A Sky Full of Dragons is the first book in a new middle grade fantasy series, perfect for younger fans of Harry Potter. This is a whimsical and quirky story that had me chuckling out loud. I really appreciated the diversity in this book as well.
I initially picked up this book because I saw a review that comped it to Harry Potter. While I certainly understand the comparison, as an adult reader this story lacked much of the tension and danger that I got from the Harry Potter series. However, I think this book is a fantastic recommendation for fantasy-loving kiddos in the target age group.
The back-to-school setting and overall coziness makes A Sky Full of Dragons a great fall fantasy read!

Y'all. This is SUCH an adorable read!! I'd love to read this one with my nieces, I think they'd fall hard for these quirky, whimsical characters and their fantastical world of unicorns, dragons, and mummy cats. I laughed, I cried, I cheered for Spella. This is a middle grade book, but I'm nearing middle AGE and still loved it myself 🤣
There is obviously a lot of fun fantasy in here, but also some important topics and themes. I love when books (of any genre) teach you something, even if it's how to make a hat for a unicorn, and this one sneaks in some pretty serious lessons between the laughs and smiles. Definitely pick it up for spooky season, especially if you have a young reader!
