Anesthesiologist Dr. Andrew Kadar shares his story of unexpected open-heart surgery and recovery from the dual perspective of doctor and patient. His story is well written and interesting. Especially given my own elevated risk of heart disease, I loved learning from his experience. He is able to share the fears and frustrations common to patients, interspersed with the understanding of a physician. I now feel like I will be better prepared and less afraid if I require treatment for heart disease.
I highly recommend this book for fans of memoirs and medical stories or those who are curious about open-heart surgery.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.
I wrote this book to help patients and their loved ones better navigate a medical crisis. I also wanted to tell my story of open-heart surgery from the dual point of view of a patient and a doctor. I learned a lot from this experience and think sharing my lessons can help others deal with similar illnesses. I hope that people will feel they are reading an absorbing story that can also inform them in case they or their loved ones face a medical crisis.
