This was a cute small town romance and I enjoyed it when I read it. Small Town usually isn’t my vibe, as I sometimes find it a little lifetime for my tastes. That said I really enjoyed the characters, the summer vibes, the fun, etc that this story brought to the table.
Savor It by Tarah DeWitt is the perfect love story! I was obsessed with it from start to finish and that was further proven when listening to this audiobook!
Absolutely adorable! This was the first book I’ve read by Tarah DeWitt and I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the small town slightly rural setting as well as the fun cast of characters and pets. Excellent pacing and character development. Such a fun summer read. The audiobook was fantastic as well.
This is my first Tarah Dewitt novel/audiobook.. and I'll have to go back and checkout her backlist because I really enjoyed it! If you like small town romance, spicy summer fling, heartwarming connections.. add Savor It to your summer TBR!
I really enjoyed the narrators, they did a fabulous job and fit the characters very well. Regarding the audio editing, there were a few chapters that at the very end sounded like they were cut off too soon (example end of Chapter 10, the narrator sounds like she's finished and then says "It's been.." like it wasn't cut off at the right moment when cutting and pasting the chapters in the Dual POV.
Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this ALC!
I did not love this. It was fine but the relationship felt surface level and was not enjoyable for me
This was my first Tarah DeWitt novel and I literally need to go back and read her others because WOW! The audiobook narrators were perfect for Sage and Fisher. I think my favorite part of the whole book, though, was the setting!
Savor It is one of my favorite small-town romances that I have read this year. Even after finishing it, I still thought about this book days after. I loved Sage and Fisher as a couple and their chemistry was amazing. However, it was the everyday struggles for Sage and Fisher that stuck with me. I loved listening to how Fisher and his niece worked together in dealing with their grief of losing his sister while Fisher was trying to learn how to love cooking again. I loved this book from beginning to end and would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves small town romances.
Savor It is out now.
Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the opportunity to review Savor It. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Savor It by Tarah DeWitt is the first book I've read/listened to from the author. Once I finished this, I instantly added her other books to my ever-growing TBR list.
Savor It takes place in the small Oregon town of Spunes (pronounced Spoons and not to be mistaken with Forks, thank you very much)! Sage's longtime boyfriend has broken up with her just to turn around and date one of her good friends. Considering the size of the town, everyone is aware of the break up and subsequent quick rebound on her ex's part. But Sage holds her head up and continues to care for the plants and animals she loves.
Fisher is a chef from New York City and has been taking care of his niece after the sudden death of his sister. He was formerly a Michelin star chef who lost his Star and also lost his cool quite publicly on a food critic that was filmed and went viral. A mentor and friend of his suggests he travels out west to help a friend set up a menu for a new restaurant. Fisher and his niece Indy find themselves in Spunes, Oregon.
Sage and Fisher cross paths and in helping one another with their personal struggles, form a quick friendship. Sage is a teacher who is off for the summer while Fisher is just in town long enough to help create the menu for his mentor/friend's restaurant. With both of them recovering from heartbreak, is there room for anything else in their life? Will they forge a summer romance or realize it's not worth the possible let down when summer is over?
This was a delightful, cute, fun read and one that easily earned 4 stars. I was able to listen to the audiobook and love how Sage and Fisher came to life through the talented voice actors. I definitely recommend listening to it but if that's not your thing, then by all means, grab a copy of it!
I went into Savor It expecting an easy 5-star read. Small-town romances are pretty much my Roman Empire, and Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forks, Washington), was such a great town. Sage and Fisher were a cute couple. I loved their banter, and I enjoyed the progression of their relationship. Despite this, something for me was missing. I was never fully invested in their relationship and wanted more of the town and the side characters. I do think most romance readers will fall for this.
Audiobook Notes
Karissa Vacker is a damn narrating genius. She is one of my all-time favorite narrators. Zachary Webber did a fantastic job. I highly recommend this via audio.
“Sage Byrd has lived in the coastal town of Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forks, Washington) her entire life. She’s learned to love her small world, with the misfit animals on her hobby farm, and her friendships with the town’s inhabitants. But when her 5-year relationship ends and her ex, town-golden-boy Ian, suddenly gets engaged, Sage needs a win―something that will convince everyone to stop pitying her all the time, and to put Ian in his place. The Festival of Spunes, the town’s annual summer competition, would be the perfect opportunity. She just needs a partner.
Fisher Lange was a hotshot chef in New York City until the loss of his sister left him numb, grieving, and responsible for his teenage niece Indy. When Fisher loses his Michelin star along with his love of cooking, his boss sends him and Indy to Spunes on a much-needed summer sabbatical to consult on a restaurant opening. But when clashes with the townspeople threaten his last chance to redeem himself and a kiss with his new neighbor Sage leads to dating rumors, a strategic alliance might just be the best way to turn things around.
A deal is struck. Sage will improve Fisher’s image in the eyes of the town and remove the roadblocks he is facing with the restaurant, and Fisher will be Sage’s partner for the competition. But as their pact quickly turns into steamy rendezvous, emotional wounds begin to heal, and the pair tries to savor every moment, they start to realize that summer is racing by much faster than they would like...
