For anyone who likes a cute and slightly campy small town romance, this is the book for you. It is sweet, funny, and the characters are interesting. I loved that there was a good amount of depth to the characters and their backgrounds without being too overwhelming. Sage and Fisher fit well together and I was rooting for them the whole book. I also really enjoyed the relationship between Fisher and Indy, as well as with all of the side characters. I could easily see more books set in this world, particularly with Sage's family. Overall, this book was exactly what I was looking for when I picked it up.
I listened to the audio version of this, and I really enjoyed it. The male voice actor was perfect for the part. He fit the character well and did a great job when he had to switch to different characters. The female voice actor did a wonderful job as well. The only minor complaint I had was that the female voice actor had a slight hiss to her voice whenever she said words with "s"s. I got used to it pretty quickly, but it definitely threw me off a little at the beginning. Overall, it was a great listen and I would definitely recommend the audiobook version.
Savor It is an excellent romance with witty banter, laugh out loud moments, and heartache. This story handled challenging topics while weaving in light elements to create a well balanced story. The chemistry between the MC’s is palpable, and the sexy scenes are fantastic.
I absolutely loved the setting! I’m from Oregon, and spent some of my childhood and early adulthood living on the Oregon Coast. I loved that this book brought the whimsy of the Oregon coastline, and was nostalgic for me.
I listened to the audiobook, which had two narrators. They did an excellent job bringing the story to life. I listened at 1.75x speed (with 1.75-2x speed being my normal audiobook listening speed).
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this advanced audiobook copy.
I loved the e-arc when I read it and when I got the chance to listen? I jumped so fast. I’m loving this beautiful dance of a book and just enjoying being back with Sage, Fisher and Indie (his niece).
Savor It is a treat, no matter which format you read it in.
Expect —> coastal small town vibes, single guardian, nosy town but in a lovable way, needing a win, atmospheric, animals and hilarity.
The vivid pictures that Tarah DeWitt paints with her words is magical. I feel like I’m savoring each moment of this story. Slowly walking my way through a field of tall wild flowers at sunset with my hands gently brushing through the petals. It’s just the most luxurious feeling of not being pressed for time and being fully present in this moment of bliss.
Thanks @stmartinspress and @macmillan.audio for my early copies. #smpinfluencers #MacAudio2024
This was definitely the right book at the right time. I was smitten with Sage and Fisher from the start. I’m the rare one that loves the chase, so a slow burn romance works for me.
This one has some of my favorite things. A small town, witty banter, lovable characters and some heart warming moments. Oh yeah and some spice.
I rooted for these two from the start and the more I learned about Fisher, the more I loved him. I mean seriously he does some swoon worthy things.
Their chemistry leaps off the page and their supporting characters are just as quirky and lovable as the main two.
I thought this was going to be a sweet palate cleansing read, but I got a little choked up on more than a few occasions.
Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber knock the narration out of the park. Once I switched over to listening, I couldn’t stop. Both of them do such a great job with not only the main characters voices, but Fisher’s niece Indy. They both brought her grief out and had me wanting to hug her.
All the stars from me.

Okay heres the thing, at first i was a little hesitant about reading this book because i just felt like everything was happening so fast and the plots that were occurring were only briefly talked about and some weren’t even mentioned again after. Half through the book the story did start to come together but again once we got to around 70% everything started to pick up and we were moving too fast that by the end of the book it felt as if there something lacking. Overall i did enjoy this book and i would definitely recommend if you want something cute, spicy but not too plot heavy. The narrators did a great job at making me feel the emotions of the characters through their voices.
Thank you to SMP Romance and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy and to Macmillan Audio for the complimentary audiobook. These opinions are my own.
I love a small town romance set here in Oregon. Sage has always lives in Spunes. Fisher and his niece come for the summer, so that he can establish a new restaurant and he finds his way again.
This is a lovely small town romance that truly explores the draw of small towns as well as their drawbacks. I found it insightful, as it made me truly reflect on where I live and what opportunities it opens and closes. And I loved all the descriptions of Oregon, especially the landscape, the plants and gardens, and the canoe races.
Some of this book was deeply emotional. I loved Sage and felt so deeply for her, and I wanted good things for Fisher and Indie as well. I would have liked a bit more to the ending both for the romance and a few other plot points. But overall, the story was quite enjoyable.
No surprise, Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber were absolutely fantastic at performing the audiobook. Both are favorites of mine, and they nailed all the emotion and fun of this novel.
This was a good debut but just an ok read for me. I didn't really connect with the maon characters, and not a lot happened. Female narrator always good but tiring of male narrator's female voicing.
Thank you so much to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the audio arc, all opinions are my own.
Fisher is an ex-Michelin star chef sent to small-town Oregon to consult on a new restaurant. He is feeling down in the dumps about himself while also trying to raise his teenage niece. Sage Byrd lives in small-town Oregon, and happens to be the new neighbor. She has a small menagerie of animals and has an ex named Ian(?) Overall, I did really enjoy this book, but it did lack depth. This is just a fun small-town, tryst for the summer romance! My biggest gripe is the author specifically has Fisher coming from small-town Nebraska, but then states that he took a date to Waffle House? There are no Waffle Houses in the midwest.
