This was so cute! Such a sweet romance to kick the summer off. I've never read (or listened to ) this author before but I really enjoyed it.
Tarah DeWitt's "Savor It" is a mouth-watering treat that combines all the best ingredients of a feel-good romcom: a charming small town, quirky characters, and a sizzling slow-burn romance that'll have you fanning yourself!
Spunes, Oregon (not Forks, Washington – I chuckled at that!) comes alive under DeWitt's pen. It's the kind of place where everyone knows your business, and the annual Festival of Spunes is like the Olympics of small-town drama. Enter our heroine, Sage Byrd, with her hobby farm of misfit animals and a heartbreak she's determined to overcome. Her ex, Ian, getting engaged? Talk about salt in the wound! But Sage's resilience is infectious, and I was rooting for her from page one.
Then there's Fisher Lange, the broody chef from NYC. His backstory with his sister and niece Indy tugged at my heartstrings. Watching him rediscover his passion for cooking amidst the chaos of Spunes was a joy. And oh boy, the chemistry between Fisher and Sage! Their "strategic alliance" turned steamy so naturally that I almost forgot to breathe during some scenes.
What I loved most was how DeWitt balanced the spice with substance. Both Sage and Fisher are dealing with real, relatable issues – heartbreak, grief, career setbacks. Their journey to heal together, all while prepping for the festival and navigating small-town politics, felt authentic and heartwarming.

I can’t believe I’m doing this, but I’m giving a third act breakup a pass right now. I don’t know who I am anymore, but take it as you will. This was such a fun, warm hug, small town, farming romance that I’m not over it.
I really liked the characters in this book. Sage and all her puns (I need that snail shirt btw) is like a dose of serotonin to my soul. Fisher was so interesting and really had me wanting a starred dinner like yesterday. They were so authentic, I just couldn’t get over them.
The audio was audioing. I loved in audio and highly recommend. You may have to turn it down during the steamy parts. (It’s very steamy. In the library, y’all gotta be kidding me) but the dual POV and narration was absolutely phenomenal.
I did not expect to love this book as much as I did, but here I am loving Savor It.
Out now.
QOTD: What’s a book that took you by surprise? Can be good or bad surprise.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
2.5 stars
Sigh. I really tried. Definitely read this one, instead of listening, if you have the choice. Zachary Webber’s female voice was so atrocious that it pained me to listen. He almost always sounds like he’s bored and dialing it in when he narrates but he dialed up the offensive female voices for this book. I feel badly for the author and publisher. I just couldn’t take it anymore. It didn’t help that Fisher, the main character, was fairly unlikeable for too long.
The other side is that I loved Karissa Vacker’s narration and was rooting for Sage. But having to deal with Zach and Fisher was a complete and utter no go. Five stars for Karissa and 0 stars for Zach had me settle in between at 2.5 stars.
*Thanks to MacMillan Audio & NetGalley for the audiobook review copy
This was so cute. I loved it. The characters, world building and story telling were great. It kept me interested and involved.
4.5 stars!
I loved "Savor It" by Tarah DeWitt! All of her books are just so fabulous! This one might not hit the same greatness level of "Funny Feelings," but it's still fantastic! Who doesn't love a steamy small-town summer fling-turned-more with deep feelings, an examination of grief, and awesome side characters?! DeWitt does witty banter sooooo freaking well, and this book had me laughing out loud. The main characters, Sage and Fisher, have a terrific rapport with one another. You can really feel the love, the admiration, and the respect between the two of them. I just *loved* them as characters, both together and separately! Sage and Fisher are both endearing, resilient, nuanced, layered people. As soon as Fisher makes his presence known in Sage's small Oregon town called of Spunes, it's obvious there is an attraction there. Far beyond that, though, the more time they spend with one another, the more they help each other grow and change and heal from their wounds and traumas. Two grown adults with baggage who actually *talk* about it and not just bottle it up inside and assume the other person knows what they are feeling and are going through?! COMMUNICATION?!? No way! Color me shocked. And let's not forget Indy! I loved her, attitude and all! I think DeWitt wrote an amazing teenage character here. She felt realistic and not at all phony. And the steam! OOOOoh yeah!!!!!!!! Talk about sizzling, scorching, heart-pumping steam! I loved this aspect of the story (another thing Tarah does exceedingly well!). This is the complete package: well-developed, well-told, engaging, not too long, doesn't drag at all, mixes heart and humor with darkness and mature themes. Tarah, pleeeeeeeeeease write Sage's brothers' stories!!!! Do yourself a favor and read this book via audiobook. Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber absolutely k1ll it with their expert narrations of this story. Their chemistry is palpable within their voices. Perfection on audio!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Tarah Dewitt, and Macmillan Audio for the complimentary ALC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
Fun and flirty, featuring fantastic chemistry - this is a delectable, small-town romance between Fisher, a grieving, disgraced, Michelin Star chef from the city, and Sage, a bubbly teacher who owns the hobby farm next door. They agree to help each other with their respective pursuits in town, and the sparks fly! All of the characters in this were great, especially Fisher’s niece, Indy! Overall, a delightful summer romance read! Highly recommend!
This small town romance was so perfect. I loved the characters and the farm animals. I loved the settings surrounding cooking and flowers. This book had everything I didn't know I needed. Especially Fisher. I don't know what sets him apart from other charactes, but I'm pretty sure he has become my fictional boyfriend. He just doesn't know it yet. (I'm sure that the narration done by Zachary Webber definitely has something to do with that too. I recommend the audiobook for this reason)
If you need a feel good and quick read, do yourself a favor and pick up this one. It was my first by this author and I am currently on the hunt for more.

