Detective Margot Phalen returns, this time she’s dealing with a sniper. On top of trying to find their identity, her father has called and wants to tell her about his 78th kill, if she’ll visit him in prison. This one we see Margot sinking a little deeper, but also her ability to keep moving. I really liked this one, and I felt like I had more answers this time around. Thanks to Netgalley for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

One thing I love about detective books, is everything in this one, it's perfectly paced and not rushed at the end
I ignored all of my responsibilities to finish this in one sitting and now I'm sad it's over!

WOW! Another page turner!
This book kept me up reading, I didn’t want it to end, I am so enamored with this story/series! It honestly reads like a criminal minds episode/true crime podcast and I’m obsessed!
I’ve read other thrillers/crime thrillers and while I’ve enjoyed them none have kept me as involved and interested the Detective Margot Phalen series!
Kate Wiley is incredible at giving us a story that just grips you and doesn’t let go!
Margot is our Detective and the daughter of the serial killer Ed Finch. He of course keeps taunting her and the FBI with details about crimes he committed and got away with, and with the flashbacks to when Ed was committing these crimes it’s hard not to get hooked into the story!
Wes is amazing I love him and all the moments that made me snort/laugh with him! I honestly think he is the best partner/friend for Margot because he’s so easy going and a flirt!
I have so many questions about FBI Agent Andrew and what makes him tick and his motivations. . .he’s an intriguing character
I have so many questions and so much I want to know, I’m already anxiously awaiting for the next book!
I’m so grateful and thankful to have been able to get an ARC copy from NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Kate Wiley!!!

Her Father's Secret by K. Wiley, published by Storm Publishing, is the second book in the Detective Margot Phalen Series. For best reading experience I recommend to read the books in order. The previous book is The Killer's Daughter.
Detective Margot Phalen and her partner Wes's next case seems an easy one. Family homicide with the wife the victim, straight out of the book, yes? No, its never as easy as it seems. A twisty and tricky story that keeps the reader in suspense from start till the very last page.

The sun is beginning to set as Margot watches the dive team haul the girl’s body from the lake, untangling the bag that had been used to weight it down among the rocks and the reeds. But it isn’t the cool evening air that chills Margot to the bone as the bag is opened up. It is the glimpse of its contents. The old toys. Margot’s toys! Great read!! I definitely got chills with this one! This book had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, serial killers, action, a great who done it and a few crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of Her Father’s Secret by Kate Wiley due to be published June 26, 2024.
Another body has been found for Margot and her partner, Wes, to solve. Meanwhile, her serial killer father has requested another visit with her to give Margot more information about an unsolved murder. Will Margot ever be able to escape the shadow of her infamous father and live a “normal” life?
I had read the first book in the series, The Killer’s Daughter, and loved it so I was thrilled to get the second book. It was as good as the first! I love the way the author alternates between Margot growing up with her serial killer father, her sessions with her therapist, her father relating on how he committed some of his murders, and her current cases without getting confused.
Her Father’s Secret kept me interested the entire book, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

After devouring the first book to this series, The Killer's Daughter, I just knew I needed to get my hands on the next book! I was so excited to receive this ARC, having very high expectations that it would exceed its predecessor. Given the title and where we left off in the first book, I thought we'd touch more on Ed Finch, but unfortunately, we didn't. It was pretty much the same secret Ed revealed at the end of the first book- there may be another victim. We didn't really dive into Ed Finch, the Classifed Killer, or make any shocking new discoveries, which I found myself disappointed by. Much of the book was Margot solving crimes, which is to be expected with her being a detective.
Overall, this book is a good quick read, especially if you like detective mysteries with some drama. Even as a stand-alone, it's quite entertaining, and I'd definitely recommend!
Thank you NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and Kate Wiley for this ARC!
