Two brothers lose their parents in a tragic accident when they were young. NIgel was able to move on, complete school and works as professor. His brother Caleb, on the other hand is stuck in the past suffering from agoraphobia - the fear of public places and not remembering the details of the accident. Caleb lives through Nigel's experiences but when Nigel meets and fall in love with Karen and he keeps this hidden from his brother Caleb. Caleb feels the distance as Nigel starts to feel more time with Karen, leaving Caleb out. When Caleb starts to dig to see what his brother is up to, he discovers Karen and he too fall in love with her. The book is told from both brother's point of view, It was a bit slow at times and the ending left me hanging,
