ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!?!?
Plot: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Character development: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Emotional damage: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I have no words. Actually, no. I have SO many words. This series needs to be talked about more. It is so underrated. (Not me thinking about making a booktok so I can pump this series up to the world 👀)

The plot in this second book was so beautifully heavy. We still got our spice, but the plot was definitely the driver here. The transfermation ALL these characters go through is so impactful. And the mic drop plot twists that had me literally screaming at the pages!?! TOP 👏 TIER 👏.

Veyka and Araan's journey throught this book is just so raw and heart twisting. It's so impactful seeing both POVs and seeing them each develop and make eachother stronger. I love for the healthy supportive relationship they nurture. When two broken people agree to heal together and grow together, it is so empowering!

However, we ALSO get Gwen and Parys' perspective. Since the groups all split up most of this book, it was really nice to get a glimpse into what was happening back in the kingdom and to see their friendship bloom.

Now without giving up any spoilers.... Prepare for the ✨ emotional damage✨ because this book sucker punched me right in the feels during the whole second half. I was not prepared. And the ending... How could you do me like that!? 😮‍💨. I was a mess..and I am not normally an emotional reader, but sheesh!

Anyways. Absolutely loved!

Thank you to Netgalley and Emberly Ash for letting me read the arc for free.

Throne of Air and Darkness is the second book in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series.

Veyka, who vanished with a sudden burst of power, finds herself in another realm. Meanwhile, Arran, who has just discovered that Veyka is his mate, goes feral when she suddenly disappears. How does Veyka, who's been powerless her whole life, suddenly have power? And what does it mean for them that there hasn't been a mated pair in thousands of years?

The dedications Emberly writes are always fire. I was curious to see what Veyka would do after the first book ended the way it did. I loved the part where Veyka asserted control over her court during the feast. Their journey through the human realm was too slow-paced for my taste. Merlin felt like just another Ianthe. And just why did Parys have to die!!??? I always knew that piece of shit Percival was up to no good!!! Please tell me Lyrena is alive!!! I don't think I can handle another death!!! I can't wait to see how all this ends!!!

I really enjoy the story line in this series. I have noticed a bit of spelling mistakes that should have been picked up. But all in all it was a great story and I can’t wait to find out what happens next in this series

Once again another outstanding book by Emberly Ash. This being the second book in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown Series comes as no surprise that it is a fantastic book. It took everything in me to put it down and work on packing up my house for a move. On every break I took I picked it up again and read a few more chapters.

In this book we are traversing the human realm, meeting new characters and old characters of both friend and foe. This story ends on the biggest cliff hanger of all which if I had a physical copy I would have thrown at the wall in frustration and rage.

I highly recommend this book if you liked Queen of Roses or anything that is a retelling of King Arthur. The Secrets of the Faerie Crown Series is a unique retelling of the story and has so many nuances.

Thank you NetGalley and Emberly Ash for the E-ARC in exchange for an honest review of my own opinions.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get better, it’s blows my expectations out of the water!! Epic quests, epic love story, epic heartbreaks, epic betrayals especially from unexpected quarters, epic revelations! This book has it all. This book is spectacular from the characters development, to storyline, to the scenes unfolding on the pages. It captivates my mind, my emotions and leaves wanting more, more, more!

What an emotional, heartbreaking, mending, and break again read this was! Thank you so much for letting me read it.
My heart was broken so many times while reading this, I cried, laughed, and smiled throughout this book. Arran is obviously the star of the show... Parys- You and I need to have a conversation for chapter 81!

I loved this book, and think it was even better than the first... if this is how the writing is continuing I cannot wait for the next in the series!

Emberly Ash continues her dark retelling of the Arthurian legend in Throne of Air and Darkness. This book is full of lies, deception, and digging for truth through layers of artifice. The readers will go on a roller-coaster of emotions with the characters, embracing the good, hurting with the painful, and trying to make sense of the bad. W b at started off as two people disliking each other, is now two people who love each other, and one willing to do anything to protect to sure the woman he loves is safe and content, if not happy. Throne of Air and Darkness is truly a work of art!

4.5 ⭐️

Throne of Air and Darkness was an even better read for me than the first book, Crown of Earth and Sky! I’ve really enjoyed seeing Veyka and Arran grow in their relationship as well as Veyka’s relationship with her other friends. Her healing journey is very well written. This series does tackle some pretty dark topics, but I feel it’s pretty well done. I also really liked getting POV chapters from both Arran and Parys.

There was lots of spice in this book, and I liked most of it. I did get a little weirded out by a certain scene, but it’s kind of a personal preference. I’m sure plenty of others liked it! Arran and Veyka’s banter was great as always, and I found I really loved the developing friendship between Gwen and Parys.

After that ending, I’m really looking forward to starting book three: Court of Vines and Vipers. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Emberly Ash for the ARC of Throne of Air and Darkness. All opinions are of course my own.

I do have one spoilery thing to say so I want to go ahead and give people time to scroll away if they don’t want to be spoiled…so…

SPOILER WARNING

Okay at this point if you’re still here and don’t want to be spoiled, it’s on you for continuing to read…

That should be enough warning…

Emberly Ash, HOW DARE YOU? PARYS? The casual way with which you ripped my heart from my chest in the beginning of chapter 81…I’m sending you my therapy bills. 😭

I didn't finish this book I got 60% through before stopping, I don't think I'm the target audience.

I loved the first book, it definitely had a plot that I enjoyed, lots of storyline, twists, and a bit of spice.

The second book, I started to question if it was for me when Veyka has a great time Arran in his beast form. I did read on from there but it was just spice after spice with a storyline that was just overshadowed by so much spice. I was also quite supprised that beastiality wasn't included in the content warnings.

