I absolutely devoured this audiobook (pun intended)! I have not read any of Tarah's books before so I went in with an open mind, and I absolutely loved everything about it. I'm a sucker for a small town romance, and this delivered and more on that front.
Fisher Lange is in a rut. The restaurant where he is head chef loses their Michelin star following the untimely death of his sister. This also leaves him as guardian of his teenaged niece, Indy. His boss sends him on a summer sabbatical to Spunes, Oregon to help reset.
Sage Byrd has been a resident of Spunes for her entire life...a life which recently feels as though it has imploded, thanks to her recent breakup and the subsequent engagement of her ex, golden boy Ian. She is hoping to enter the town's annual Festival of Spunes, but is in need of a partner.
When Fisher and Sage unexpectedly collide and wind up as neighbors, hilarity and heart ensue...and they may both find what they need after all.
Tarah's comedic writing is top-notch, and I often found myself laughing out loud at the humor. She balances those moments well with those full of heartwarming interactions, swoon-worthy dialogue and spice between our MC's, and some growth and self-discovery along the way. She expertly captures the dynamic of small town life, which I know from experience. The townspeople are equally as uplifting as they are meddling. There is a true sense of community amongst the chaos, and they rally when it is necessary.
Zachary Webber is a favorite of mine, so I knew that this would be excellent on his part. His vast array of townspeople voices were absolutely hilarious and his velvety vocals were perfectly captured with Fisher.
Karissa was a new narrator to me, but she did an excellent job with Sage, Indy, and various other characters. She also has a great male voice, which is always a plus with dual narration.
Overall, I absolutely loved this in audio format and will definitely be checking out Tarah's work in the future.
4.5⭐️
thank you to netgalley, macmillan audio and tarah dewitt for the chance to listen to the audio.
i was immediately hooked from the beginning, as soon as i heard the narrator choices for both sage and fisher i knew i’d love it. the small town vibe was perfect. the banter was hilarious, i was literally laughing out loud so many times. i loved the realness of the story, fishers life essentially implodes and he has to try to reset it all while caring for his niece. sage was just so sweet and full of life. all the savor its thru out the book were a cute nod to the title.
recommend? yes.
Oh how I loved this book! Savor It is a beautiful small town romance that will give you all the feels. Set near the coast in Oregon, Sage and Fisher find each other after he has been sent there for a summer assignment. Watching these two fall in love was so endearing. I loved how they supported one another, and always encouraged the other to go after their dreams.
Sage comes from a family with lots of brothers that are very overprotective of her, and who's ex also is a cop in the same small town. Her home is a safe haven for animals (I think I fell in love with a goose), and she's doing her best to make her deceased parents proud. A cynic of love, after having her dreams previously crushed, she's also so very well loved by her town.
Fisher is a 5-star chef from N.Y., and has had a bit of his own bad luck. Also the guardian of his teenage niece, a small-town summer wasn't what either of them planned. Yet this man captured my heart. He took on all these challenges with grace and hard work, unknowingly creating a better life for both of them.
There are bits on grief throughout this book as well, and Tarah did a great job of capturing some of the emotion that comes with that - sadness, anger, guilt, and love.
Zachary Webber may just be one of my all time favorite male narrators. His deep smooth voice will give you goosebumps and shivers in all the right places. Karissa Vacker did an amazing job as the female narrator as well. I love the alternating POV throughout the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this advanced audiobook in return for my honest opinion.

This one was just so good! Thanks for the tears, Tarah!
I completed this in a single day.
I love a good small-town romance. These characters were so realistic and relatable that this book just felt like home.
Sage has lived in her childhood home her entire life, but life humbled her at a young age with the passing of her parents and she was left to care for herself and her brothers. She has learned to savor every moment in this life... and she decided to collect some interesting pets along the way.
Fisher is a famous chef but finds his career is in jeopardy, so he heads to Spunes Oregon to assist with a new restaurant he desperately needs to be successful so he can redeem himself. Did I mention Fisher is the guardian of his teenage niece? Not only that they have some healing to do together.
