First off I want to thank Quinn for encouraging me to keep going when I was about to DNF this one about 45% in.
I’m gonna be honest the main character are SUPER unlikable. If that’s a deal breaker for you it takes until about 70% for us to see them as more human and fully understanding them doesn’t come till the very end.
But I’m gonna be honest this one made me cry. And stressed healing yourself and not others. And kept me guessing. There was a lot of good. I just had to move past the characters. It reminded me of how I didn’t like the characters in The Anti-Hero also by Sara Cate but they grew on me.
If you like morally grey characters and a ton of spicy times this one might be for you! But please read the trigger warnings before diving in!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5/5

Sara Cate never disappoints with the characters she creates and this book is no different. The steam between the two main characters builds perfectly and I'm looking forward to the second one in the series.

Perfect for Marriage of Connivence trope lovers. Sylvie has absent parents who have recently cut her off, that's okay, she just got offered a coupe million dollars if she marries a broody Scotsman for a year and then signs the house over to the family. She never planned to fall for him, as they all do. She gets emotionally invested in Mr. Killian when he leaves the manor for the first time to go looking for her in town to make sure she is safe. I will say this is not as spicy as other Sara Cate books, but still a steamy read.

Another outstanding steamy read from Sara. This marriage of convenience will deliver on all your kinky vibes, and some you didn’t even know you had. While giving all the delicious enemies to lovers tension.

Whilst Sara Cate is an amazing writer (girlie could write a dictionary and I would devour it), I struggled to connect with Keep Me. Don't get me wrong, a sexy scotsman all mysterious and broody is amazing, the name calling and pettiness between these two was not for me.

I really adored this book and need more of them immediately!! The characters were so thought out and unique. The spice!? HELLL YEAHHHHH. I beg, on my knees, for more of these characters. Pretty please with a cherry on top.

If you love drama in a book then you have come to the right place. This is the story of a Scottish hermit basically and a young Americans girl who is a writer. His family is known to have a rare typewriter. She just had to see that and decided it was a great idea to sneak into his hermit. This is the sort of happened ehen she gets caught. This has a Beauty and the Beast feel to it and I really liked reading it.

I’ve read a few of Sara Cate’s books before, but this is by far the most emotional one. I loved seeing the journey of both Sylvie and Killian, and how they grew together. I enjoyed both of their characters so much, they had an insane amount of chemistry. They both overcame a lot of things in the course of the book, and they couldn’t have done it without each other. I can’t wait for the rest of this series to come out!

This enemies to lovers/marriage of convenience story was not what I expected. I was fully prepared for a great, spicy romance with little plot. What I got was two damaged characters who find the encouragement to heal themselves in each other. Don't get me wrong, there was some pretty decent spice in this one. However, the author kept alluding to how "kinky" the male lead was without delivering.

Sara can do no wrong! I adored this book. I am so so so glad that she has a fully read book out in the world for people to be able to read. Her writing and story telling is like no other and this one was no different. Killian and Sylvie were perfection and I love a good marriage of convenience book.

this was such a fun start to a new world! a marriage of convenience and they are both grumpy?! add in the scottish highlands? yes please!

What happens when you break into a brooding Scotsman's home to just take a picture of a typewriter?
Well, you get put into a marriage of convenience, for him to keep the family home and for you to make some money, because you are blessed with a pair of self-absorbed artists for parents. Remember darlings, we are just doing this for a quick buck. Don't fall in love, don't commit adultery, oh... and we have to make it look and feel real.
Does she have what it takes to make it the full year with this agreement? What's the deal with the family home and why do they want to take it from him?

Keep Me by Sara Cate is such a gripping, emotional read full of angst. The characters are raw and flawed in a way that feels so real, and their journey together is full of passion and heart. It’s not just about the marriage of convenience and enemies to lovers slow burn romance (which is seriously steamy), but also about trust, healing, and finding the strength to open up to someone else. The story pulled me in right away, and I couldn’t stop reading until I knew how it all played out. If you love romance with depth and a little bit of edge, this one’s a must!

Unfortunately, this book didn't do it for me. I'm usually a sucker for broody MMCs, but for me, the dynamic of this couple was just TOO mean and dark. I don't mind a bit of conflict in an enemies-to-lovers trope, but for me personally, I couldn't envision being in a relationship with someone who spoke to me the way these two did.

There is something about a grumpy/grumpy dynamic that is just not done enough in romance, and I loveddddd how well this one did it!
💍 Marriage of Convenience
🏴 Grumpy X Grumpy
💍 Kinky Vibes
🏴 Scottish Broody Billionaire
💍 Enemies to Lovers
🏴 Forced Proximity
These two truly do get married against their wills, and yet even with all the grumpiness and hate towards each other, the tension is to not be ignored. And seeing their hatred morph in to love really was such a beautiful transition.
The 3rd act breakup was something that truly was necessary here, and she did make it lasttttt - but when you see how it pays off, it is all worth it!

This is the first book in the Sinful Manor series and can't wait to read the rest. Loved the Scotland setting, the romance between Killian and Sylvie and the overall storyline.

Killian and Sylvie are incredibly stubborn and grumpy with the world. There's no sunshine here. This modern day beauty and the beast retelling was shockingly fantastic!
Killian is a giant Scott ish man who refuses to leave his home and I promise it's actually quite sad and heartbreaking when you find out the reasoning why. Sylvie is daring, headstrong, and pretty fierce when she walks into Killian's home searching for a typewriter. Killian scares her off only for her to have to return later in a crazy contract that she can't refuse. She must marry Killian for a year. The plot keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting for this all to blow up.
Killian and Sylvie have a very unconventional relationship, but just like beauty and the beast. This beauty ends up falling for the beast and he opens up to her. Ultimately she saves him from himself.

Keep Me was the Scottish book of every readers dream.
The marriage of convenience, how they met, grumpy/sunshine and just everything in-between was great in this book. Both characters had real issues to deal with and it was cool to see it unfold. Personally, I love when romance books deal with the big issues and finding someone to love and push you through it. This book really did it for me.
Now, this is a bit different from SC's work in the past. But it doesn't mean I didn't love it any less. My 4 star rating is due to the POV changes seemed a bit clunky. I kind of wished that was more streamlined or easily digested.

Forced proximity and a fake relationship in a Scottish manor with an extra grumpy brute? Where do I sign up? This one gave me all types of feels and enjoyed every minute of it.
Recluse and closed off, Killian does everything in his power to resist Sylvie, who has issues of her own. These two have an immediate dislike to each other and argue constantly… until they don’t and that’s were the magic of Sara Cates heat comes in.
It was a good read. I would recommend if you are in the mood for a ETL with a broken hero.

I partly didn't like this book because dark romance isn't really my jam. I don't care for the damage and broody MMC who can't possibly let the FMC see what he really desires because it will scare her off. The relationships all seem pretty toxic which further turns me off.
