Lynette Eason continues her Lake City Heroes series with the incredible dual-timeline thriller “Target Acquired.”
SWAT Medic Kenzie King is quickly learning that someone is out to get her. As her team is called to more and more fake calls, putting her life and her team’s lives in danger, she turns to fellow SWAT member Cole Garrison — the man she has always had a crush on — to help her figure out who is after her, and why.
In the 1940s, Eliza Crane’s father has her falsely institutionalized in a mental hospital. But with the help of her best friend Betsy and Dr. King, she hopes to find her way back to her beloved William.
How do the two stories relate to each other? And do the sins of the past lead to the sins of the future?
Once again, Eason creates a fast-paced, heart-thumping thriller that leaves readers guessing. She creates great characters that have past traumas and issues to overcome, but learn to rely on and trust each other. Through her story she reminds us that everyone needs hope; to not judge others; to not make assumptions; never give up on love; and to find forgiveness.
Fans of Colleen Coble, Kelly Irvin, Terri Blackstock and Irene Hannon will love this novel, which is due out Aug. 20.
Five stars out of five.

Kenzie King is happy to be a member of the SWAT team but wishes that she could be accepted by her team. Her medical degree put her above all the other candidates for the medic job, but one of her team members still thinks his friend should be on the team instead of her. Her team leader Cole Garrison knows that Kenzie is the best person for the job. He is concerned that his professional distancing might have kept the team distanced from Kenzie as well and strives to spend more time socially with her. Someone is targeting the team and Kenzie has to put her skills into action. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is a solid action-packed suspenseful story. While Kenzie has been attracted to Cole for years, Cole is resistant to romance due to a past relationship. Growing up with three older brothers, Kenzie is a very strong woman. I think that the diary flashbacks to Cole's grandmother are interesting and add to the story.
Lynette Eason just keeps the good stuff coming with her newest story “Target Acquired”. Kenzie King is the medic for a SWAT team that, since her arrival, is being targeted. The male lead is Cole Garrison who just happens to be the commander of the SWAT team. The relationship development between the two is evident but paced as they work together to solve the mystery of who is targeting the team, and why. Complete with twists and turns, this book will keep you guessing. This is a hit.

Oh I loved this suspenseful multi-generational dual timeline story, I could not put it down. I honestly did not see the culprit coming, and I love it when that happens! Several families in Lake City have gone back generations, some good friends, and some with secrets. This story of Kenzie King and Cole Garrison who were family friends, co-workers on the SWAT team, and had a definite interest in each other is a page-turner! It had plenty of camaraderie, suspicious characters, and twists and turns that kept me guessing right to the end. I loved the mysterious family angle that went back in time and had me guessing those storylines too!
For lovers of romantic suspense, you do not want to miss Target Aquired! It can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend the series.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Net Galley for allowing me to read an early copy, all opinions are my own.
What a wild ride!! This book has it all! Complex characters and relationships, modern day problems, action, suspense - and this one even has a little "look back in time" that connects with present day. Wow!! I had to force myself to read slower so that I wouldn't miss anything. The story centers around a SWAT team which includes Kenzie King who is the only female on the team. One of her good friends, Cole Garrison, is the Team Leader which complicates things. When it seems like the team is being targeted, they have to work together to discover the person involved - even if it is someone close to them!! I received an advance copy from the author and NetGalley but all opinions are my own.
Great book! I enjoyed all the characters and the tension between those she worked with. I loved the mystery of Kenzie's and Cole's grandparents and how it all connected throughout the years. The main characters were great together and the suspense was good, not overwhelming. Her books are always good, but this is one of my favorites. If you enjoy mystery and suspense this is a great one!

Target Acquired by Lynette Eason had me on the edge of my seat, the action was so constant. It is the 2nd book in her Lake City Heroes series and it was absolutely amazing. The group of friends in the series are a tight-knit, courageous and prayerful bunch, looking out for one another’s safety. I so enjoyed Cole and Kenzie’s story, romance and all. I can’t wait for book 3!!

