I enjoyed this book. I always love brother's best friend stories and I enjoyed the way Sharon used this trope. The roadtrip trope was also a fun addition to the book. So many good moments in this book.

This book was super cute and an easy, quick read! The characters all had depth which was a nice change from other popular romance books, and the main protagonist was a little nerdy and ditsy, but not annoying in anyway. Theo Goodnight- locate this man in real life please! Overall, this book was well written & very enjoyable! I wish we would've seen more of their relationship instead of just mainly the trip, but hoping for a short story with more details on them in the future!

Technically a 3.5 read. This was my first read from the author.

This was a semi-quick read for me but given that I do like a good brother's best friend trope, I couldn't help but get sucked in. I liked the banter that was created between the two MCs. There was so much flirting, sometimes outright and sometimes between the lines. I like that they were very blunt about their feelings once it hit a certain point. I wish I liked the FMC more, sometimes she was little painfully oblivious about things he would say (like GIRL, open your eyes) and I found the MMC to be pretty passive about making his move. Someone needed to push them together a long time ago.

I could have used more backstory about what happened after the "incident" and how they continued a friendship after that. But reading the epilogue in his POV was so cute!

I really enjoyed it, I found myself completely immersed in this rom-com wich I wasn't expecting.

It's a quite cliche story as we follow Ali, who has been in love with her brother's best friend, Theo, forever. She finally gets a chance with him when he has to take her to his brother's wedding. This starts a friends to lovers dynamic that was delightful to read.

Although it is a simple and premise, the story surprised me by how fun and entertaining it was.
I loved the main couple and actually giggled at their interactions. I wouldn't say the characters alone are super strong, but together they were perfect and had great chemistry.

I highly recommend it if you want a comforting, feel-good story that doesn't have a lot of complications.
It's a great book to read when you're feeling a little down and need something to cheer you up.

This one was really cute book by Sharon M. Peterson. Easy, fun & clean. I thought the FMC was relatable & easy to love, & the MMC was perfect (!!!!) to cheer for & connect with. Their dynamic was so well-developed & created a fun banter/dialogue, making me speed through the book wanting to know the outcome.

I did wish that there was even more about the FMC's epilepsy, or possibly some sort of resolution that took place. I wanted to hear Theo tell her that she was more than her diagnosis. I did love knowing that the author's son has experienced seizures though, making this something personal that she wrote about. That made me love the novel even more.

I would describe it as the perfect read for a road trip this summer. Overall, super cute! I will definitely pick up another title by this author because of this book.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

The Fast Lane, by Sharon M Peterson, is a novel that will have you smiling and even laughing out loud at times. The characters are a fun bunch, mostly family members of a family we'd all like to be part of. In the story, we embark on a journey to find forgiveness and love. I think we all need a Theo in our lives!
Thanks, NetGalley and the publisher, for providing me with the ARC ebook I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

To describe this book in one line:
"Sunshine in book form". That's what I'd like to say.

I loved every single character, especially Ali ,Theo, Abe, Mack and Hallie.

What happens when you go on a road trip with your childhood crush with whom you've been half in love for half hour life. Add in a meddling grand pa, a side quest to bring back your brother who left home 11 years ago and all the secrets everyone kept for years.
Yup you have an amazing trip and a great story you can share with your grandkids oneday🤭🤫

Tropes:
Friends to lovers
Childhood love🥹
Brother's bestfriend
Small town🥳
Sassy FMC
Dreamy MMC😍

This is my first book of Sharon M Peterson and I have to say I've become a huge fan of her writing from the beginning and will definitely read Mae's story

Also hoping for Abe's book🤞🏻

This was so cute and such a fun story. This is the epitome of a brother’s-best-friend / road trip romance. The characters are super lovable, the story draws you in right away, and you can’t help but immediately cheer them on.

There’s also a lot of found family, making this book such an uplifting and lighthearted read.

I read this as a standalone without reading The Fake Out, and was able to follow the story fine. There’s minimal crossover in this book.

✨Book Review✨

The Fast Lane - Sharon M. Peterson

📖 Ali and her family are taking a road trip to get her oldest brother married. Unfortunately her Mom has gone overboard on the decor that needs to be traveled, and Ali will need to hitch a ride with Theo. Theo, who she once confessed her love for when they were young. Theo, her brothers’ best friend. Theo, who she shouldn't still be in love with… should she?

📚 This romance was an easy read. Ali was a likable character who had some great character components that make her enjoyable to read about. Theo was charming and sweet, which made him a great main male character. Sharon M Peterson made this road trip feel eventful and too short! I loved the extra details involved, like a stopover in Las Vegas, Grandpa Mack, and and wayward brother who needed to be brought back to the family.

🌟 If you like Sarah Adams or Emilly Henry then you should give The Fast Lane a chance. This is a great book for any closed door readers out there!

This was my first book from Sharon M Peterson - and it was an Advanced Reader Copy! Thank you to Sharon and @netgalley for putting The Fast Lane in my hands early. You can look for it to be published this June 19th! …has anyone else read something by Sharon?

The Fast Lane: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is so incredible , it is fast paced and I read it within two days, I love that the chapters are shorter because it meant I could take my time reading the book, however I found that with The Fast Lane this wasn’t necessary because I was so hooked that I was up until 1am reading.

I absolutely adore Ali and Theo and their whole dynamic which is shown through the tropes of the book such as grumpy x sunshine and forced proximity so if you love these tropes then The Fast Lane is definitely for you. The plot is amazing especially when Ali looks back on her memories when she was younger with Theo and her brothers and the part with the reading in the car, it had me swooning. I love that Ali has a secret niece, I feel like she tidies up the plot and makes the reunion a lot smoother.