Thanks for the opportunity to read this book, but it was too spicy for me.

✨Throne of Air and Darkness✨

“I will tear apart this world, realm after realm, until I find you”

Rating:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thoughts💭
The second book in this series and it did not disappoint. Each chapter leaves you racing to the next. There is adventure through realms and love that continues to blossom.

So much betrayal so be carful what characters you get attached to! Nearly ever chapter had a new surprise. Aaron and Veyka’s is getting spicier by the minute.

You’re going to want to pick up book 3 instantly!

Thank you to Emberly Ash and NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for my honest opinion💛

In Throne of Air and Darkness we have an exciting and dangerous adventure through different realms in search of Avalon. It gives us a lot of answers to questions from the first book, but somehow still leaves us with more questions at the end of the book.

There's just as much, if not more, betrayal and scheming as in the first book. The human realm gets a lot more focus this time, with less attention on the fae realm. Which was some super fun world building.

But we also get some sweet, tender, and SPOICY moments between Veyka and Arran. It’s so wonderful to see their growth both as individuals and as a couple to see them figure out how to love each other while working through their traumas and struggles.

Just like the first book though my only note is the pacing. The points that feel less important drag on, while some of the more interesting events seem to just be glossed over and rushed.

While I thought this book was a lot more balanced in terms of smut/spice to plot ratio it was still a bit too much for me, and there were still too many references to the mmc cock or the fmc breasts.

While I enjoyed the plot and the characters I just maybe think this series isn't for me and I personally wont be continuing but if you are a lover of romantasy and high spice definitely give this one a read.

Throne of Air and Darkness by Emberly Ash is book 2 in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series.
This is such an amazing book! I love the writing and the storytelling.
This intriguing dark fantasy romance had me hooked from get go.
There plot and impressive world-building was amazingly done. Holding my interest till the very end.
This series has been so good and it’s been such an honor to get the chance to read and review them.

Thank You NetGalley and Cara Maxwell Romance for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

Thank you for the opportunity to read Throne of Air and Darkness by Emberly Ash.
This is the 2nd book in the series, a continuation of the similar Camelot retelling with a Female Main Character.
This was a bit on the slower side, though the spice was there, all over the place.

This is book two of The Secret of the Faerie Crown. It starts right up where we left off in the last book. Just like book 1, I didn’t want to put this one down. It kept me engaged the whole time. As the book developed I continued to get sucked in. We learn in this book that Veyka does have powers and she was hiding them the whole time. The magic she holds though hasn’t been seen in thousands of years. This is what leads them on a journey to figure out answers to a prophecy. Veyka is still one of my top favorite characters in this series. She continued to win my heart more as I read!

Thank you, NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this book and give my honest opinion! Thank you, Emberly Ash, for writing a well-written book. It kept me engaged the whole time and I continued to want more!!!

Veyka Pendragon is in for another wild time!  The second book in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown is fast-paced with lots of action and drama.  There's a lot going on:

Veyka isn't dead, but she's changed — a lot — in more ways than she can know.  Once again, she proves to be annoyingly stubborn at heeding advice, only realizing her mistake when she accidentally hurts one of her friends.

Arran and Veyka discover their relationship reaches new heights after the Joining of their blood (at the end of Crown of Earth and Sky.)  Veyka, ever the control freak, fears this new change that she never asked for, and struggles to determine what she really wants from him.

Of course, the challenges to Veyka's throne continue, especially with her mother, the Dowager, working hard to undermine her at every turn.

New information is revealed about Arthur Pendragon and the secrets he kept, and Veyka and her crew race to find the mystical Avalon that may hold the answers they seek.  There's a lot of cool shit revealed, and even more questions that surface, as the book closes out with a heartstopping cliffhanger.

New Characters 👀

Believe me when I say there were many annoying characters introduced in this book.  Veyka and Arran had a lot thrown at them at every turn and corner of their journey.  Maisri, and later Isolde, made things much more bearable for me.

Here are a few of the new characters on the journey:
- Percival, the weak human with a hidden agenda
- Maisri, the small fae girl who joins Veyka and Arran's party
- Isolde, sweet faerie with the gift of healing
- Gorlois, who I'd gladly see dead a million times over
- Morgyn le Fae, the woman who just can't be bothered

Read this book if you like:
- Strong friendships
- Sweet (and not-so-sweet) friends
- Special magical abilities
- More betrayal 💀
- Fae and faeries and humans
- Mates

- You cannot tell me my beloved Parys is DEAD 😭  I had such high hopes for him and Gwen
- Fuck the Dowager (say it with me, fuck the Dowager . . .)

This is the second book in the series and I found myself even more invested in the journey than the first one! It’s got action, adventure, suspense and steamy romance which made for an enjoyable read

I liked the book but didn’t enjoy it as much as the first one. I felt like it dragged on in parts. I am also a bit confused as Arran and Veyka’s chapters were in first person and used “I” but Parys’ chapters were in third person

I knew the potential I saw in book 1 was there, and this book proves how good this series is gonna be! I love the development of the characters, the romantic storyline, but also the prophecy and the entire magical storyline! I love that even thought this book has a ton of fantasy tropes I’ve seen before, it’s keeping me on my toes and surprising me with other twists!

Veyka’s character is my favorite hands down, I love her she is so strong, but also makes mistakes and takes on too much guilt, but she’s an imperfect heroine which is why I love her.

Adding in more perspectives from the other characters was a great addition to see what’s happening at the castle back home, and I can’t wait to see how the storylines all converge!

Fast paced, action packed, spicy, with another cliffhanger ending. One thing I really love about this series is although there is lots of spice throughout, the plot is never lost. There's always something new happening! On to book 3. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
