I absolutely loved this one! It was fun and steamy and I couldn’t not adore Aurora. She was unashamedly bold and brave and confident in herself in a more subtlety beautiful way. I loved how she easily she propositioned Worth and how she never felt a drop of shame about sharing herself with him even when she didn’t know of he’d reject her or not.
I really liked learning more or Aurora and that though she presented herself as perfect society girl inside she wanted so much more! Aunt Lottie is an atrocious chaperone but I love her so much - she’s so sweet and I adore how she lives ger life boldly and without care for her reputation. I was so happy she got a subplot in this one and found some happiness of her own.
I also really like the Dowager Duchess of Ware. Her snarky banter with Aunt Lottie was fun but that they actually secretly liked each other, so sweet 🥹 she was proper but also just a delightful support for Aurora even when things looked to be going wrong the Dowager didn’t say a mean word.
The romance was excellent. Aurora slowly won over Worth with her determined need for him. Worth’a realisations and acceptance and healing was so perfect and I just really enjoyed every minute of their story. Their chemistry and passion and feelings were so strong it was a delight to read.
The antagonist were frustrating in a good way and I loved how it all wrapped up in the end though I would have liked a little more gravitas given to the moment. Also I did really love the cameos of the other siblings/ partners and seeing how their lives has progressed and the love they all still had. Overall super enjoyable and turned out to be one of my favourites of this series! It was everything I’ve come to expect and want from Kathleen.
If you like steamy historical romance with heartfelt characters then this one is for you!
A few tropes you’ll find…
- brothers best friend
- Friends to lovers
- She seduces him
- He teachers her
I’m not ready for the end of this series… I’ve loved it so much! Aurora is probably my favorite of the Deadly Sins, so bold, so sure of herself despite her young age. I really fell in love with her and it was highly entertaining seeing Charles trying to deny his feelings for her. I laughed quite a lot and I was also touched by Aurora and her depth of feelings. And I loved the side plot with the chaperone finding her happily ever after!
Ayers is a GREAT author and everything she writes is pure gold!
Wanton? Or simply determined?
Aurora is the fifth of the ‘Deadly Sins’. She is curious about what can happen between a man and a woman and seeks none other than her brother’s best friend and business partner, Charles Worthington, far too good-looking and a rake if ever there was one. He sees nothing better than to give her a book, the memoirs of a former courtesan, to further her education. She can then contact him if she has any questions. Of course, she has questions, quite specific ones… Will he be able to resist the temptation? And what about feelings?
I have read several books by this author previously so I was expecting a good time with this one. Of course I was not disappointed in the least. This book has it all great characters, interesting plot, plenty of spice if that’s your thing (lessons in seduction). I loved every minute and could have read in one sitting if it wasn’t for having obligations 🙄 “Worth” even inspired me to make adorable mustache bath bombs I have aptly named The Refined Rake. I plan to read this series backlist since this is the fifth book in the series. But at no point did I get confused so these can be read as standalones. I look forward to reading lots more by Kathleen Ayers. I think she is so underrated and more people should know about how amazing her books are.
Lady Aurora Sinclair is no stranger to scandalous behaviour, having lived with her siblings who have been called the Deadly Sin. However, she is now bored, having gone through two seasons without finding anyone who she is attracted to. Hence, she decides that her brother’s business partner, Mr. Charles Worthington, is the man to educate her on all questions she may have of a sexual nature. She insists on demonstrations and Worth finds himself quickly under her spell.
Both Aurora and Worth are two headstrong characters but together there is plenty of chemistry. Whilst Aurora at times seemed self-absorbed, her feelings for Worth dawn on her, such that she is not able to think of a future with anyone else. An entertaining addition to a fun series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The five deadly sins is how the Sinclair siblings have been known. They have only recently put the worst of the scandals behind them. Or is there more to come this season? Who might cause one, the only sibling still unmarried or someone else?
Our hero plays on his reputation as a Rake to protect his heart from further pain. Our heroine is a restless, inquisitive young lady who knows what she wants.
An amusing story that fits so well with the rest of the series. Each book could be read on it's own. I have read them all, in order. I find that more enjoyable. The characters are all fabulous and very easy to fall in love with.
Great fun.
