I requested this from Netgalley back when it released in 2014 and never got around to it, so I decided to grab the audio from my library so that I could finally read and review it.

From the beginning, it's a pretty standard highlander romance where the Scottish love interested kidnaps the naive female because she's important to the highlander's enemy. Edmund is trying to save Scotland from English rule, so he kidnaps Amelia as a way to stop her father and betrothed from signing the treaty that would put Scotland under English rule. I'm not sure if it was just the voice the narrator used, but I felt like Amelia was very naive and such a damsel in distress, which I'm not really a fan of. She always needed Edmund to save her and he was going to "ruin" her because they liked each other so much. I also thought it was random that she was "bad luck" and all of these weird accidents would happen around her and that's why it's been hard to find her a husband. Of course, our hero was the magic answer to making these accidents go away. I didn't really find that aspect of her character all that necessary.

The plot itself was fine, but I do think it was dragged on a bit too much by the end. Also, I did NOT appreciate the death of a specific animal in here. I can definitely do without that in my romance because it just made me sad. Overall, the romance and the plot were just mediocre.
