Unfortunately this wasn’t quite what I wanted it to be. I enjoyed the read at most times but felt that everything didn’t quite flow very well throughout. The visuals and advice is useful and Hayley is very funny too.

The honesty combined with humor while discussing some serious topics was refreshing. I’m a big fan of Hailey so I’m glad I was able to get my hands on her book

"Me vs. Brain" by Hayley Morris is a highly relatable exploration of the overthinking mind. I requested this audiobook because I enjoy her short-form videos, and I’m thrilled to say that the book captures her engaging style perfectly.
Morris combines humor and honesty as she navigates the challenges of overthinking, offering practical insights and relatable anecdotes. Her narration adds a personal touch, making it feel like a conversation with a friend who truly understands your struggles.
I’d rate this audiobook 5 out of 5 stars. It’s both entertaining and thought-provoking, making it a must-listen for anyone who finds themselves caught in their own thoughts. Thank you to NetGalley for my copy; all opinions are my own!

Me vs Brain was such an incredible audiobook to listen to. It was truly so relatable and I love that she discussed her anxiety and how she deals with it on a daily basis. I laughed so hard throughout listening to this and loved it so much

This was fantastic. I really enjoyed it and couldn’t stop listening. The narration was wonderful. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this audiobook.

‘Me vs. Brain: An Overthinker’s Guide to Life’ by Hayley Morris is hands down one of my favorite reads of this year (I listened as an audiobook & have already bought a copy as my “book trophy). But let’s be honest, I was probably the exact target audience for this book as (1) I have been a longtime fan of Hayley’s work on social media & (2) I am absolutely an Olympic-level overthinker.
In this part memoir part self-help book, Hayley serves up her usual (& amazing) brand of humor to examine the relationship she has with her brain & how she has struggled throughout her life with…The Voiceover. This is something we see in her everyday videos but this book is so open & raw & honest in such a personal way, & at an unexpected level, sometimes. She truly cracks open her brain (& heart, uterus, & vagina…not that way, you weirdo) to share thoughts, feelings, & experience.
And goddamn, is it relatable.
I mean, I have ~actually~ worried about accidentally putting in a second tampon when on my period & to hear this so hilariously expressed in her own words was validating in a way I never thought I’d feel. (Along with many other of the absurd thoughts she shares that were so relatable she could have gotten them from my own brain.)
And y’all. If you are able to, you should absolutely read this as an audiobook. I always recommend the audiobook for a memoir, especially if the author is also doing the audiobook (like Hayley), but also this audiobook specifically is just *chef’s kiss*. Hayley delivers this book with honesty, emotion, humor, sound effects, & we get to hear the voices of all our favorite body parts characters. I cried a bit & laughed a lot; what a delight of a human & a lovely book.
Thank you to NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for providing an advanced listening copy of this book for review. All thoughts & opinions expressed are my own.

DNF. I like Hayley Morris's TikToks, but this book didn't hit for me. I expected more stories, less voice acting.

I've never felt like my spiraling was so understood. I didn't know who Hayley Morris was (the day has come that my age begins showing, dun dun dunnnn), but she's definitely TikTok fame worthy from her writing.
I love how quick of a read/listen this was, too. I FLEW through this.
I'd recommend this to anyone who overthinks. It's a lighthearted take on our road trip in the struggle bus.
(Thank you bunches to NetGalley and publisher for ALC!)

I think that reading this book was a stretch for me, as I might not be the intended audience. I found myself repeating that I am not enjoying this book. No knowing the author or their "fame" might have led deciding to grab this book, but once I learned that they were a social media comedian, I found my desire to continue reading wane. Going in without reading the blurb is on me, I shouldn't have assumed this would be more medical vs supportive community style writing. This book will help many readers who want to know they are not alone with their feelings. As a library employee, I will be sharing this with my teen/early adult readers. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC and my opinions are all my own.