When the audio first began I almost quit, but once the man's voice began it got more tolerable. I did notice some weird editing errors mainly at the end of Sage's chapters where there was half a word more that didn't get edited out. Some things were mispronounced also, and that always takes me out of the story.
So glad a friend on bookstagram recommended this one! If you loved Nina and Ollie in Luck and Last Resorts by Sarah Grunder Ruiz, this is the book for you. I loved the honesty and growth between Sage and Fisher, and all of the little animals along the way. There are deeper themes explored like grief, loss of a parent/sister, injury, heartbreak, etc. but they all felt handled with care. And it was refreshing to read the way grief was so openly talked about without trying to fix it, or make it better, or gloss over it. This was my first read from this author and I’m definitely interested in reading more from her.
Thank you to the publisher for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was soooooo spicy! I loved the sweet love forming from the beginning. I loved the storyline, and it kept me on my toes wondering how this would all come together.
Tarah DeWitt has a captivating writing style that is just so easy to read. Combined with the on-point narrative voices of Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber it was so much fun to listen too.
I'm a fan of small-town romance just for the cozy vibes and how the characters play out in that setting. The MMC heads from New York and seeing his change of heart towards the new setting was heartwarming. Sage struck me as a particularly humorous character because of her comedic timing. She's hilarious and so perfect. I remember being in a mall and just grinning to myself at this ridiculously funny scene. It's the way the dialogues are written so thoughtfully to spotlight some tough topics and make them lighter.
When I say I detest going over the initial chapters of a book most of the time, I mean it, and it's shocking how the beginning was the most enjoyable part of this book. All those scenes are so fresh and vivid, I couldn't have hoped for a better first meet with the MCs. Such a brilliant book, I promise you will literally savor it!
Chef Fisher Lange and niece Indy move to a small town next door to neighbor and sweetheart Sage Byrd as a consult for a new restaurant. This is just something he needs to clear his mind and get his groove back after the death of his sister. While Sage is recovering from her last relationship who apparently is now engaged to someone else, she doesn’t realize how much she falls into step with Fisher and Indy. Will this temporary friendship turned more become permanent?
This was my first Dewitt book and I liked it. It’s been a while since I’ve read a small town romance, so I was invested, though I must say the first half dragged a bit for me. I enjoyed all the small town elements, side characters, and Indy’s role in Sage and Fisher’s relationship. I will definitely be reading more of Dewitt!
I mainly listened to this one and the dual POV narration was excellent.
This is a new to me author and I’m loving the flow. This beautiful written small town, grumpy/sunshine, and slow burn romance was enthralling. Bonus points for the chef! I love all things dealing with cooking.
This dual narrators did a fantastic job at capturing all the emotions rolling throughout the novel and it’s one of the best I have listen to so far this year.
If you’re a mood reader like myself, this novel is perfect for satifiying the itch of a cozy, small town, GxS, slow burn, forced proximity, grief healing and so much more.
3.5 stars! I thought this was such a cute and easy listen. I don't usually enjoy audiobooks, but this one was so easy to keep up with no matter where I was or what I was doing. After reading a heavier, more emotional book, this was a good "cleanser". This small town, opposite attracts, dual POV was just what I need. She is a kooky small-town teacher, and he is a NYC chef. I really enjoyed the setting being in the Pacific Northwest. I loved the characters' names, Fisher is certainly my favorite. The author did such a good job with the heavier elements within the story. The slow burn wasn't too slow and didn't take away from the plot. It was a good foundation of their relationship to build up to, given both of their pasts. There is nothing better than a HEA especially with a little bit of steam! Another reviewer had suggested a sequel with Ellis and Wren, which I highly agree! I am grateful for the ability to read and review this novel.
I just reviewed Savor It by Tarah DeWitt. #NetGalley
This book was so good! City chef in a small town trying to rebuild himself and repair relationships. Deals with grief. Unexpected parenting, while developing a romance that is only for the summer. Steamy and funny make this a perfect beach read this summer.
'Savor It' is such a good book! There are so many gems packed into Fisher and Sage's story. It is fitting that the main female character's name is Sage, as she is certainly wise. This is my first read by Tarah Dewitt, and it won't be the last.
This story's characters are well-developed, believable, and incredibly relatable. Both Fisher and Sage have emotional wounds and baggage to work through. Fisher has suffered a great loss, making him incapable of moving forward and deciding what he wants for his life. He struggles with grief and finding what makes him happy again while trying to navigate a new life with his teenage niece, Indy. Sage is dealing with heartbreak but does everything possible to enjoy life as best she can. She pours love into the Spunes community and her animals but sometimes fails to give that same love to herself.
Fisher and Sage were perfect together. Their chemistry was amazing, and I loved their banter. They developed a deep and emotional connection that was beautiful to witness. They became each other's comfort zone, helping each other heal while becoming better versions of themselves. Their love story elicits so many emotions. There were happy moments that made me swoon, moments that made me laugh out loud, and moments that made me cry.