Leave it up to Sage's three-legged cat "legs" to introduce the two. The chemistry between Sage and Fisher is palpable from the very beginning. Fisher is grumpy but patient. Sage is spunky and caring. But is this one of those "right people, wrong time" situations??
I love the incorporation of grief, burnout and the healthy discussion of therapy. This made this story that much more relatable to me. These topics are heavy and were incorporated and described so tastefully.
I received an audio book of this. Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber did an outstanding job of telling this story. With all of the heavy topics involved, they were successful in portraying the appropriate feelings and emotions. There is a lot of life in their narrations and my attention was kept.
Thank you, Tarah DeWitt, Macmillion Audio, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I don't think this book is bad by any means. The writing is good and the worldbuilding is intriguing. There were several characters I already have a sense will get a follow up book which excited me because the town of Spoons is darling. I just don't think the audiobook form is working for it.
Sage and Fisher have many MANY internal monologues. And it often diverts mid scene when they are in a conversation which makes it hard to follow when they return. I realized by this point in the book (their first kiss), that I didn't really care because I lost a lot of momentum and build up because of the constant digressions from the love story.
The narrators are also talented, so no knock against them.
I think this book would be worth trying in the physical format because it's clear the writing is very good quality, but the audiobook didn't work for me. I could see myself trying the audiobook again at a different time.
Savor It by Tarah DeWitt is a beautiful story that follows Sage and Fisher. Sage and Fisher were each on a journey of self discovery. They were vulnerable and honest with each other. Sage was so relatable and someone I want to be around. She was quirky and found the beauty in simple things. It was really inspiring. I liked her positive nature even though she has been through some difficult things. Fisher was a great MMC as well, he wanted to do better and was reflective and put his niece Indy’s needs first.
The banter between the main characters was fun and made me laugh out loud. I love that this story had dual POVs. I love getting a look inside both of the character’s heads and seeing things from each of their sides.
This was my first book by Tarah, but it certainly won’t be my last. She creates characters that stick with you and that you can’t help but root for and want all the positive things for. She also wove difficult topics into her book in a beautiful and meaningful way.
Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber do a fantastic job with the narration! 5/5 for narration! I literally could listen to them read the phone book, especially Zachary Webber. His voice just hooks me into the story and both of them had me really connecting with the characters!
Thank you NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for allowing me to voluntarily listen to this book and give an honest review. This audio book will be released on May 21, 2024. I highly recommend the audio!
This is Tarah’s best work, which is honestly saying a lot because her other books are literal perfection. Sage and Fisher are EVERYTHING TO ME. This audio made me whole again. And I quite honestly can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have read this twice already!!
Thanks Macmillan Audio for the ALC!!
I’m just going to say it..this is my favorite book of 2024 so far!! I worship at the altar of Tarah DeWitt. I have loved every single one of her books, but Savor It is my new favorite. The audiobook is absolutely killer. My feelings for Zachary Webber’s voice remain most ardent and Karissa Vacker is a goddess.
I dare you not to fall in love with Sage and Fisher. They are both, separately and together, MCs you want to give your heart to. Adorably awkward, entirely earnest, sweetly sexy.
Very rarely do I get to the main conflict of a book and completely agree with how the characters handle it. In fiction, there’s usually some big blow up or someone’s being stubborn, but there’s none of that here, just mature adult choices. It’s not even that the subject matter is overly heavy - the forces tearing them apart here are just life, and that felt so rooted in reality that it cracked me open.
Please PLEASE tell me that Micah is our next MMC!?
This book has me dying to move to a small town, and plant flowers and raise a bunch of random funny farm animals. It was so cute and sweet -but with a dash of spice. 😉 The heroine Sage, was witty and quirky and the kind of person every little girl hopes to be when she grows up- exactly herself. I loved her back and forth banter with the MMC and her relationship with her brothers and other members of the town. She just made my heart happy.
Then there is our troubled out of townsman, Fisher. I fell for him right away. I’m a sucker for a grumpy sunshine, single “dad”, fake dating, revenge, situation and this one was done just right. I liked the way he was constantly being caught in funny, vulnerable situations and though embarrassed still couldn’t fight the pull towards Sage.
