This was a cute book. Enemies to lovers is always a fun trope to read.
Rosie (Rosalinda) and Aiden were written so well, in their respective side of the trope. Rosie the lover, Aiden the fighter. Reading their fights was funny at times, but also relatable.
The book (and the book within) gives us the HEA we're all looking for.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this as an ARC. My review is my honest opinion.

A perfect, cozy read for the holidays. Enemies to lovers will win me over every single time! Thank you, NetGalley for a copy of this eARC.

I’ve tried I really did, I could not seem to care about any of the characters. It was so repetitive and cringy that it all just threw me off. I liked the first 10% of it and then it all started going downhill.

Not in my book by Katie Holt
Rosie and Aiden spend most of the time in their writing workshop griping at each other. The other students are used to their antics but their professor has had enough.. She tells them to write a book together, blending their genres together. They both want to stay in the group so they reluctantly do as they are told. The more time they spend together, the more they have to confront their feelings and they seem to be doing just that on the pages of the book they are writing together…. Everything seems to be moving forward until a career changing opportunity reignites the animosity.
I really enjoyed this one. I thought the grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers was done really well. I really liked Rosie… I wasn’t a fan of Aiden. I thought he was one of the major problems throughout the book. I don’t feel he was in the right when the fight happened and his personality isn’t enough to make up for how horrible I still think he is. (sorry)
All in all though the book was great, I was really entertained. It was clever and fun with some really heartfelt moments. I think it did a great job of proving that just because you are very different from someone else, there is always common ground and it’s all about give and take. Some excellent writing here and it kept a really solid pace.
It wasn’t as romancey as I thought it would be and that was actually ok 🙂

Not in My Book is an enemies to lovers romance featuring two people in a writing class - he can't stand romance and makes his opinions very openly in class, and she can't stand that she's still attracted to him.
Recommended to romance fans!

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

I really enjoyed this book, quick read and I couldn't put it down!
An enemies to lovers story I could fully get behind!
I love the way the characters use the story they are writing together as a form of communication - it gives you so much more insight into the characters and adds such an interesting element all around.
Highly suggested as a quick, spicy, romance!

Reader be warn: This is a door wide open romance.
I know I am in the minority but Rosie and Aiden appeared very childish and cringey. They were immature in their interactions with each other. Sorry but this fell flat for me.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and my opinions are my own.

If you’re looking for a grumpy-sunshine, black cat meets golden retriever, enemies to lover type of romance, this is one that will surely do the trick!
Rosie and Aiden are polar opposites. While Rosie has committed her life to romance, Aiden believes that only literary fiction deserves praise. While Rosie is giving everything she has to be in this masters program for creative writing, Aiden could walk away from his career today and his ultra-rich father would be thrilled he’s taking on the family business.
So when Rosie and Aiden’s constant bickering drives their professor to pair them to write a romance without a happy ending, the duo is far from thrilled over the opportunity. The story should incorporate both of their passions, but neither of them is happy with the outcome. As they begin to work on the story, the lines between fact and fiction begin to blur, and maybe, just maybe, they’ll be able to put aside their differences to create something magical.
I feel like I’ve read a lot of story-within-a-story types of books recently, but I did really enjoy Rosie and Aiden’s partnership. I wouldn’t say anything about this story was necessarily unique, and it was pretty predictable on how the entire plot would shake out, but this was a good palate cleanser and uplifting read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Alcove Press for the advanced copy of this read in exchange for my honest review.

Such a wonderful book, you can see the inspiration for the story and I loved how the relationship was being handled through the last paragraphs of each chapter, it gave the reader a good inside knowledge of how both of them were feeling, which was a unique way to expose information.
Loved the cover and had the opportunity of having the audiobook and the ebook, which was just so wonderful reading the parts that were from their book and what was actually happening, also the narrator did a good job with the Spanish parts and the male dialogue.
It was refreshing to see their relationship and the representation of Latin American culture, being from Latin America myself, it was interesting learning about some traditions that Peru and my country share, so you can clearly see that the author is putting her experiences in this and it was good book throughout, it was a 4,5 for me but it was sooo close to five, I don't really like it when couples fight, but it was necessary even I felt so sad.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for this book and audiobook I hope to read more from this author in the future

Not In My Book brings us Rosie, who is a romance writer, and Aiden, a literary fiction writer, having to come together and write a book that combines both of their genres. They always are so critical of each other in their writing workshop it seems like an impossible feat.
I devoured this book in one sitting. I loved it. Apparently, this is Katie Holt's debut novel. I will make sure this is not the last book of hers I read.
I truly enjoyed Rosie and Aiden. Rosie is not afraid to tell it like it is. Aiden has a sweet, tender side that he has a hard time showing. They both have a spark towards each other that continues to grow. I loved that their book paralleled their own relationship. The slow burn and the spice was perfection. I shed a tear at their first kiss.
I read more about the author, Katie Holt. I love that she is someone who fights for romances to be taken seriously. There is obviously a lot of her in Rosie.
Thank you to NetGalley, Alcove Press, and Katie Holt for the e-ARC of this book. This review is my own opinion.

I really wanted to love this book because the premise was amazing but, unfortunately, this book didn't work for me in the way I hoped. I really liked the academic and NYC setting. It was a quick and engaging read. However, I felt like the excerpts from the book they were co-writing were too repetitive. I would have liked it better if the book they were co-writing was more veiled and not taken directly from their own interactions. The co-written book also didn't have any literary fiction aspect to it. They just kept talking about how he wanted to give the characters a poor ending to make the book literary fiction, but there could have been more litfic aspects of the book besides just "killing off a character." Also, I never really bought into why they strongly disliked each other. It was too much, and I felt a little secondhand embarrassment at the way they fought so immaturely in workshop. The conflict at the end of the book didn't sit well with me either. I feel like the MMC said some pretty unforgivable stuff during the argument.

