My feelings on this audiobook were indifferent. The content was easy to understand, and I really enjoyed how the book was narrated as it held my attention. However, it was almost too fast paced for me. I wasn't entirely sure what I was expecting when I requested this book, but to anyone else who may listen - just know it's more like a bunch of short stories about various parts of Hayleys life while she lives with her brain.

I found some of the stories relatable and I laughed out loud more than once. However, I wouldn't recommend this book to someone who's looking for real help on how to deal with the narrator in your brain.

The audiobook is well done. Variations of voices,.dramatized. It's a fun listen! It's definitely a random book on a brain that never stops!! It's not my usual kind of book, but I can see how it will be a huge hit for some!

Well done.

I really, really enjoyed listening to Me Vs. Brain, though I do have to say I was really expecting it to be more of a "guide to life" as the title implies. It's actually more like a series of anecdotes and funny stories from the author's life.

I was not at all familiar with Hayley Morris before listening to this- I picked it up because I am a major over-thinker and thought it sounded fun. And I ended up absolutely falling in love with Hayley- she is hilarious and so personable and has a great voice for narrating a book.

Some parts of the book are a little bit cringy (lots of fart talk and sex talk, etc.) but for the most part it's super funny with lots of relatable moments. I loved the sound effects in the audiobook, Hayley's conversations with her brain, and so much more.

The book certainly isn't going to change my life or really teach me how to be less of an overthinker, but it is wildly entertaining and fun and made me feel not so alone with it all!

The production quality on this audiobook was one of the best I’ve listened to - very immersive.

I related to a lot of what Haley was talking about, and I’m sure anyone who over analyses life will too.

This audiobook took directions I wasn’t expecting, talking about issues I wasn’t expecting in an audiobook, but the author managed to tie it all together quite well. It made me a little uncomfortable at times, but overall was an interesting and captivating listen.

4.5⭐️

The audiobook was so good. I loved when audios are narrated by the author themselves for nonfiction and memoirs, it adds such an interesting touch and I found myself captivated even more.

I spent many chapters laughing out loud, it was like taking a drive through the craziness of my own brain and I loved it.

Hayley Morris has such a great way of presenting often hard topics to talk about in such a fun way that still does not deflect from the sadness, emotions, etc that are all involved. I lost my sister when I was 17 and when she talked about losing her dad, I was relating more than I think I ever have with anyone, and it was just a book.

I do not have an anxiety diagnosis because I am terrified of telling anyone what my brain looks like on a day to day, which seems like is a theme for people with these kinds of brains.

**Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for giving me an advanced copy of this audiobook.

Me vs. Brain was an incredibly fun introduction to Hayley Morris! I have laughed my butt off to Morris’ creative and hilarious social media content, and was so excited to dig into this book. I had high hopes for more laughs and getting to know Morris more behind her actual content, and the book delivered! Highly relatable, full of heart, and hilarious. I loved this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

'Me vs. Brain' was a quick and easy read. Listening to the audiobook in Morris' own voice conjured up some images in my mind of her sketches on TikTok. But it still fell a bit flat for me and the stories in the book were a bit all over the place. It felt like she really didn't have any direction with the book and just wrote about whatever came to her mind and whenever it popped up. To say the least, I was a bit disapointed in the end. It's advertised as an overthinker's guide to life, but it reads more as Morris' memoir for her fans. All in all, I would say the book is aimed more towards her fans than regular overthinkers.

My overall rating would be 2.5/5 stars.

I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for giving me a chance to listen to the audiobook version of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Hayley Morris for allowing me the opportunity to listen to this debut memoir.

I don't think I will request anymore bio-style books because the ones I have read, I have rated rather low. I LOVE watching Hayley's content on TikTok, but the book just didn't hit for me.

The initial hour of the book was quite amusing; however, the "newness" soon faded, leading to a rather monotonous experience. While the content may thrive in an Instagram/TikTok format, it felt overwhelming in book form, failing to fully engage me. The narrative did improve when it delved into grief, but by then, I was primarily anticipating the conclusion.

This book was so relatable I can´t put in words how much I loved listening to the audiobook.

I came across this audiobook while I was in a very bad overthinking phase yet again and thought "Hey, this could help?"
And yes, it actually did help. It was so wholesome and funny following Hayley and her inner (overthinking-) voice because, me too girl! This voice is always around and starts talking in the worst situations. And that´s exactly what Hayley is talking about in her book as well.
She´s talking about different phases in her life and in what situations her inner voice started to convince her to do or say something or maybe just dicourage her.
For example: "My boyfriend texted me a dry `Morning`, is he upset with me?" because wow, I can relate to that! It´s so good knowing that you´re not alone with this, that a lot of other people out there feel the exact same in certain situations.
This actually helped me to understand my feelings a little better and I definitely recommend this book to everyone who´s struggling with overthinking.

Me Vs Brain - Hayley Morris

Me Vs Brain is a memoir about Hayley's experience with overthinking and intrusive thoughts. I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook and liked the effects used, especially for the intrusive thoughts. I usually like the audiobooks I read to be narrated in a simple way, but for this book, I think the effects really worked and enhanced the experience.

I thought the honesty in this book was so refreshing, and I was able to relate to a lot of the things discussed. It was also a really funny book which I found really comforting.

