This was such a fun read—a really special take on a witch story. Belle is on the brink of losing all her powers unless she can prove herself worthy. Although the beginning felt a bit slow, the ending was absolutely worth it.

‘we are way past rational and straight into delusional levels of blind revenge.’
This was a very satisfying read. A bit slow in the beginning to be truthful but the payoff in the end was well worth it! Her own doubts are very relatable and for all of the answers she’s been looking for were right in front of her all along: family and friends. I only wish Christopher had gotten a little magical comeuppance over a broken nose...

Rewitched is bursting with those cozy fall vibes.
I adore a great fall witchy romance. I really enjoyed the cozy fall vibes this book was giving off. It made me want to curl underneath a blanket and spend the afternoon reading. Lucy's witchy world was interesting, and I loved exploring this magical world with Bella. Lucy did a great job at putting her own unique spin on contemporary witchy romances.
The story starts slow, which I didn't mind. As a bookworm who loves fantasy novels, I completely understand that there is a certain amount of passing of essential information to readers with a connection to world-building and how the whole magical system works in a book. Did I wish that maybe more conversations or movement had occurred during the first bit of the book? Yes, but I understand it's hard to balance moving the story forward and giving your readers the information they need to understand what is happening. The second half of this book moves much faster, and the last bit will put you on the edge of your seat. Lucy also sets readers up for future books, which I will definitely read.
One of the things that I had a hard time connecting with was Bella. There was part of me who loved her character. She is relatable and feels real. You cannot help but like her, and I found myself rooting for her in the book's second half. But I didn't instantly like her character; I struggled with her unwillingness to take over as the owner of Lunar Books. Her reasoning for not wanting to be the owner didn't make sense in my mind, and the fact that she was willing to let her boss's son ruin this bookshop that clearly means so much to Bella drove me up the wall. Part of me understands that part of her character growth is finding confidence in herself and her abilities, but it was so obvious that she was more than capable of running the store that her not believing that she could just didn't make sense.
This witchy story is definitely light on the romance side. I like Rune right from the moment he graced us with his presence. I really wish there were more Rune in this story and more moments between Rune and Bella. Now, if this book is meant to be a part of a series, then that could explain why the romantic relationship between Rune and Bella hadn't progressed as much as I wished it would have. Lol, maybe I just need to be a bit more patient. As they say, good things come to those who wait.
Rewitched is a great fall witchy read, and I am excited to see what direction Lucy will take this series in next.

🧙 Book Review 🧙
Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood

This book wasn’t what I was expecting. First of all, it took way too long to get into. 55% of the way through, and I wasn’t hooked yet. Secondly, this was the book equivalent of a Disney Channel Original movie. It was sickly sweet, a little cheesy, and was all about friendship and discovering your true self. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s not my cup of tea. It was fine, but I needed more of everything, especially romance.

Thank you to Ace Books, Berkley, NetGalley, and Lucy Jane Wood for the ARC. I received an advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I love anything witch.
Belle loves Luna Bookstore, love the name by the way, but she’s lost her magic.
I loved the interaction between the characters and all things magic.
This is a great choice for the forthcoming haunting season.

3.5⭐ This was a great witchy debut! It was heartwarming, cozy, entertaining , and gave me all the fall vibes! Belle is a witch that hasn't seen her magic in awhile. She's working at a bookstore and her boss is a miserable toxic mess. She is summoned by her coven on her 30th birthday to see if she is still worthy of magic. I would say that this is a slow burn, but the mystery held my interest. I love the found family trope in this one, but the romance part wasn't my favorite. I didn't really feel the connection too much. But overall, it's a charming fantasy that'll put you in the mood for fall!
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

"In this spellbinding warm and cozy debut novel, a burned-out witch will need to turn to her friends and trust in herself to find the magic in her own life again.
Belladonna Blackthorn hasn't lost her magical spark, precisely...but she hasn't seen it in a while either.
With her witchcraft under wraps and a toxic boss making her days miserable, Belle is struggling to keep her beloved Lunar Books afloat and just make it through the day. The last thing she has time for is perfecting her magic.
So when her thirtieth birthday brings a summons from her coven and a trial that tests her worthiness as a witch, Belle fears the worst. With only the month of October left to prove herself or risk losing her magic forever, Belle will need all the help she can get - from the women in her life, from an unlikely mentor figure and even from an infuriating coven watchman who's sworn to protect her..."
I swear, if I could move into the cover of a book it would be this one.

I've been bewitched by Rewitched!
To Belladonna's surprise, she's been summoned to the coven's headquarters to determine her eligibility to keep her magic. She has allowed her special abilities to take a backburner to life: her job, relationships, etc. Bella has until Halloween to successfully pass multiple trials in order to retain her magic through endarkenment.
Starting this book out made for a sort of cozy quiet reading experience initially. But then the magic magicked and I fell in love with everyone and everything in it. There's a down-on-herself bookish heroine, found (and refound) family, an awkward and humble but hunky protector warlock, and a supporting cast full of characters - emphasis on characters. Lucy's prose made for a heart-warming moving experience. It's a perfectly gorgeous autumnal read and I am eager for more!
Thank you to Berkley for the advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.

Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood is a great coming of age (30th birthday) story. This is the perfect read for the fall season as it has such cozy vibes. Also, be warned it says a romance but this is such a slow burn do not look for the romance often. Over all, I loved the premise of this story with Belle who is a witch and can lose her powers come her 30th birthday. Her mother Bonnie is also a witch. Belle can keep her powers by accomplishing tasks while others try to take these powers. It was such a fun read and I really enjoyed it!