'Savor It' is beautifully written. It reminds us to savor everything in life and make the most of each day. I thoroughly enjoyed this phenomenal story and can't wait to read more from Tarah Dewitt.
NARRATION:
I cannot express how much I enjoyed the narration. Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber did a fantastic job with this story and these characters. These narrators are new to me, and this was one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to. Karissa and Zachary gave so much personality to the characters and brought them to life. Their highly entertaining performance made it impossible for me to stop listening to this story.
Thanks to Tarah Dewitt, SMP Romance, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the #gifted advanced digital copy and audiobook.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the audiobook review copy! Receiving this book from the publisher has not affected my review in any way.
I was on a romance high after finishing a good romcom read and was excited to pick up SAVOR IT. This was my first Tarah Dewitt book and it has some fairly consistent high ratings, but I still wasn't sure to expect. This one didn't do it for me, unfortunately, but I'm glad I picked it up to try it.
SAVOR IT is a small town romance with some opposites attract vibes and a touch of grumpy x sunshine. It felt like the author was trying a little too hard to make it be Stars Hollow meets Emily Henry meets Abby Jimenez. I felt like the writing was constantly trying to BE something and it just really didn't flow at all for me. Romances don't have to have plots, but when they're beautifully character-driven, I don't even notice. I struggled with these characters and they just felt pretty flat for me, so sadly, it was noticeable that not a lot happened here and those little moments where the characters are connecting were lost on me.
I'd say this is a little less rom-com than my normal preferences. It's not overly serious or full of grief despite it definitely being present. MMC Fisher has custody of his teenage niece after her mother died, but that happened three years ago, and FMC Sage's parents both died, but that was also a while ago. I was hoping for just a touch more banter, but what was there, I didn't really feel. The characters did have some good chemistry here and there, but it wasn't until later in the book that I started to feel it.
I just wanted a little more growth and a little more purpose. Obviously, the goal here is that they fall in love and Fisher & his niece end up moving to be with Sage or vice versa, but who really leaves the small town in these books? So we know that's really the end game. I just wanted a few other plot points to stand out, some more growth from other characters.... there were some good supporting characters with potential, but they all faded in the background when they really could have helped this small town charm shine. Everything really ended up falling a little flat.
The author also used the word "savor" WAY too much. It's cute to use it once, maybe twice, since it's in the title of the book, but when it's used like 8-10 times, it gets annoying and forced.
I don't know if I'd try another Tarah Dewitt book. I actually would have DNFed this one, but it was a review copy from the publisher and I had already DNFed a couple other review books and didn't want to do that to so many. It wasn't a BAD read, but I knew I wasn't going to click with it when I hadn't gotten there at 25-30%.
AUDIOBOOK THOUGHTS: This was narrated by two of my absolute favorites, Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber in a dual narration. I really liked their narration, but the story didn't really help their voices shine and bring this book to life. I adore Zachary Webber but sadly, I felt like his narration was a little dull here, probably because I felt like Fisher was a little dull. There just wasn't enough range emotion to pull from and things ended up being cheesy instead of romantic. Karissa Vacker also did a nice job, but like with Zachary Webber, it was just a little boring due to the characters not being as interesting as I wanted them to be. I would still recommend them as narrators, though, and if it had been narrators that I DIDN'T love, I really would have probably DNFed.
This was such a sweet romance story. Sage is such a fun character, and her banter with Fisher was great. They were so cute together and I thought that they balanced each other perfectly. While there is a third act breakup, the characters had great communication throughout. The characters were so refreshing, and handled the situation maturely.
The narrators were great and kept my interest throughout. Their voices brought the characters to life, and I would recommend the audio for this one.
Read if you enjoy:
✔️Dual POV
✔️Forced proximity
✔️Small town
✔️Single guardian
✔️Fake dating
✔️Summer romance
Thank you @macmillan.audio for my ALC!
INCREDIBLE. the audio was 10/10 I loved this story so so much. The romance was perfect and I loved the small town setting. I shed a few tears with this one and I related so much to sage. The author did so great with the characters and the overall feeling of the book. Please write more. I need them all.
"You're all the shapes made perfectly to hold me, and you're all my favorite colors."
Sage Byrd is a loving, quirky ray of sunshine. She brings joy to whomever she encounters. I'm not surprised that Fisher and Indy were attracted to her. She was the balm that Indy needed in a world that has been full of ups and downs, a calm in the storm called teenaged life. If not for Sage, Fisher may have not figured out what Indy really needed or wanted. But more than that, Fisher and Sage were complete opposites who balanced each other out. Fisher's had this standard he's had to live up to. Those Michelin stars aren't given without merit, and he did want to return to the culinary world he temporarily left behind, but at what cost? Is it worth the notoriety if you aren't truly happy?
Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber brought this book to life. The characters, their quirks, their personalities.....everything! Karissa is a new to me narrator and I look forward to listening to more of her work. Zachary is like an old friend, breathing life into characters and their stories.
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
