I loved the premise of this book! It was fun, sweet, and spicy. I loved the characters, specifically Anika. She was real, honest, and loyal. I loved that Luca fell so hard for Anika! I loved these two; they were fun and lovable.
I enjoyed the narration for the most part, but there were definitely times where it felt a little off, but still very enjoyable narration by Kitty Bang.

I will be honest, The Bachelor is one of the few reality shows that I'm not into, but boy did I love the concept in My Royal Showmance by Lexi Blake. This is the second book in the Park Avenue Promise series, and I love the group of female friends the series is based on. Even though I read Start Us Up almost a year ago, I had no problem jumping into this one since the series is based on individual characters. I loved our headstrong and confident but maybe too trusting FMC Anika, and I was glad to see Blake taking on the topic of sexual harassment, especially in a world with songs like Woman's World by Katy Perry and the mess that is Harvey Weinstein.
I listened to the audiobook which is what I did with the first book, and I don’t know if she was having an off day but I was not a fan of Kitty Bang’s narration as much as I was the first time around. She had such long pauses even when I was on 3x speed, and I have no idea if that was actually her issue or an editing issue, but it was not something I was happy with. Her narration was excellent at other times though, and I still loved the book despite this. If you are a fan of reality TV (especially shows like The Bachelor) and want a laugh-out-loud, empowering, and sweet read My Royal Showmance is definitely all of those things and more. I loved the touch of German thrown in and the romance was 🔥
I loved this story ! These characters were hilarious and they had great chemistry with each other I loved this audiobook so much
I had so much fun with this book! It is fresh, witty, and has tons of romantic charm.
Anika works in TV production, but her boss has just given her a new assignment: To go undercover as an assistant on the latest dating show, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘢 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘦, to see if the director is sexually harassing people.
When Anika arrives and meets the bachelor, Prince Luca St. Marten, she’s shocked to realize she knows him, kinda. They had a meet-cute in a bar the night before.
Things get worse. When one of the contestants drops out, the show’s team adds Anika as a potential “princess” for Prince Luca.
The behind-the-scenes at the show adds drama and craziness, which keeps the plot moving.
Anika and Luca’s chemistry is off the charts, and their banter is amazing. They are both hiding their true purpose for being on the show, so the truth slowly unfolds. Luca has such a good heart, even with a hard past; he is proper and gentlemanly. He really is a Prince Charming. Anika is funny and has a big personality, but watching Luca date other princesses may be her death.
I love Anika’s friendship with Ivy and Harper; it’s a thread throughout this series.
Thank you @getredprbooks and @1001darknight_blueboxpress for a spot on tour and a gifted book.
Thank you @brillancepublishing for the gifted audiobook.
A fun and frothy take on the royal romance trope. I absolutely loved this and didn’t feel as though I missed anything coming into this book mid series! Will definitely be reading the others!
This was such a fun read! I love pretty much anything that has royals! And it was a sexy fun read. The audio was great for this one too.
I read the first book in the series so I was excited to read the next book in the series. I loved the premise of the story, but I had a strong distaste for portions of the execution. Let me start with what I loved, the reality dating TV show set up with royalty and the dialogue between the women on the show. I enjoyed the addition of Liv and Harper, circling back to the original friendship kept the books together while still allowing My Royal Showmance to work as a standalone. I appreciated that Anika had a strong moral compass, was willing to stand up for herself and others, and that she was an overall badass FMC.
What I didn't like was the open door SA without a warning. I listened to the beginning of the audiobook for a list of trigger warnings and didn't hear one, so I am assuming that isn't included in the print copy either. I also went to the authors website and didn't find a list either. While there is next to nothing that triggers me, that isn't the case for all. I immediately thought of a fellow bookstagrammer who was unfollowing people after the viral meme took over insta a week or so ago---you've probably seen it, the women with a man, a man grabs her hand and the man she's with goes for her neck. While it seemed like nothing to some people, it's traumatic for others. I can't imagine what she would have felt like to go into a relatively fun romcom and then be hit with a graphic description of what happened behind closed doors.
The narrator did a fabulous job with each character and I struggled to press the pause button so kudos to her.
Thank you Brilliance Publishing for the gifted ALC.

This is a cute and fun story. Anika and Luca have phenomenal chemistry. I enjoyed their witty banter. This is a fast-paced heart warming story that pulls you in from start to finish. This is a great addition to the series and I am looking forward to the next one in this series.
Kitty Bang was amazing narrating this story. She did a fantastic job brining the characters to life and adding emotion and humor to the story.
I was so excited to continue this series of three friends making their way in NYC and this story did not disappoint. Anika and Luca have great chemistry and one amazing night together till she gets the surprise of a lifetime when they meet again on a reality dating show. I really enjoyed the behind the scenes view of producing a show and the friendships formed during filming. There is a difficult situation with SA that the author handles sensitively. Luca's reason for doing the show is admirable and I enjoyed seeing them find their HEA. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a great job voicing these characters.
*ALC review* This was my 1st solo story from Lexi Blake (I've read stuff she co-authored with Shayla Black), and overall, I liked it. This story was definitely one for fans of any bachelor/backelorette reality show, equipped with everything from group dates, elimination ceremonies, and confessionals! Anika and Luca were fun characters, and I found myself wanting to know more about this couple and their journey towards their HEA. The narration was okay, I just found it didn't elicit enough emotions from me as much as I enjoy in an audiobook.