Excuse me, but this book was too freaking cute for no reason! And I literally need more, please, and thank you!
If you are wondering why, let me tell you why and all of the reasons why you need to read this book as soon as possible. Literally, I need you to drop what you are reading and start reading this book now!
First, this book is too freaking cozy. It's literally made for the fall season. Second, we all love reading about witches during the fall/spooky season. Don't lie? Third, I just love an underdog trying their best to fit into their community. We all root for the underdog. They literally have the passion and courage to prove themselves. Fourth, the chemistry between the main character and the love interest is off the charts. Even though they didn't particularly like each other in the beginning, their chemistry was just there from the beginning. There was no way that they wouldn't be together. Even their banter was too funny. Lastly, I didn't want this book to end. I kept on reading and reading, and suddenly I was at the last chapter. I just want more and more. Literally, I need another book if the author can.

Bella, Arti, Bonnie & Rune, I could be friends with all of them. Charming story full,(mostly), of lovely people that I would be happy to know. Encouraging reminder not to hide your light. I will enjoy handselling this one. Perfect fall (or anytime, really) read!

REWITCHED is a fun read with a bookstore, coven, and secrets.
I enjoyed Belle—she's never committed to buying the bookstore she works in, and now, she's upset with her new supervisor, the owner's son. Belle just doesn't feel confident in herself. Such a relatable trait. Her journey through the book is excellent, and I rooted for her from the beginning.
The surprises in this book were well-played. I didn't know how everything would fit together, and I love a good twist. Other readers will also like to uncover the surprises.
Belle's found family and actual family are warm and wonderful. There are also familiars, both a dog and cat! They are on the periphery, but I still enjoyed them.
I love bits of jewelry in books. That might be weird, but it gets bonus points from me because it just seems like pendants, rings, and other baubles we choose to wear should be included as much as the rest of clothing. The only real negative for me was the sprinkling of profanity—and if it hadn't slid into f-bombs, I would have given this all the stars.
Do I recommend it? Absolutely!
This book has a solid ending while keeping enough open for more in this world. I'm looking forward to reading more about Belle.
Happy reading!

This book is the perfect cozy fantasy to pick up this time of year. It will have you eagerly anticipating the crisp, cool days of fall when you can curl up in a blanket and read. There were times when I got a bit annoyed with the main character, but overall I found this to be an enjoyable read. I’ll be keeping an eye out for future books written by Lucy Jane Wood.

So ... I just didn't like it. I really liked the magic and world building and adding in the bookstore was a bit of extra fun. On paper there is so much to like about the main character, Belle, but for me I found her to be so frustrating with her lack of backbone. I actively hated her for most of the novel and while I am all for unlikable characters, I am pretty sure I wasn't supposed to dislike her so I unfortunately didn't connect or feel a lot of sympathy for the troubles that she was in (and very much got herself into in my opinion).
I am sure that there are many people who will like this, and it seems like a well written book... for someone else, but for me its a pass.

Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood is a captivating debut novel that exudes warmth and coziness. The story follows a burned-out witch who must rely on her friends and inner strength to reignite the magic in her life. I was thoroughly enchanted by this charming and heartwarming tale of self-discovery and finding one's spark.

While "Rewitched" is not my favorite read of the year , it is a very solid book and I'm excited to see what others think of it.
The story takes a bit of time to really get going, but it's interesting once it does. For me there seems to be a disconnect with the writing style - it is written well, but doesn't seem to flow easily. I didn't love the main character, but I enjoyed the journey she went on.
This is a good, cozy fall read.
Rated 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC ebook.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Berkley for my advanced copy!
Rewitched is a super cozy, magical read that follows Belle, a witch who's trying to keep her life together. Between working at her favorite bookstore, Lunar Books, and hiding her magic from everyone around her, she’s burnt out. Then, right when she hits her 30th birthday, she gets called by her coven for a trial that could take away her magic for good. With just one month to set things right—and some dark forces working against her—Belle has her work cut out for her.
The book is perfect for Halloween, with its charming, witchy vibes and the cozy setting of a little independent bookstore. I loved the friendships between Belle and the women in her life, and the magic system was really interesting and fun to explore.
That said, the pacing was a bit off. It takes a while for the story to really get going, which made it hard to fully dive in at first. Belle’s character doesn’t go through a ton of growth—she's relatable with her self-doubt, but I wished she’d embraced her strengths more. The romance was cute but felt rushed and didn’t get as much attention as I’d hoped.
Overall, I still enjoyed Rewitched. It’s got that cozy, magical feel that’s great for a light, fun read. If you’re in the mood for something chill with a touch of magic, definitely give this one a try—especially during spooky season!

Belladonna Blackthorn is a witch who has used her magic primarily to benefit herself in small ways, so when she finds out that she has to undergo testing to see if she is using her magic to her fullest potential, she is understandably worried. When she finds out she could have her magic taken from her forever if she has not mastered it, she goes from worried to panicked. She is given one month to perfect her magic so she can pass the test, and she will have to devote herself to this endeavor, but not without a little help from her mother, an unlikely mentor with a worrying history, and a very annoying male witch who has been tasked with watching and protecting her. You'd think that would be enough to keep her busy, but throw in her job, a toxic boss, keeping her friends from finding out that she is a witch, and an unknown force trying to keep her from passing her test, and she's in for one heck of a month.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery with a witchy bent very much. The characters were likable and easy to connect with, and the story itself was very interesting. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
5/5 stars.
*** I would like to thank NetGalley, Ace Publishing, and Lucy Jane Wood for the opportunity to read and review Rewitched.

Something we all need nowadays are cozy books and this fits that bill. I normally love all things witchy and book related but this particular book didn’t click with me. I’m very much a mood reader so this will be one that I’ll return to when the time is right. As for now, there are so many witchy, magical books coming out during the ramp up to spooky season, I must move onto the next. I definitely have friends who would love this book and I will be recommending it and gifting it to those folks.