This book had everything my foodie loving heart needed - it was a quick listen for me and made for a great travel companion.
* Small town romance
* Grumpy/ Sunshine
* Slow Burn but some hot spice
* Not to mention Zachary Webber’s narration is total SWOON!
This is my first book by Tarah Dewitt and it will definitely not be my last. I love the heart she writes into these characters. Not to mention her care with difficult subjects (TW: Grief and Loss).
My plea: Can Wren and Ellis PLEASE have their own Second Chance book?!
Thank you @macmillan.audio and Tarah Dewitt for this ALC!
I thought this would be a cookie cutter quick romance book, but I was surprised. The characters were well written and I wanted to know more about them Tarah Dewitt did a great job creating Sage And Fisher they felt like people I would want to meet not a easy thing to do these days. Happy to have found a new writer to follow.
If you're looking for your summer romance read, if you're looking for a beach read you can get lost in or just your next love story between Netflix Bridgerton batch episode drops, this is the book. This is the book you need to pick up. And I LOVE that this romance does something that I don't see in a lot of romances; instead of the couple splitting up over some drama a few chapters before the end of the story, they take the title of this book to heart. SO good!
This book was 🧑🏼🍳 chefs kiss 💋🤌🏼✨. You know when you read the first page of a book or listen to the first chapter and you instantly know you’re going to love it 🥰 ? Well this book did that to me. 🙌🏻 This book did not disappoint. Fisher Lange & Sage Byrd romance was one of my favorites I’ve read this year. It was overall so adorable and beautifully written. 🫶🏼

The narrators fit the characters and brought it to live. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook just as much as the book. 🤌🏼
I really loved this book and instantly fell in love with both characters! They both felt relatable and authentic, especially the insecurities they were grappling with. Read if you love: dual POV, chef MMCs, Twilight references, a menagerie of animals, small town setting, grumpy x sunshine! I absolutely loved the playlist included with multiple Taylor Swift songs! 4.5⭐️

The narrators brought such life to this story. The beginning had me extremely hooked, but lost me a little towards the middle. Sage is EVERYTHING.

This book was so freaking cute. I loved the connection these characters found with the town after writing off small towns after the mmc Fisher and his niece Indy’s mom died. Grief overcame both of them both and they lashed out in their own ways. Now on the path to get their life back on track Fisher needs to go to small town Oregon and set up the new restaurant his boss/business partner is setting up where he meets Sage. As much as he and Indy fight it, they’re both entranced with Sage and her small town. The connection save brings to both Indy and fisher through her town and her land and her animals it’s just beautiful to see.
I loved this pairing for the narration. I will always love listening to Zachary’s Webber. He’s an all star on all his books. And this is the first I have record of listening to Karissa Vacker, but her voice sounds so familiar that she could be someone else that I listen to frequently under a different name that I’m just not matching up in my head. Regardless, she did a stunning job and I can’t wait to hear more from her.
I have been eyeing DeWitt’s books for quite some time so I was really excited to grab a copy of Savor It! The story deals with heavy grief in a way that feels healthy but truthful. Saying that, I did not expect it to be so funny! The many inhabitants of Spunes, Oregon gave Stars Hollow vibes which I mean as the highest form of flattery. The two narrators, Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber, both deliver knockout performances. The cherry on top were Sage and Fisher and their amazing chemistry which made this the perfect summer read!
Tarah’s writing always feels like coming home ❤️ like walking into a warm bakery & drinking the most delicious cup of coffee. Like seeing the perfect pair of shoes & slipping them on to find they fit just right.
This story starts off with two people crossing paths in a small town and becoming, unknowingly, the exact type of friends they need at that moment in life. One is a single guardian, wandering chef who is trying to find his spark again. The other is a woman who is finding her light and trying to be the happiest she can after all that life’s thrown at her. The two make quite the pair and I’m head over heels for Fisher & Sage. A grump & his sunshine. A quirky small town girlie & a city boy.
This story was just so beautiful & listening to it really brought the words to life to where I was FEELING SO MANY EMOTIONS. Small towns are so spunky & fun & god I love them with my whole heart bc the characters are the BEST and I love the storylines.
The journal 😭 the kiss to make her ex jealous >> the growth we get to see in multiple characters ❤️ and the freaking ANIMALS AHHHHHH! I just am a big ole ball of fluff & smiles right now.

This book made me swoon, and dare I say that the audiobook made it even more of a joy to listen to! Sage and Fisher are a bit of an opposites-attract situation gone right as they balanced each other out so nicely. I absolutely adored how hard the author leaned into the small town aspect in this book, as there were so many charming characters to root for. This storyline also did a beautiful job exploring concepts of grief, home, found family, and belonging. Zachary Webber is a perennial favorite male narrator, and he nails Fisher's character. Karissa Vacker as the female narrator is newer to me, but she was the perfect Sage. I highly recommend this sweet and spicy romance audiobook for all the other small town lovers out there!