The only complaint I have with this book is that it feels like there are too many characters, I love the plot and how everyone is connected in some way but I feel like it was very confusing at times. Even upon completing the book I don’t know all of Ali’s brothers because it was a lot to take in but this would not stop me from reading this book again hence the ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my first book by Sharon Peterson, but I'm already planning on buying her previous two novels. Something about her writing style just clicked with me, and I loved Ali and Theo so much.
At times I was a little jarred because the pranks were a little annoying - but that's just my personal feelings and the author can't help that! It was heartwarming and sweet and I was giggling and kicking my feet whenever the pair were with each other.

I should have known my mom would go totally overboard packing for my brother’s big day. But much like my last break-up, I’d been optimistic (in denial) that it would all work out for me. Now, I can’t fit into the car. “Don’t worry,” my brother says, “I asked Theo to give you a ride.” I flush all over and almost drop my phone. This is a BIG problem. With his neatly trimmed stubble, fierce protectiveness and an affinity for plaid shirts rivaled only by his love of hiking, I’ve always had a crush on Theo. As a teenager, I’d even declared my feelings in a tragically bad poem. The rejection almost ended our friendship, and I’ll be taking that crippling embarrassment to my grave.

He’s the last person I want to be alone with on a six-day road trip; especially since I swore off men after my last relationship went up in flames. It would be a terrible idea anyway; he only sees me as his best friend’s little sister. But as we fight over the playlist and are forced to share a night together when his car dies, it’s not distance that makes my heart grow fonder, it’s close proximity. Two thousand miles of flirting has my heart racing in the fast lane.

This book was hilarious and had me in stitches. 🤣🤣 Ali and Theo are perfectly adorable, their chemistry was so much fun. I love the forced proximity trope, and this one was done so well! Absolutely loved this!

Sharon Peterson did it again. I enjoyed The Fake Out and The Fast Lane did not disappoint. Ali was hilarious! And Mack, I think he was my favorite character and he was just a side character. Theo was a perfect book boyfriend kind of guy. On a road trip across the country for a wedding, Ali and Theo combust. Ali has had a crush on Theo for ever. He is like a family member and her brothers best friend. Along the way they encounter many hilarious situations. Annoying and over bearing family members, a broken car, a nudist camp, am awesome grandpa Mack and his dog Karen, and reuniting with a brother who left 11 years ago. Does Theo feel the same way as Ali? Everyone thinks they belong together and will eventually marry! This story had me laughing and even sometimes crying. You truly don't want to miss out!

Sharon M. Peterson is the queen of closed door, but still sexy romance!

Ali has been on her self-imposed Love Sabbatical for about a year, ever since her ex dumped her. But her brother’s best friend Theo has been around more recently, and she was so in love with him as a teenager. And maybe she still is. So when it’s time for Ali and Theo to road trip across the country to her brother’s wedding, she vowed to keep her crush under wraps, but Theo’s making it pretty tough.

Ali is all I want in a heroine, she’s feisty and smart, but also has immense vulnerability, and Theo is a great foil to her. He’s steady and sweet. Their connection is so apparent immediately that it feels unbelievable that they don’t recognize how the other is feeling.

The Fast Lane is my second trip through Two Harts, Texas and I loved it just as much as the first time! This go around Ali is the FMC and if you read The Fake Out you will remember Ali is a fan of getting even in extremely creative ways. I am excited to announce this is a road trip romance, which is one of my all time favorites because you never can guess what they will run into (*cough* nudist resort *cough*). And it is also a brothers’ best friend romance, so get ready to listen to Ali gush about her longtime crush Theo from the very start. Not that you can blame her because he definitely treats her well. I highly recommend you check out The Fast Lane which comes out June 19th, and while you are waiting you can read The Fake Out and The Do-Over which are also 5 stars reads!

Thank you Sharon M. Peterson (@stone4031) and @netgalley for providing me with an eARC of this book!

Sharon M. Peterson is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me. Absolutely loved her debut novel, The Do-Over, and might love this one even more!

Childhood friends. Road trip. Big, nosy family. Great storyline with a lot of laughs, witty banter, and the occasional prank.

Also had epilepsy representation by the FMC, which I’ve never read in a romcom before.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for The Fast Lane to come out June 19, 2024!

The Fast Lane by Sharon M Peterson
"Love was complicated, even back then. Love was also stupid, nonsensical, illogical, and downright exhausting. Which is why I was on a Love Sabbatical."
Ali has been head over heels in LOVE with Theo since she was a teenager. The problem: Theo is her brother's best friend!! After a love confession gone wrong (like really wrong) she is determined to put the past in the past and be friends. Theo has never looked at her as anything but a little sister. As fate would have it she now has to travel with Theo to his brothers wedding and lets just say Ali can't trust herself to see things clearly. One wedding. One road trip. One last shot at love.

One shot at a life worth living. I loved how delightful the story was. It has all the aspects needed for a "true" love story. Ali's growth, her abilities, and worries about her future made this story come alive. A quick read as I devoured this in one day! I encourage all to pick up your own copy and join the journey.

I received an eArc from NetGalley for my honest review.

The Fast Lane had me laughing throughout. I liked Ali and Theo and I thought their chemistry and the depth of their friendship was wonderful to read.

I enjoyed the little subplots leading up to the wedding along the car drive there. It broke up what could have been a dull plot and kept it fresh and interesting.

A low angst, low steam romance that kept me laughing.