The cutest book ever! Always a sucker for enemies to lovers. GOT IMMEDIATELY HOOKED IN THE BEGINNING BECAUSE OF THEIR BANTER 🥰

Rosie had dreams of coming to New York, making it big in the literary world. But things aren't turning out quite the way she imagined. Especially when she finds herself enrolled in a class with her nemesis Aidan Huntington. Aidan is all about literary fiction. He doesn't have the time or the patience for Rosie's romantic stories. And he isn't shy about voicing his opinions in class. Of course, Rosie is happy to give it right back to him.
When their professor has had enough of their sometimes less than civil exchanges, she offers them a choice drop the workshop or work together on a project that blends both their genres. With their initial efforts less than successful, they decide the best way to handle the assignment is to alternate chapters. They communicate by text and notes in their documents. But as time wears on, the lines between fiction and realty start to blur. After all, don't they say there is a fine line between love and hate?
From the beginning, Rosie and Aiden were perfect foils. However, despite their legendary class "discussions" it was clear there was more between them. Their banter was both amusing and frustrating. But the evolution of their relationship felt natural. It was experienced through their writing. Though they had difficulty expressing their feelings directly, they had no problem expressing those feelings through the words of their characters. I loved the banter and felt the emotion as Aiden and Rosie started growing closer.
This book was full of warmth and emotion. The relationships felt natural, the dialogue fun and witty. It was just a fun story to read.

this book was quite meta in the sense that the fmc rosie and the mmc aiden are paired together to write a litfic romance novel where they basically speak to each other in alternating chapters writing them into their enemies to lovers story. tbh i think this was a bit too much, and felt too much like the embodiment of the advice “write what you know.” the writing itself was enjoyable but the multilayered-ness of it kinda threw me off. i wouldn’t recommend!

This was the cutest enemies to lovers book. I loved that they were writing their own enemies to lovers book while they lived out the story. It gave the story a deeper level that I think made the book what it was.

This book was hard for me to get into, and personally the plot seemed a little basic. I enjoyed the multicultural romance aspect, but in general, this wasn't a favorite of mine.

This is like enemies to lovers, grumpy sunshine, forced proximity kind of vibe. The way Rosie and Aiden are bickering but on a writers level is chefs kiss. Both can’t be more different from each other than they are. But still they have this tension going on between them. After they are forced to write a novel together they get to know each other and learn from each other. This was so sweet to watch (read) how they fall for each other more and more. I love that Katie Holt really takes her time with the romance and the build-up. As a reader I get the chance to feel why these two opposite characters fall for each other.
I also love how we get to see glimpses of the book they're writing together and it is perfectly woven into the story of the book.
Even the spice in this book is well done (although there isn’t a ton of it in here). The spicy scene they have to write for their novel… yes yes yes! And who would have thought a guy in a peacoat loves the dirty talk!
What I’m struggling with is the 3rd act breakup. I don’t need it the way it takes place in this book. It can be done other than that and Aidens explanation is kind of meh.
Nonetheless Katie Holt gives us a really enjoyable debut novel. Can't wait for here next release.

This is one of, if not my top, reads of 2024! What a debut, Ms. Holt!
I’m super impressed with everything about this one - they’re comparing it to two of my other (past years) top faves, Beach Read and The Hating Game, so I’m both not surprised, and very glad she’s lived up to the hype! It’s absolutely amazing and such a gem - and multicultural at that.
If you haven’t yet heard about Not In My Book, look no further - grab your copy by this newbie Peruvian author, and you’ll be hooked. The main character, Rosie, is also Peruvian. She’s in a writing seminar at NYU, and is constantly bickering with another, awful student (there’s the Hating Game element). The professor, who she thought was a friend, is going to throw them both out which means a fail, until they convince her they can be civil. She forces them to write their assignments together (Beach Read, but also elements of The Roughest Draft, written by the married couple) to prove it.
The professor also has Rosie write and submit a novel for an apprenticeship and enemy Aiden encourages it… but that’s another sub plot.
As the pair works together and learns about their lives and how different they are, they discover how compatible their writing is, even though their genres are completely different (he, a literary writer who always scoffed at her romance, but is now writing literary romance)… but he’s still trying to force an ending to the book that she’s against. The story begins to mimic the development of their own friendship and relationship…
I am so in love with this book and will highly encourage everyone else out there to pick it up! It maybe won’t change your life, but you’ll have one of the best reads you can find in a very long time!
A huge thanks to NetGalley and Alcove Press for the early reader copy. This is my honest feedback.

Rosie is living in New York and attending a NYU masters program for fine arts part time. She is in love with romance books and wants to write romance novels. Rosie is from Tennessee so the shock of NY was a lot. Her aunties used their chain of command and found Rosie a roommate that is Persion as well and that had a room available.
Rosie works at a restaurant part time and has a great relationship with her roomie Alexa who is also her coworker. One person she does not a have a good relationship with is classmate, Aiden.
Aiden refuses to call her Rosie and calls her by her full name Rosalinda. He tears apart her writing every week and Rosie is starting to think maybe her writing isn't good. He is a native New Yorker, wears a peacoat that makes him look entirely too handsome, and he is just cruel.
When Aiden and Rosie start having outbursts in class, their professor tells them they have to drop her class. She can't have interruptions like that happening. They plead to stay in her class and agree to team up to write a romance novel without a happy ending. Now Rosie and Aiden are trapped writing together week after week where they finally start to get to see each others true colors. Neither one is how they initially appear.
I absolutely loved the banter and the crazy antics both main characters got into. The character development was fantastic in this book and I especially loved Rosie's family.