Book Review 📖
Genre - Romantic Suspense
4.8/5 - I have been bingeing Lynette Eason this whole year and I’m now very impatiently awaiting book 3
Anyone familiar with Lynette Eason knows to be ready for an action-packed adventure, and this book was no exception.
When I started reading Target Acquired, I had a feeling this would be one of my favorite Lynette Eason books, and I was right! The plot of the book actually intertwines with a plot we get to see from the past, which I was fully not expecting, but found to be fun to read. I did think, however, that the past timeline wasn’t entirely necessary and it didn’t really click in all the right spots to be applicable to the present timeline which is where the bulk of our story resides.
The present plot, in my opinion, was classic Lynette Eason. It was fast-paced and well-written. I loved the action and characters. I’m sure my heart rate was up during this read!
SWAT team members Kenzie King and Cole Garrison are the heroes of our story, and they were phenomenal. Kenzie’s drive to prove herself was something I really resonated with, and watching her character development was beautiful.
Cole’s development was also well-written, and I’m not even going to lie- I just loved him. His perspective was golden, and I looked forward to hearing his thoughts each time.
Together the two characters formed some good chemistry that I felt even in book one. Their stories worked well together and they were fun characters to read. I did find some of the dialogue to be a bit unnatural (it looked good on paper, but probably wouldn’t be something in normal conversation), but it was just a couple of times and it barely distracted me from the story overall, which if you haven’t caught on yet, was phenomenal in my opinion.
Also, another thing I’ve always loved about Lynette Eason’s books are the side-characters in her stories. While they aren’t our main people, they still hold depth and credibility in her stories, and they help build our leading roles further than they would be by themselves. The dynamic between our main roles and supporting roles was probably one of my favorite things about Target Acquired, and I simply thought it was wonderful.
To finish us out, Target Acquired was an up-all-night suspense that had me hooked beyond the two days it took me to read it, and I’m already so excited to re-read it before book 3 releases!