I love this series! The entire family is so unconventional that I can only imagine the look on the Tons faces if they had to deal with them in real life. This story of Aurora and Worth is a slow, slow burn but you can feel the heat just sizzling off the page. A well paced story with such colorful characters. Aurora wants to know more about relationships, especially physical ones. Worth is determined not to comply but is struggling from the very beginning. He wants her but doesn't want marriage nor does he want to ruin her. The subtle sexual banter between the two is cleverly accomplished. This can be a stand alone yet there is so much more depth to it if you have read the stories about the secondary characters. Don't miss this one.
Gotta love the Sinclairs! They are a delightful bunch! They’re unconventional, uninhibited, and very passionate! This is one great series and I loved Aurora and Worth’s (Charles) story very much! Aurora is a spitfire, and in the midst of trying to choose between her two boring suitors, she solicits some instructions in kissing, among other things, from the known rake, Worth , whom she’s adored for a long time . The jaded man has no intention of falling in love or ever marrying, but resisting the passionate seductress of Aurora, may be more than he bargained for. A Kathleen Ayers book never disappoints, and always delivers a wonderful storyline with great characters, dialogue, and sizzling romance!
Aurora & Worth
She’s the youngest of the Sinclair siblings, the most romantically inclined - she wants to marry, but only for love - and rather curious about pleasure. Her brother’s business partner used to be her friend, but ever since her debut he’s become rather elusive.
He’s a second son with a knack for business, her brother’s best friend and a seasoned rake with deep emotional scars.
Bored at a garden party - and a little foxed - she gets lost in a maze and stumbles upon her one-time friend having a tryst with his mistress. Of course he spots her. Being rather inelegantly removed from a hedge, she lands on top of him and boldly kisses him senseless. Liquid courage aplenty, she promptly negotiates a salacious deal: either he tutors her, or she’ll find someone else.
He shouldn’t want to. He can’t - he’s too old and her brothers would kill him. He couldn’t - she’s an innocent, but a very tempting one, and so very persistent… could he? Just to protect her? And avoid scandal?
He tries to distract her with a book, but his plan backfires and only ends up stoking the fire… and thus, utterly incapable of resisting her, these two set off on some steaming tutoring sessions. And then gossip, scandal, a disgruntled mistress, real suitors, jealousy and demons from the past all pitch in to make their happily ever after nearly impossible.
I love this brazen lady unafraid to ask what she wants and wise enough to accept words of wisdom, and there’s just something incredibly endearing about a broken rake with a conscience. This story sizzles from start to finish, and her free-spirited chaperone’s own torrid affair makes for a sweet sideline romance.
Delightful, fresh, fast-paced, naughty and very witty, this was an excellent page-turner!
A beautiful ending to a heart-warming and scrumptious series, and one I happily recommend!
Having fallen in love with the love stories of each of the Deadly Sin siblings, I have been eagerly anticipating Aurora's story for some time... and it did not disappoint! This is a great rendition of the older brother's best friend falls for friend's little sister trope. We get the opportunity to get to know the suave Worth, who has made appearances in previous books. A ladies man and bachelor who doesn't want to touch marriage with a 10 foot pole, the tables turn on him when he can't stop thinking about Lady Aurora, the spitfire youngest sister of the Deadly Sin clan. Aurora on the other hand is a relatively innocent debutant ready to take a dive into a world of pleasure that she is confident Worth can provide. The progression of their relationship in the story is very sweet, and one of the best parts is that we also get a side storyline in which the hilarious and spicy "aunt" and chaperone, Miss Charlotte Maplehurst, finds her own happy ending. This book is the perfect cap to what has been a fantastic series!
I really enjoyed the Beautiful Barringtons series by Kathleen Ayers, but this Deadly Sins series isn’t up to the same standard of storytelling. Sinfully Wanton is the 5th book, and tells the story of Aurora Sinclair, in her second Season, and her brother’s friend and business partner, Charles Worthington.
I did enjoy this book better than the first, the only other book I’ve read in this series, but it still felt a bit flat. The characters definitely have chemistry, but there’s not a lot of character development. Aurora is sexually curious, and while repeatedly stating that she will not behave in a scandalous manner in order to protect her family, she still does repeatedly behave in a scandalous manner for the time period. I found her character very immature despite the hardships growing up and the experiences she had which should have made her more mature.