Filled with spicy summer fun, small-town charm, and Big Feelings, this highly anticipated romcom is Tarah DeWitt’s best yet.“
**What I enjoyed about this book:
I really enjoyed the dual POVs in this book! It really contributed to Sage and Fisher’s story! I also loved the small town setting! And if you’re a fan of spice, you’ll definitely appreciate this book!
4.5 rounded up
I absolutely loved this book. The narrators were fabulous and made this read so enjoyable. There is tension and banter but also really sweet tender moments. I loved how the MMC admits his faults and accepts the FMC as she was. Savor It gives your small town, summer fling, found family, a cast of secondary characters, and adorable animals. Highly recommend.
Tarah Dewitt, you are such a dream writer! This was my first book by Tarah Dewitt and now she will be on my auto buy list of authors. This book had characters I could identify with and feel! The cast of characters were heartfelt and had unique and original flaws that made this book such a delight to read. The sweet and spice of this book was such a good balance and I just want more from this author! This books deserves ALL.THE.STARS!!!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
• small town romance
• dual POV
• likeable main characters
The vulnerability and honest communication!! Gotta love it. Plus, the quirky small town vibes were so good... I want to visit Spunes! The narration was engaging and really brought the story (and witty banter) to life. Check it out if you're looking for a summer-y rom com 🌞😍
🗣 Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to read and review this book via gifted audiobook! All opinions are honest and my own.
I love a good romance, and this really hits the spot. One of my favorite tropes is when the love interests have to come from totally different walks of life. I highly recommend this book.
Two people from two opposite worlds coming together. One of my favorite versions of a romance. I really liked how the audiobook used both a female and male voice. That makes listening to it so much more enjoyable. A great read.
Thank you St. Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio for a copy of this e-arc and audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I primarily listened to the book. Karissa Vacker is one of my favorite narrators, so of course, she did a great job. The male narrator, Zachary Webber, also was good. It was easy to follow along with their voices and who was talking.
The plot had such a cute premise. All the side characters were hilarious. I also love small-town vibes in a book and the fake-dating trope. And then as I kept reading, the plot was redundant and I struggled to want to finish the book. While the characters, Sage and Fisher, on the surface were good, we really lacked depth in their connection and struggles. It felt like we glazed over them, but never dove deeper into it.
Was it a cute read? Yes.
Would I recommend romance lovers try it? Also yes.
Was it my favorite book? No, but it could be yours.
4/5 Stars! Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this audiobook of Savor It by Tarah Dewitt narrated by Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the narrators. Especially my audio crush, Zachary Webber. Although the story was cute, I can't say that it was my IT book for the year. Almost, but not quite. If anything, this book has lifted my mood from all the thrillers I've been reading. The banter jokes were fantastic and on point. This is my first book by this author and she did not disappoint! I would like to give her other novels a try and see if they are similar to this one.
Overall, quick listen, very cute, and just leaves you in a positive mode afterwards.
3.5 Stars
I found the book to be an enjoyable read. The grumpy versus sunshine trope added a charming and lighthearted element to the story, making it entertaining. The culinary component was a nice addition too. However, I felt that the novel didn't offer anything particularly groundbreaking within the genre. Nevertheless, it was still a pleasant read, and I would recommend it to fans of this kind of story.
***Thank you to NetGalley, Tarah DeWitt, and Macmillan Audio for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***
This one might be my top romance read of the year so far. I absolutely wanted to move right into the small town where Paige Byrd and all her friends and family lived. It was a beautiful idealic setting and the love story was interesting, intense, and the character development was absolutely top notch. I was very invested in the characters I will be recommending this book to All My Romance lovers
4.5 stars - rounded up bc i loved their banter so much
I have recently been in a bit of a reading slump and this audiobook has single-handedly pulled me out! I fully enjoyed this book so much - more than I normally do with romance novels. The characters have fully developed back stories and all of their emotions/decisions make sense because of how well their each person's little world has been built. The banter and jokes between the leads are top tier and honestly so hilarious, especially in the first half of the book. The only reason this book didn't fully get 5 stars is because around the 60% mark I felt like the dialogue began to lose some steam - however I did still really enjoy it, especially with the spiciness in the second half.
Sage: FMC - chronic people pleaser, thoughtful, and rescuer of animals. Loves her small town but needs just a bit more.
Fisher: MMC - moody, sarcastic, ex-hotshot chef. Spending his summer in a small town to prove himself with his NYC boss.
These characters worked so well together. Their backstories bounce off and compliment each other very well!
Spiciness: 3/5 stars
Tropes: small town girl x big city guy, summer romance, fake dating.
Overall, this book was so so sweet and the title was so fitting. I hope that the author writes more books around the side characters in this, like her bff and brother as a second chance romance (PLEASE). I love interconnected standalones!!!!!
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for this audiobook arc.
