline of the book. There were some grammar errors that I noticed. I felt like the ending was very cliche and wish it wasn’t wrapped up completely perfectly like it was. I wanted Madison to actually have to choose between things and not get everything