This is the second book in The Park Avenue Promise, a standalone in the series. I liked this sweet royal romance. Anika and Luca's story is entertaining, fun, and engaging. I liked their banter. Some scenes are hilarious. The supporting characters are great. Kitty Bang did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. I like Lexi Blake's writing.
This is book 2 in the Park Avenue Promise series (though I’ll have to catch up on book 1) This was quite a fun time! Anika is going to be sent by her boss to kind of keep an eye on a director on a new show (I’m saying it nicely lol). Her & her friends decide to have a night out before she goes to work on the new show, and she ends up meeting a truly yummy and intriguing man. A perfect night. The next day, her first day of work is in upheaval, her duties have changed, and the king who is looking for his new queen on a reality show is none other than her yumminess from the night before. Talk about a game changer! The ins & outs on the show are fun. Luca is, as stated, yummy. And Anika is a trip. Overall, I loved it!
This was such a cute book. I enjoyed the dating reality show theme. The confessions were fun and behind the scene production drama gave the plot balance. I felt like I was watching a show getting made.
It starts with a twist and an investigation that easily roped me in. Anika’s boss has asked her to pose as a production assistant to gather information about the director. When one of the contestants drops out, she finds herself replacing the contestant.
This was a well-rounded story. Anika and Luca’s relationship evolves on-screen but takes off off-screen. I enjoyed the forbidden romance vibe, but I really found myself connecting with all the characters, including the side characters. Anika and Luca were fun characters. I equally enjoyed getting to know the other contestants.
I enjoyed the audiobook, the narrator does a great job changing pitch for all the other characters. The speech pacing was a bit slow for me personally and I found it necessary to increase the listening speed to a 3 for it to flow at the talking speed I'm accustomed to.
Fans of the show The Bachelor you will LOVE this book! This book was so different from anything I have read and I had a blast listening to it.
Anika is working on the set of a Bachelor type show but the Bachelor is a King. She ends up getting roped into being a contestant. There were plenty of swoony moments along with moments that made me LOL. The side characters in this book are a lot of fun and I loved all the behind the scenes moments.
This is book 2 in a series and can be read as a standalone. I have not read the first book in the series but I am definitely adding it to my TBR
Going into this book, I was thinking it would a sexy story based on something like The Bachelor. And it kind of was, but I didn't feel like Annika and Luca's relationship was the point of the story. I felt like Ms. Blake really goes out on a limb to talk about inappropriate work behavior and people's ethics and how they view both men and women in the workplace. I found the story absolutely intriguing.
Of course Annika and Luca were the cherry on top. I loved hearing their story as the story unfolded.
I listened to this story on audio and it was such a great story! So glad I grabbed this one. The narrators did a great job bringing this one to life.
My Royal Showmance is book two in the "Park Avenue Promise" series. It is a reality dating show, romantic comedy. Anika and Luca's story is adorable with witty banter and all the feels. We get so many swoony moments and all the feels. We also get great side characters and their friendships. What an enjoyable read.
Kitty Bang did a fabulous job portraying these characters.
This is a fun quirky story. I loved it. I listened the audio version of this and I think it just added all the more depth to the story (being able to hear it).
Anika goes to work as a PA on a new dating show about a King of a small European country looking for his Queen. On her first day of the job a contestant drops out and she is told to take their place...the director promises he would make sure she was voted off the first night and then the show could go on. Well things didn't work out like they should have...
Kitty Bang did the narration for this book and she did an amazing job bringing these characters to life.
This audio started off a bit slow but very quickly picked up for me! Anika and Luca meet organically but only for a limited time. When they come face-to-face again, it’s very unexpected. But they couldn’t deny the chemistry between them! This was a delicious read, or listen in my case. It felt like we were seeing behind the scenes of reality tv. I liked how Anika stood up for others and how Luca really saw her. I loved Anika’s friendships both before the show and after. I didn’t want this book to be over! Grab your copy!
In sublime Lexi Blake fashion comes the second book in the Park Avenue Promise series, and it is a witty romcom meets reality television that is your next obsession. Anika, aka Ani, is a production assistant who knows what she wants and will do what it takes to get her there until her boss throws her a curveball. It’s not easy catering to the whims of others and Ani is not one to put up with any shenanigans. Luca, aka King Reg, is visiting The States in an effort to help his country reclaim its tourism and the funding it will infuse into the country’s coffers by agreeing to participate in a television dating show to find his bride. If you think you know how this will play out, you don’t. The chemistry between Ani and Luca is like the heat on the planet Venus and burns brighter than the sun. Ani’s best friends are a breath of fresh air inserting their two cents and giving Ani the push she needs to process what she is dealing with. Overall, this is one storyline that throws some surprises your way while including some more important conversations that are taking place in real life when dealing with workplace dynamics. I just could not put this down. As an added bonus, I listened to the audiobook as well. Narrator Kitty Bang brought the characters to life and took the written words to another level. Her portrayal of Ani was spot on and brought out her emotions effortlessly along with the other female characters. I would have liked to hear this as a dual narration as the tonal quality of the male characters could have used a deeper, richer, or more baritone sounding voice. The bottom line is you cannot go wrong with either the book or the audiobook, just make sure to add it to your shelf. I cannot wait to see what happens in book three.