Worth had some depth, but again, a lot of time spent on repeating the same ideas and thoughts. If he had been more honest with Aurora and Aurora had let him speak, they could’ve resolved issues sooner. Too many modern ideas and occasional phrases took me out of the book.
I did like some of the side characters, specifically the dowager Duchess of Ware, Aunt Lottie, and Holly the butler. They provided some much needed entertainment.
I read the previous book in The Five Deadly Sins series and wanted more. I picked it up midseries because I'm an impatient loon. I actually understood that it's not just based on the vices, but rather the Sinclair offspring. It makes a lot more sense with context. Sinfully Wanton was such a nice surprise. I'll be completely honest that I selected this from the catalog because I was feeling some kinda way. The title told me exactly what I was getting from this book. These two characters were straight to the chase, which I adored. There was no denying feelings or false pretenses dancing around their mutual attraction. Why can't every book snip through the shenanigans like this?
Aurora and Worth were everything. Their tension was delicious and their tug-a-war of emotions was so compelling. Their lead up to their culmination was excellently paced. I knew every scene was leading up to the big finale. I honestly wished there were more scenes considering how tantalizing their chemistry was written. Once again, their transparency was so refreshing and Aurora knew exactly what she wanted. More girl bosses in fiction please!
I'm glad I gave this series another chance and I was handsomely rewarded. The characters were perfection and everything I was missing from the previous book. Although I don't have KU, I'll have to find the other books in this series on the down low. These Sinclair children have that certain something and I'm dying to find out. These two were stellar and Sinfully Wanton to the max. I wouldn't mind finding my own Worth to get into some sinful shenanigans.
4.5 Stars
The fifth book in the series & a fun, witty & entertaining romance. I love the Sinclairs who were banished to Dunnings in Northumberland by their half brother Bentley. They scrimped & saved to survive & when Jordan inherited the earldom it was nearly bankrupt from Bentley’s excesses. However a huge coal seam was discovered at Dunnings & the Sinclairs are now rich. Aurora is participating in her second season & is bored. Far more curious about things of a physical nature than she should be, her interests could soon lead her down the path to ruin. A solution presents itself, in the form of Mr. Charles Worthington, her brother’s business partner, he’s older, something of a rake & makes her heart beat faster. Worth is at first shocked, then shamefully intrigued to be propositioned by Lady Aurora. At first, Worth declines her request even after she boldly kisses him senseless. But Aurora is persistent. I loved Worth & Aurora’s journey to a HEA, they were perfect for each other but Worth had been betrayed before & guarded his heart until the determined Aurora broke down the walls. There was also a lovely secondary romance, which made my enjoyment complete. A well written captivating romance

"Sinfully Wanton," the final book in Kathleen Ayers' "The Five Deadly Sins" series does not disappoint. FMC Aurora is a little bit scandalous, a little bit wanton, and a lot curious. Currently in her second season, she has wanted her older brother's bestie and business partner for years, but he has avoided her since her debut. Worth, the man in question, avoids Aurora because he wants her, too. But he also never intends to fall in love or marry, and thus knows he is not the man for her. A garden encounter leads to a scandalous book exchange which leads to more scandalous "exchanges" and eventually love.
This is such a fun and sexy read. Aurora is self-aware, determined, and eager for knowledge. Worth tries to resist - though not very hard. The chemistry between the pair is sizzling and the steam in this book is very well done. And let's not forget Aunt Lottie! The ton's worst chaperone but the best of aunts, especially for someone like Aurora. It was also nice to see cameos by the other Sinclair siblings and their spouses, I would have liked to see the villain get more comeuppance, but in all honesty, the more subtle consequences in the story are probably more realistic. Ayers is one of my favorite romance authors and this book is an excellent example as to why.
5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade for a complimentary ARC of this book. These opinions are my own.