I loved this audiobook! I follow Hayley on Instagram and was so excited for this ARC. Hayley is hilarious and completely relatable.

Hayley Morris' voice has that comedic tone. This is actually my first time learning about her, so I wasn't at all familiar with her content before starting this book. As much as I want to like this, I just don't find it funny.

I loved the way this handled the co fusing nature of intrusive thoughts as you get older. From “drive this car off the cliff” to “they hate you actually” and everything in between.
It’s something that would have been so useful to myself as a teen. The voice and charm that comes through makes this a very apt book for a younger audience or those who develop anxiety and related divergences later in life.

I love that Hayley Morris narrated her own novel. Listening to this audiobook felt like watching a 5-hour Haley Morris skit on social media. I love that Hayley shares her intrusive thoughts, her anxious brain, and how she has learned to deal with them.
I felt Hayley's pain when she was describing the loss of her dad and the envy she felt for others that got to/get to experience life events with their dads. I lost my dad and I didn't get to walk down the aisle with him or have that father-daughter dance and it sucked.

Me vs. Brain (An Overthinker's Guide to Life) by Hayley Morris is a great listen. It is a heavy topic covered in a lighthearted way. While it didn’t offer a lot of tangible tips or action items, it did help me normalize my intrusive thoughts. The author is very funny and this was an enjoyable read. I enjoyed the narration by the author. I hadn’t heard of her before this book and I’m grateful I stumbled across this!

I have watched Hayley's videos in some time, so when I saw this book, I just had to read it.
It was funny surprisingly funny (I don’t know why I hadn’t seen that coming) and it made me unable to hear it in public because I was laughing too much. It was basically felt like one of her videos but like a prolog.
I also liked that she narrated it herself I just like when it’s the author narrating their book.
This book for sure makes more sense if you already know a bit about Hayley Morris and her content, but if you don’t it would probably be just as funny, though a bit confusing if you don’t already know her concept.

I enjoy Hayley Morris‘ short-format videos about being a woman as much as anyone does, but these first few pages (listened to in audio and narrated by the author herself) were proof to me that maybe… not everyone should write a book? Perhaps the most mid and mundane bit of forgettable writing my auditory system had to process this year. Sorry, Hayley.

I have been a fan of Hayley forever. I didn't know she was writing a book. but the hilariousness translates from the video to the book. I 100% recomend this book .

The cover and title of this book grabbed my attention first, but then as I began to read, I realized I KNEW that narrator! I have watched Hayley Morris's TikTok skits often. She has a talent for personifying body parts (like the brain) and creating dialogue around what those parts may think.
Her brand of humor and skit comedy works really well in short videos. I struggled to listen to the audiobook and fully follow along with the skits. Missing the visuals made things feel a bit cheesier and confusing.
That being said, the content itself was on brand, funny, and just "self help" enough to make you feel seen and less alone. Fans of Hayley will enjoy this, and readers new to her content may find an interesting avenue to her comedy.

I've been following Hayley Morris for years now, and I find her comedic skits about daily struggles with different parts of her body acted out absolutely hilarious. I was so excited to receive this ARC through #netgalley and be able to listen to Hayley narrate her book about her life, her struggles with anxiety/panic attacks, and dealing with grief. Her stories are hilarious, can cause second-hand embarrassment, and are most importantly relatable.
This is not my normal genre to review, and I find it very difficult to rate books that are so personal to people. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, especially the audio, which is narrated by Hayley herself with guest appearances by brain. So if you're going to read this, I highly recommend the audio. It's a super short listen at around 5.5 hours. So if you're looking for some laughs and stories to relate to your anxiety then definitely give this a listen.

I feel like those who are already used to Hayley Morris's humor will take to this book a whole lot better to those who are unfamiliar with her comedy. However, knowing her comedy and picking up the book because of it, the way that she expresses really difficult concepts and circumstances that she's gone through makes the book enjoyable, even through the rough things.
