Lots of spice! Enjoyed reading this book by Donna and can’t wait to see how the other two members of Maven Inc find their HEA
This digital ARC was obtainable via NetGalley for an honest review.
"No Romeo" is a sexy story about a runaway bride. I enjoyed the beginning as I found it hilarious. I didn't really care for the plot, but I continued for the vibes. Oliver and Eve had great chemistry.
Wow, it’s been awhile since I read a book with quite this much spice (not complaining)!
So, spice: 4/5
Story: 4/5
I loved these characters. Evelyn is such a “take no crap” person; I adore her. Her friends are also great. Oliver is such a dichotomous man: sweet and yet ruthless. It was so interesting watching the two of them learn from each other and grow together.

This was such a fun read! Billionaire romance isn’t my go to favourite trope but I absolutely love a runaway bride and I’m really glad I got the opportunity to read for a review. The meet cute was hilarious and though they often annoyed the hell out of me, I adored the dynamic between Eve and Oliver. He’s super arrogant and uptight (he’s a billionaire duhh) and a tad morally gray, so the feisty and often reluctant Eve was a perfect match for his undoing. There was some great bickering in this book and I really liked how funny the side characters were. Especially Fin and Yara.
This book was a great bit of spicy escapism. I’ve never read Donna’s books before but I’ll definitely be diving into some more after this.
Unlike any other Donna Alam's books, this bored me to death. I couldn't finish it, gone for about half a book. Normally I love her books, maybe i will come back to this at later date but definitely not right now.
No Romeo
After receiving copies of her husband to be sex texts to her maid of honour Evie waits until the actual ceremony to read them out loud to all the guests. She then flees the scene jumping into a chauffeur driven car in her full wedding regalia and meets Oliver Deubel, filthy rich, outrageously handsome and very powerful.
It’s turns out that Evie’s now ex is Oliver’s worst enemy so if Evie helps Oliver to get the upper hand in a business deal he will provide her with accommodation in his home and help her obtain her visa and stay in the UK rather than having to return to The USA.
The sparks fly, Evie is no pushover and the relationship develops with some very humorous moments and very ‘got’ scenes. An enjoyable if not predictable read.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.
This book is great!! The storyline and characters are well developed and interesting. I became so engrossed in the book that I finished it in one evening!
I must admit, it did take me a while to get into this book - despite the fact I liked Evie from the very start of the book. Evie is funny, stubborn, witty, strong and fierce. She's kind and outspoken, she cares deeply and is such a good female main character to root for. She was my favourite part of the book. Once I did get into the book, and the story of Evie and Oliver, I couldn't stop. I was rooting for them and their happy ending. Oliver is such a fun male main character - morally grey and don't we just love that? He cares just as deeply as Evie, despite not showing it in the same way. The story was interesting and fun and the characters were interesting as well - Oliver and his two friends, Fin and Matt, had a fun dynamic. I wish we could have seen more of Riley and Lucy but the characters you get to know along the way are certainly enough to keep you entertained throughout - see Nora and Yara. I would definitely recommend the book!
Oh my god, No Romeo surpassed my expectations with its fun and flirty spirit, its deft and nuanced handling of the tropes and its low level of angst and longing throughout. I would highly be recommending this book.
< FIVE STARS > – WOULD READ AGAIN. Honestly this one tickled me, and no it wasn’t my own little Bo who also has unsavoury pastimes. As always Donna Alam creates characters that you adore, they may have their own brand of crazy, but that just makes them that much more adorable and relatable. I can’t wait to see what the Little Birdy will tell us next; will Fin get his chance at the spotlight where it seems he enjoys himself, or will it be Matt, the strong quiet one. Eve has such a warm heart; you know that she would be the perfect vet. Oliver maybe the perfect balance for her, you know that he will keep that heart warm and not overdone. I have certainly changed my ultimate dinner party guest now, as it would be Mandy, what a character they are. Theres just that sparkle there that you can’t ignore.
You will absolutely fall in love with this story. Eve has been through enough and her wedding day is no exception. She is determined to finally live the life she wants and she isn’t going to take lies from nobody. On her running spree she literally falls into Oliver’s lap. Oliver can’t believe his good fortune and shock about the beautiful creature that has taken over his lap. Oliver is a ruthless businessman ho can’t pass up this amazing opportunity that includes Eve. Will things go as planned or will there be some curves up ahead? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Runaway bride, high powered business rivals, deals within deals and a rollercoaster of high powered romance, that bounces back and forth as each fight the inevitable. A fun, and often spicy, read with a plot that will keep you reading.
♡ ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 (rounded up to 4) ♡
🌶️ 2/5
I haven’t read anything from Donna Alam before, but I really enjoyed No Romeo.
It was such a fun read.
No Romeo has a smart and strong FMC and a stubborn and handsome MMC – and I LOVE them both. I was invested as soon as I met Evie, and I had a crush on Oliver as soon as that door opened 🤭🫣
I LOVE Evie. She is feisty and strong and believes in herself. And Oliver, in all his gruff arrogance, was just as great. He wanted us to think he was unlovable, but he was really just a soft marshmallow at the centre of it all 😍 They were absolutely perfect together from start to end. They bantered and laughed and teased; their chemistry was undeniable.
There were moments that hit me in the heart and others where I was laughing out loud or giggling to myself.
As much as I loved Evie and Oliver, I loved their friends too. Nora was such a great addition, and I hope we get to learn more about Yara, Matt and Fin in the upcoming stories 💖
This was such a fun read. I’d recommend it to anyone who loves billionaires and strong female characters!

Big thank you to NetGalley, Donna Alam and Montlake for the chance to read this book.
Spicy romance with both a strong female lead and a handsome male lead. Side characters that you want to know more about!
Thank you for the arc.
No Romeo represents Donna Alam at her very best. It is replete with humour, sexiness and her lovely style of writing. I found myself laughing out loud on more than one occasion and invested in the story and characters within the first couple of chapters.
The MFC, Eve, is one of my favourite Donna Alam characters to date. Eve is not a damsel in distress. She’s feisty, funny and takes full ownership of her life and decisions. She’s a MFC to be admired on all levels. That is not to say that Oliver, the MMC, is any less appealing. He is a wonderful mix of arrogance and charm. You will root for this couple from the get go. The banter between Eve and Oliver is off the charts and take no prisoners. The chemistry between them is explosive and the book balances the arc of the storyline with spice perfectly.
The side characters are built into this book in a wonderful way that supports the plot but makes you want to know their stories too. I am assuming (I hope not incorrectly) that Oliver’s business partners/friends Matt and Fin will have follow-up stories in this series, but I would also like to see what happens with Nara and future cameos by Nora would be a delight.
After months of ‘meh’ reads and a myriad of DNFs, it was wonderful to be sucked into this book hook, line and sinker. I raced through it because I was enjoying it so much but conversely, never wanted it to end. Kudos to Donna Alam for writing such a wonderful romance.
