This was a fun and sweet cozy mystery. I can always count on Janice Thompson to deliver a heartwarming, faith-filled story that makes me laugh and leaves a big smile on my face. This story achieved that and so much more. I enjoyed it so much!
I loved how focused on family this story was. The Hadleys were a great group of people who I instantly loved. They were entertaining to read about, and I liked seeing the genuine love they had for each other.
This was a murder-free mystery, which was nice for a change. I was very intrigued by the mystery. Who stole Tilly? And why? There were plenty of viable suspects with motive, and I never could narrow down the suspect list.
This was exactly the right book at the right time for me. I needed a lighthearted and fun story, and this fit the bill perfectly. If you’re in the mood for a light cozy mystery set in a charming small town that's filled with likable characters, you’ll love this book.
I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.
This was a really enjoyable read! Janice Thompson is one of my go-to cozy-mystery authors, and I so enjoyed this first installment in her new series. Defo looking forward to reading more of the books as they come out!
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
An enjoyable cozy mystery with romance and faith.
Clues are dropped along the way, with a family history connecting suspects, but it kept me guessing up until the end. A renewed friendship between RaeLyn and Mason added some romantic tension and a bit of complication to the plot, as he is a possible suspect. The Hadley family dynamics were well done, with a lot of sibling interaction, and made the story feel more authentic. Felt like taking a trip home, especially with the family dinners cooked by Aunt Bessie Mae. She was a kick.
Recommend to readers who enjoy a lighter mystery with faith, family and a little romance. 4.5 stars

"Tracking Tilly by Janice Thompson is such a good book set deep in the heart of Texas. This book talks about old cars, antiques, Texas bluebells, family and friendship. There are definitely some heavy topics at times with fractured relationships but overall the book was very enjoyable trying to figure out which of the quirky townsfolk may have stolen "Tilly", an old red truck that belonged to the main character RaeLynn's Pawpaw, who passed away some time ago. The truck disappeared the morning after she won the auction to bring Tilly back to her family.
As RaeLynn and her best friend Tasha become amateur sleuths trying to figure out who stole Tilly. There is also a bit of romance in the book as well which helped to keep it a light read. I really liked that this is mystery about a stolen item, not the typical murder mystery full of danger. There are light faith themes and mentions of going to church but not overall heavy or in depth with faith themes. I would have liked more but still enjoyed the story. It has a very clean storyline as well.
It looks like this is the beginning of a new series and I look forward to seeing what the author does in the next books for this series. I've read other books by Janice Thompson and this one is definitely one of the best ones I've ready by her.

This is book one of a new series by Janice Thompson. We meet Raelyn Hadley along with her family. The family ranch is in financial trouble. Raelyn is in the process of opening an antique shop on the ranch to try to bring in extra income. One thing she thinks will draw people to the shop is to have the old Chevy truck, Tilly, that her grandfather had when she was a little girl. She finds that it will be in an auction and uses her funds to win the bid over a few others buy it. The truck was to be delivered from the auction house the next day but was stolen from the property during the night.
Now Raelyn, family members and friends have become sleuths to figure out who stole the truck. This is a sweet cozy mystery as we meet the family members, their lives, and those of many of her friends in town.
I would recommend this book for those that love to read cozy mysteries with romance added. Thanks to NetGalley and Barbour for the copy. The opinions expressed are my own.

RaeLyn Hadley won her grandfather’s old truck (aka Tilly) in a bidding war at a local auction house. However, it was stolen out of the lot the next morning before she could have it towed. RaeLyn was almost outbid by three different people, so one of them is probably the culprit. One of the side stories is RaeLyn reconnecting with her old friend Mason. This story is supposed to center around RaeLyn and her family trying to locate her missing truck, but in reality it is more of a snapshot in the life of the Hadley family.
I am not even sure that I would classify this as a cozy mystery. It was a very sweet story, but I feel that what should have been the main part of the story seemed to take a back seat to life on the Hadley farm. There was some faith content but it was not front and center to the story. At times in the book you can see Christ reflected in the actions of the characters
I would recommend this book to people looking for a mystery like book that does not revolve around murder.. I would not recommend this book for anyone looking for a true mystery.
This author always provides a fun and easy read. These stories are filled with mystery, romance and a side of quirkiness! Bessie Mae was by far my favorite character and her frequent references to John Wayne were endearing!