I loved this book. No surprise ss I love Lynette Eason books! Intense and Captivating with a surprise ending! You don't want to miss Kenzie and Cole's journey!
Target Acquired is a masterful blend of high-octane action and poignant moments of faith, seamlessly intertwined to create a story that leaves a lasting impact. When you pick up this book, be prepared for a tactical thrill ride.
For anyone who loves Christian suspense with a twist of romance, this book is a must-read. Lynette Eason has crafted a story that not only entertains but also uplifts, reminding us of the power of faith and perseverance.
Kenzie King is a character who embodies resilience and determination, navigating challenges with grit and tenacity. Her journey is both inspiring and heart-pounding, a testament to strength and perseverance.
Cole Garrison’s deep faith and protective instincts add a rich layer to the narrative. His connection to his beliefs makes the dynamic between characters compelling and heartwarming.
The tension is palpable, the stakes sky-high, and the camaraderie among the characters truly shines. Eason’s ability to weave humor into the fabric of suspense is nothing short of brilliant, providing moments of levity amidst the chaos.
Target Acquired is a wonderful addition to the Christian suspense and mystery genre, embodying the themes of steadfast faith, resilience, and the indomitable spirit of those who serve. Lynette Eason's masterful storytelling delivers a narrative that is inspiring and heart-pounding.
So, lock in your sights on Target Acquired and get ready for a read that’s sure to captivate.
I received a digital ARC of Target Acquired from the publisher, Revell, and NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review in any way or for any reason. My honest and unbiased opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the writing style, the pacing, and the story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
Another win for Lynette Eason. Target Acquired, the second book in Lake City Heroes is the story of Kenzie King, a SWAT team medic. This is a hook full of suspense, intrigue, romance, family dynamics and drama. The characters are engaging, believable in keeping with Lynette’s writing. You’ll love it, I know I did.
Kenzie is the daughter of the former chief of police, the first woman to be a SWAT member and not every member of the team accepts her. Some believe she got the position for who she knew, but she worked hard and earned it, now to prove it.
Cole Garrison is the SWAT leader, and a man of strong faith. Cole is friends with her brothers so he keeps his distance to not seem as if she’s getting preferential treatment.
Someone seems to be trying to pick off the team members one by one, and especially seems focused on Kenzie. As they work to find the person responsible Kenzie and Cole must work together and resist the chemistry between them.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Target Acquired is an intriguing suspense novel filled with unexpected twists.
Kenzie King, a SWAT medic, finds herself in the crosshairs of an unknown killer. Someone doesn’t want her on the SWAT team and will do anything to take her out, even if it means wiping out the entire team.
SWAT team leader Cole Garrison must protect Kenzie while he struggles to keep his attraction to her in check and not give her more attention than the rest of the group. They must work together to find the person itching to kill before he hits his target, Kenzie.
Who wants her dead? Why? Could it be one of their own?
Wow! Lots of action! Hang on to your seat! I recommend this book!
Kenzie King has worked hard and secured a place as a medic on the SWAT team. Some believe she didn't earn it but she is working hard to prove to the other guys she can do the work and then some. Then some odd things start happening to her and to her team! Is someone trying to take out just Kenzie or the whole team? If so, why? Cole Garrison is the leader of the team and is best friends with Kenzie's brother. He is concerned about her and the team. Will he be able to keep her and the team safe and they all work together to figure out what is going on? and who is behind this seeming plot?
Target Acquired is the second book in the Lake City Heroes series but can be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well.
Talk about a fast-paced adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat! This one certainly did just that! Right from the start, I was drawn into the action. As the story begins, Kenzie is a new SWAT team member--- but as the only female in a career that is very male dominated, she's got her work cut out for her to prove herself... and not everyone is happy with her new position, and she finds herself with a target on her back leading to this action-packed suspense read which was balanced nicely with the romance too.
While the contemporary storyline drew me in right away, the story actually had a dual timeline that took us back to the 1940s. I actually really liked this other storyline a lot on its own, but it did take me a while to figure out how the two stories were connected so that threw me a little bit at first. It all makes sense in the end though, and while I'm a still a little uncertain just how I feel about the ending, I really did enjoy the book overall!
If you're looking for an exciting Christian romantic suspense, this is certainly one to add to your TBR.
**I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
This book is action packed and full of great scenes. The swat team difficulties make it seem believable as real life issues and ordinary people. I enjoyed the story and the action. I struggled with the jump back and forth between times. It’s just not something I enjoy in a book but know lots who do. Once the connection was clear I didn’t mind as much. Overall this is a good book and I read it quickly as it pulls you in.
I loved reading Target Aquired. There was some great suspense, especially at the end when I started reading faster to find out what happened! And it had the perfect amount of romance too.
I've been waiting for the release of this book! I read the first book in this series and was immediately hooked. I love that I can read thrillers that are still wholesome and include an uplifting message amongst the suspense, mystery, and thrill. There's also romance which was pure and spice free. This can be read as a stand-alone, but I would highly recommend reading the first one as well which is also a 5 star read. I cannot wait for more in this series!
Thanks to NetGalley and Revell for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Title: Target Acquired
Author: Lynette Eason
Rating: ★★★★
This gripping thriller has everything you need for a page-turning experience: action, suspense, romance, and a strong female lead who takes no prisoners!
Kenzie King is a tough-as-nails tactical medic who has finally earned her spot on a SWAT team. But proving herself among an all-male team isn’t easy. Whispers suggest she got her position through connections, not skill, so Kenzie has to work twice as hard to show she deserves her place.
Enter Cole Garrison, a man with deep faith and a heart ready to settle down. Kenzie catches his eye, but her arrival on the team coincides with a series of deadly ambushes targeting her fellow SWAT members. As the team scrambles to find the culprit, the tension between Kenzie and Cole heats up.
The chemistry between Kenzie and Cole crackles as they navigate the treacherous waters of team dynamics, personal attraction, and a relentless sniper targeting their squad. Can they put aside their differences and work together to stop the killer, or will their budding romance be snuffed out by a bullet?
Lynette Eason delivers a tightly wound plot that unfurls at breakneck speed, leaving me breathless and eager for more. With twists, intense action scenes, and a romance that sizzles, "Target Acquired" is a must-read for fans of thrilling, romantic suspense.
Highly recommend this fast-paced, heart-pounding read! If you love strong heroines, nail-biting tension, and a dash of romance, "Target Acquired" will hit the bullseye.
Thank you to The Publisher Revell , the author Lynette Eason & Netgalley for an advanced reader copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review.
This book grabbed my attention from the first page, and it never let me go! It was a fabulous sequel to Double Take, the first book in the Lake City Heroes series, and I love how Eason is developing the characters to allow each story to unfold. (I can't wait for Jesslyn and Nathan's story in the next book!)
When medical doctor Kenzie King joins the Lake City SWAT team as their medic, she kicks over the proverbial hornet's nest. Between dealing with skeptical teammates, a distant supervisor, an angry father, and other mysterious enemies that she can't identify, she has her hands full. When she starts being attacked by a man who successfully hides his face, and the SWAT team gets called to an ambush, she realizes that someone out there will stop at nothing to end her career...and her life.
High points of the book include:
**Strong/smart female lead
**Brother's best friend
**Edge of your seat action
**Flashbacks to family past
**Community of close friends
You won't get much work done while reading this book because you won't want to put it down, but you also won't have any regrets!!