I think this book would interest you if you like memoirs, need to feel reassured, or need a good laugh!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ebook in exchange for an honest review!

Big thanks to Hayley Morris and Netgalley for the audio ARC in exchange for a review.

I have been following Hayley for a while now and LOVE her videos. She's hilarious and so accurate on her comedic representation of various body parts and functions, and their personalities.

Her book called me out a bit on being an elder millennial so I had to google a few references that I missed in the ever changing pop culture revolving door.
The information about her dad was a very humanizing portion that came unexpectedly in a book I was expecting to be entirely comedic relief for those of us who share space with Anxiety, who has a louder voice than she deserves.
Grief comes in various forms and never truly leaves and it feels good to know there are others who who have a gap in their soul in the shape of another person.
Hayley did an excellent narration and I don't think anyone else would have kept the book in line with the online personality of Hayley.
I wish all the best for her and Brain.

4 stars.

What a fabulously fun listen this was! I was not familiar with Hayley Morris prior to this, and despite my usual irritation with all things Millennial, something about this one drew me in. I'm so glad I listened to my gut - something Miss Morris would definitely approve of teehee - as it was a very funny and engaging listen that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Told in a series of anecdotes, the book is designed to give you a sense of what it is to live in her head - it's a crazy place, but a snarky and clever one to visit! I found a surprising amount of her story relatable, as well as hilarious. There is a heartbreaking bid at the end, that was all too resonant with events in my own life during the pandemic, and it contributed to my overall sense of connection and compassion for this lovely woman.

This was a great find and having the author narrate was definitely a plus!

As a fan of Hayley's TikTok account, she proves her talent with this narration, and this production shows a new side to her comedy.

The most cringy, awkward, and intrusive thoughts-filled book that proves... we are all weird, and there is nothing to be embarrassed about!
Hayley Morris perfectly captures how we all have uniquely cringy moments, but they are all still universally the same.
Me vs Brain offers a safe place to laugh and relive your own personal worst moments.

"Me Vs. Brain: An Overthinker's Guide to Life" by Hayley Morris is a funny and relatable look at the urge to constantly worry and overthink life's details. Morris covers a variety of topics, from everyday concerns to major life events, all with her trademark wit. This book feels more like a comforting memoir than a self-help guide.

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by the author, which made the stories even more engaging. The added sound effects were a nice touch, making the experience more immersive.

Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing this heartwarming book in exchange for an honest review.

Me vs Brain is an incredibly relatable, down-to-hearth, and downright hilarious read! I laughed so much, cried a few times, and found myself nodding along in terms of how I relate. This is nonfiction but it read so well, that it had the ease of fiction, and made it unputtdownable. I binge read!

If you’re an overthinker (or wonder what it’s like to be one) this book is for you! Overthinking is absolutely normal, and wow, can it be a destructive cycle.

I listened to the audiobook version, which was read by the author herself, and it was so well done! I listened at 1.75x speed (my normal audiobook listening speed is 1.75-2x).

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audiobook copy!

Life is not easy when your brain is against you. Hayley Morris knows, as she’s bene fighting against her brain for a long time. She would have to go about her life while her brain would tell her how horrible she was. She would have to shake it off when her brain told her to hurt one of her friends, or hurt herself. She had to fight against her brain every time it told her she was stupid, ugly, boring, or unlovable.

Everyone who suffers from anxiety knows exactly what that’s like, me included.

But Hayley has taken her experiences with her anxiety and written them all down, making herself emotionally vulnerable in order to show the effects of her generalized anxiety disorder. And she is willing to tell it all, from her acne to bikini waxes, her trouble getting an oat milk chai tea to using dating apps. She doesn’t hold back, so it’s all fair game, from periods to pooping. Hayley has stories about it all.

Clearly, there is nothing more important to her than her family, so when her father comes down with dementia while Hayley was working in America, she longed to go back to the Isle of Wight to be with her family. Her parents encouraged her to keep working at Disney for the full amount of time she was supposed to, and after that she moved back home to help her parents. She got to spend several more years with her father, but her grief after his passing was profound. It was one of the things that propelled her to therapy, where she went into couples therapy with her brain.

I have struggled with anxiety myself, so Hayley’s stories of going to the emergency room for her first panic attack or her issues with imposter syndrome. I think this book would help other readers who struggle with anxiety, or those who care about the people in their lives who have anxiety. The way she talks about her relationship with her brain is illuminating as well as entertaining, and Hayley reads the audio book herself, so her narration is natural and inviting.

During a stressful time earlier this year, I was using short videos on social media to deal with my own emotional struggles, and Hayley’s videos started popping up in my feed. She records short pieces where she argues with her brain as well as other body parts about everyday things like going to the gym or deciding what to wear on a date. As soon as I saw that she had a book, I knew I wanted to read it. This is a woman who understands anxiety and who can express to others what it’s like to have to fight with your brain all the time. And this book does not disappoint.

I feel like Hayley Morris is a translator of anxiety to the non-anxious and a voice of reason to those of us who are overthinkers, and this book is filled with that understanding. However, there are some bits that are not appropriate for younger readers, and the loss of her father could be triggering for others who are dealing with grief, so I would be careful about recommending this book to just anyone.

An early copy of the audio book was provided by Dreamscape Media through NetGalley, with many thanks.