Good plot, good characters, funny townsfolk, what more can you ask for honestly?
I listened to this book on audio which I think made it even better. Zachary Webber is one of my favorite male narrators and he has never once disappointed me. I love his voice and story telling and he was once again, utter perfection.
This was my first time listening to Karissa Vacker, but i am definitely looking forward to listening to more of her work. I loved everything about her performance. Where has she been hiding??
Like any good millennial, I saw this intro line and knew I had to read this book: "Sage Byrd has lived in the coastal town of Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forks, Washington) her entire life." This book did not disappoint. It had feels, it had swoons, it had actually well-articulated knowledge of being a chef and how Michelin stars work. But most of all, it had a goose, and I fell in love with it.
Highly recommend this fun, quirky read, it will steal your heart!
Thank you NetGalley for this Audio ARC, it was as good as a slice of marionberry pie.
I highly recommend this one to romance lovers. I loved the small town setting and that Sage lives on a hobby farm. The animals was one of my favorite parts. I also appreciated that miscommunication wasn't the source of conflict. It's not often that I wish a book was longer, but I felt like we didn't get to go deep enough into the plot points. And the steamy scenes escalated very quickly and were a little jarring to me for that reason. But I loved the characters. They felt very real.
The narrators both did an excellent job. Zachary Webber is one of my favorite romance narrators. His voice is 🥵
Great story. Great narration. I do wish there was a little more depth to the relationship between Fisher and his niece. It felt like the repair and trust building happened all at once at the end of the book. Fisher and Sage were fantastic. There is some sort of glitch in the audio at the end of chapter 19 that needs to be edited out.
I will definitely read more of this author’s work
All the small town love! This book was so cute. I loved watching both the characters grow individually as well as fall for eachother. I unfortunately didn't feel super connected to the two main characters so the passion was missing for me and I would have liked to see more of his niece in the story. It felt like she was pushed to the side. I really liked the idea of this story but to me it lacked depth and when we did get big moments they seemed skipped over.
I did love the entrepreneur side of this book, the florals, the found family and the leap to do the things you love!
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this audio.
WOW! What a cute, funny, dramatic and a bit spicy book! I absolutely enjoyed this story! MC are great, farm/summer setting is great! Secondary characters are also sooo good! Especially the animals lol. It did take me a few chapters to get in to it but glad I stuck it out. So good!!
I’m all about the girl next door meets the new “temporary” resident to a small town. Literally my most favorite setup for a romance because of how many ways they can fall in love and change their minds about everything they were so dead set on.
Sage was an insanely likable character. She’s the bubbly optimistic friend who does anything she can for the people she cares about. She’s awkward and funny and she is alllllll around a peach and a half.
Fisher….. OHHHH FISHER. It’s super easy for me to fall for my book boyfriends but you have to be a serious magician for me to love him from the first second we met (me next me next me next if him and Sage don’t work out!!!!)
The shared trait of caring for children that they didn’t have themselves was a factor that pulled so hard at my heartstrings. The responsibility and selflessness that comes along with taking care of someone else’s children is so admirable and it’s so incredibly special to see them come together and bond over that connection.
Spunes, Oregon is giving me everything I never knew I needed. Pack your bags friends!!! WE’RE GOING TO SPUNES.
One of my low-key obsessions is watching cooking shows. I don’t particularly care what kind of cooking show; I just like looking at the pretty food. That’s one of the things that drew me to this book, food played a huge part in the plot. That, plus the fact that it was a small town romance, another low-key obsession, and I knew I would be a goner for this one.
Sage and Fisher were fantastic leads, and I really appreciated the way they fell for each other despite knowing it might not end well. I thought the set-up, between the annual competition, needing to win over the town, and being neighbors, was cute and made sense. It brought both characters together in many ways, and fueled their chemistry well. I won’t spoil it, but I really appreciated the ending as well; one of the best I have read from an overall satisfaction standpoint. As for the narration, both were well done, but I found myself more drawn to the parts where it was Fisher’s point of view since I thought the voice work was exemplary in those chapters. I definitely recommend this one for reading or listening!