What a wonderful story!
When I first started it I wasn't sure I was gonna like it but I loved it by the end.
I loved that it was told from Raelyn's point of view. It made this story that much easier to connect to.
Family is everything in this amazing story. I loved that Raelyn's family was so very close and how they lifted each other up when times were tough.
I believe that finding Tilly has taught this family the meaning of love, heartache and friendship with the community.
I did NOT like Meredith from the get go. I felt that she was sneaky and whatever else you want to call her just bad news all the way around.
I loved this delightful story and will be one of my favorites for 2024.
5 stars for keeping me interested all the way through and for leaving me thinking about these characters for a long time to come.
I highly recommend. I couldn't put the novel down until Raelyn finished her story.

When reading a book by Janice Thompson, my experience has always been consistent. I know her stories encompass family, friends and faith, all my favorites. This book is no exception; it perfectly fits that description, with some intrigue in the mix.
RayLyn Hadley used nearly all of her savings to buy her grandfather, “Papaw’s” beloved 1952 truck at an auction. Although it turned into a bidding war, she was happy to win “Tilly,” and all the precious memories that came with the old truck. Her former high school boyfriend, Mason, also at the auction and had bid for Tilly too, agreed to tow Tilly to her family farm in the morning. Although the truck was in a locked, fenced-in yard, Tilly was no longer there the next morning. RayLyn’s first thought was Mason had already picked up Tilly. Her next thought was did Mason steal Tilly? They had not seen each other in ten years, not since he left for college with her best girl-friend. RayLyn wasn’t even aware that he had moved back to town.
RayLyn, along with family and close friends, go on the hunt for Tilly, thinking of every possible person who might have taken Tilly, as well as figuring out who could have gotten inside the locked gate. Numerous suspects came to mind and although they checked them out, Tilly seemed to have completed disappeared in their small town.
As the search for Tilly was never far from RayLyn’s mind, she was also working long hours converting their family barn into an antique shop. Every suspicion of where Tilly could be proved to be a dead-end.
This was a heartwarming story of family and friends, who had their own issues and lives, and yet they reached out to help with the search for Tilly, and to prepare the barn for the grand opening of the antique store.
There is a large cast of characters in this delightful, sweet story. They are relatable and not easily forgotten.

This is the first time I've read anything by Janice Thompson. This book was full of family relationships, letting go of past grudges, and moving forward. The mystery of Tilly and who stole her and sleuthing with Aunt Bessie Mae was fun. Raelyn was determined to find the missing Tilly. This book is set in Texas and made me want to see a field of blue bonnets.
If you are looking for the perfect light summer whodunit, then look no further. Thompson has created an engaging story that will keep you guessing until the very end. This was a different type of read for me, but I am already looking forward to book 2. You will not be able to put down this small town family adventure until Tilly is finally found. Recommend!

Loved reading the awesome and inspirational story. After RaeLyn buys the red truck, Tilly, at an auction for six thousand dollars, her truck is stolen right out of the locked parking lot. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written full mystery and captivating characters with a must read riveting storyline.
RaeLyn has been saving up to buy back her grandfather's red truck, Tilly. Trouble is-- she won the bid but the truck has gone missing. This is a fun and easy to read cozy that highlights a great farm community and digs up past grudges and secrets. It's book one in the series, which looks to be an enjoyable start. Thompson's writing is entertaining with perky and witty characters. If you enjoy a light cozy read, you'll love Tracking Tilly. I received a free copy with no expectations.
A wonderful story about family and community coming together. Such an inspiration to see generations working together to share love and life.
A cozy type mystery. Good characters and mystery. A little humor thrown in as well. A fun story!