*Thank you to St Martin's Griffin and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review and to Macmillan Audio for the gifted ALC*
I did not savor this book and I regret everything. I whipped through, not taking a moment to enjoy their happy moments and struggles. But the good news is that I can reread it! And I absolutely will be doing so (which is HUGE for me).
Karissa Vacker and Zachary Weber were just perfect for this book. I loved the alternating chapters and narrators. The steamy bits were to DIE for on audio. I'm still salivating over the imagery of a hot chef holding two baby goats. And while a competition brought them together, the book isn't focused on that at all. (TBH I kind of missed the end of it? Did they win?) All I know is that I had a good time and can't wait to go back to Spunes.
Thank you Netgalley, smp and MacMillan audio for the free ALC an free e-Arc. My opinions are being left voluntarily. This is absolute perfection. From start to end. I was hesitant to pick this up as I wasn't a super fan of the authors previous books and definitely was under the impression she want for me. This book proved me wrong that authors work changes as their skill of telling a story becomes something you don't want to end. I will be asding a copy to my forever shelf.
Absolute perfection will be my favorite may 2024 book no question
5/5☆
This book was so cute! The writing and the characters sucked me in from the start, especially when Sage wanted to reference Twilight Saga; Breaking Dawn, but opted not to because she knew the reference would go unappreciated. I loved the grumpy x sunshine trope, and I think Sage and Fisher balanced each other out well. I also think that Gary (the goose in love with Indy) was hilarious, but also an unexpected aspect. The spice level is probably a 3.5/4 out of 5, in that there's some there but it isn't graphic. Overall, I loved this read and I'm so thankful to the author and publisher for allowing me to read this book early!
how am i supposed to come up with the right words to adequately express how much this book means to me?!?! idk if i can but i am gonna try!
this book gets all the stars. tarah dewitt, you beautiful, magical, mastermind genius you!!!! you have created a new all time favourite romcom for me. a new comfort read. a book that the second i was finished with i wanted to start it all over again. i never wanted it to end. i cherished every single word and moment.
this book felt like falling in love and having a gooshy yummy crush. it felt like nostalgia wrapped in a cozy blanket while staring gazing. it felt like basking in the summertime sun while frolicking in a field of wildflowers. it felt like dancing in the kitchen with your love.
it was so beautiful getting to witness sage + fisher enter each others lives and simply just basking in the bliss of developing a friendship while also giving one another the space and freedom to be so authentically themselves. i saw myself so deeply in sage + fisher. they felt so real to me. i could so vividly see every moment play out so perfectly in my head. so atmospheric.
fisher + sage are my end game. new favourite bookish couple. the vibes we absolutely immaculate. i was giggling from all the witty banter and angst. i was squealing and kicking my feet. the chemistry was so electric. so many perfect small town romcom moments. my dream romcom!!! i also loved the continual growth between indy (his niece) + fisher as well. that was so so special seeing their relationship blossom and form into trust and understanding of one another.
side note: who would have thought learning how to paddle a canoe could be so hot?!?!!!!!!! 🛶 👀
fisher + sage might have savoured kissing in the rain, picking flowers, trying new recipes, cuddling baby goats, and falling in love but let’s just say i will savour this book forever and ever and ever.
second time reading - audio:
ok now onto the audio - getting to dive back into one of my fav stories was such a joy. this quite literally my dream romance. these two narrators were exactly how i pictured them while reading. the really brought this story to life and i was truly blown away by this audiobook. reading it the second time made me love it that much more. the way fisher catalogues all of sage’s details is truly my favourite thing in the whole world. he wants to devour her and is down so dang bad. talk about SWOONY. truly an ♾️ star read. a new and all time fav audiobook that i will keep coming back too.
my kindle is filled with annotations but here are a few of my fav quotes:
- “the bratty eye roll she does with it sends…something through me. something that makes me want to tug on her ponytail”
- “as your friend, i don’t like when you try to make yourself seem small”
you gotta READ. THIS. BOOK. !!!!