Oh, my, what a read! Kathleen has another hit on her hands. Once you start reading you can’t put it down. All the books are great and can be read as standalone but better read in order, I think. I have not read the first two and plan on doing that. The Sinclair family has earned the name The Deadly Sins. Lady Aurora is the youngest, she is having her second season and finding it very boring. She looked forward to her first season, with the balls, dances and being in society till someone ruined it for her. One Charles Worthington! Charles is the best friend of her brother Drew and his business partner. He has spent a lot of time with the family and Aurora enjoyed playing cards with him and talking to him. Then she had a coming out party and he totally changed. He didn’t dance with her, which broke her heart, then he stopped coming by the house so often. He didn’t kid with her, or even speak to her any more than he had to. She didn’t understand. Aurora had always been half in love with Worth but now she has two suitors that she should choose between, but she finds herself comparing them to Worth and coming up short. Aurora has always had a romantic nature, believing in marriage but only a love match. She is a hands-on type of person and is very curious about the pleasure that man and women can have. Not the normal topic for unwed, young ladies. Her chaperone is either the worst or the best a young innocent lady could have. On one hand she is not afraid to answer any of her questions of sex or passion. Which most girls are left to figure out on their own after getting married. But she also goes off on her own quests and leaves Aurora alone to get into trouble. Which is why at a garden party she is drunk after having champagne and more drinks. Worth finds her stumbling around and offers to take her home. She denies him and goes to the maze only to see him in a compromising almost act with another lady! Worth hears her and she ends up planting him with a Hugh kiss! Worth is shocked, he is older, a rake with many experiences and yet he can’t stop his attraction to her. When she asks him to teach her physical pleasure as she is curious, he firmly denies. Till she tricks him into helping her by telling him she will just ask other man too! Poor Worth, he knows her brothers will kill him if he touches her, yet she can’t be running around London asking men to touch her! He thinks he has the answer and gives her a very naughty, scandalous but educational book to read with pictures! He hopes it will answer all her questions. Stupid man, his downfall will come with each chapter she reads of “The Bloom of the Rose”. There are really two stories in this book. Worth and Aurora's and Aunt Lottie and her lost love both are super. There is a lot going on with both our couples. Many secrets, a couple of wayward suitors, the past of both and how society acts and treats others. It has a lot of passionate love scenes so be ready. This is a fast read and will have you laughing out loud and crying some too. Don’t miss this one, it’s great. I received an ARC and wish to thank the author. This is my honest opinion.
*MFC in love with her brother’s best friend
*virgin MFC
*she makes the first move
Though number five of a series I haven’t read, I didn’t feel lost in the slightest reading this (though the ending featured characters I haven’t yet read enough about to appreciate) and Aurora and Worth were fantastic mains whose story I enjoyed. *I also really liked Aurora’s Aunt Lottie.
A fun and quick read, I am planning to read more of this series.
Thank you to Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for the DRC
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25/6.
🌶️🌶️.5/5.
I had a blast with this story but I wish there was a bit more after Worth & Aurora finally came to their senses. After their back and forward, I needed a bit more of them together but other than that I really enjoyed them, both together but also individually.
Aurora was a breath of fresh air in the sense that she was the daring type. After what her and her family went through, a bit of gossip wouldn’t stop her from satisfying her curiosity. I loved her and I liked that she in the end wanted to live with no regrets and went after Worth.
Worth was scarred for life when it comes to love but Aurora penetrated through his hardened heart and never left. I loved that he chose to forgive the woman who did him wrong in order to fully appreciate the woman Aurora was and to move forward with her.
I also loved the side romance story we had going on and I’m glad the auntie had her hea too.
* I read an arc of this book. *
A Super Sexy Read!
Worth was running, running scared from his best friends little sister. Once Aurora came of age, he suddenly had inappropriate thoughts about her, he was a rake, swore of marriage and he knew the only way to get his hands on her, would be to marry her which he wasn’t prepared to do!
Aurora had been half in love with Worth for years and was determined to get his attention. If it meant she needed to act wanton with him, then wanton she would be.
This is such a fun, entertaining read with lots of witty moments, an unexpected romance, some super steamy moments, a touch of scandal and a HEA Worth was more than happy to claim with Aurora.
A page-turning read not to be missed!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I almost had the feeling that I had read this book before. It's about a young lady named Aurora who has decided to act upon her long-time infatuation with her older brother's best friend Charles Worthington. Of course, Worth initially does his best to resist. After all, he doesn't wish to risk angering Aurora's brothers. Not to mention the fact that he has a terrible reputation and does not want to marry. So, plot-wise this book was very predictable.
On the positive side, this story was quite entertaining. Aurora was a spunky heroine. I liked her and I was happy to see that she wasn't out there trying to make her way in a man's world. She actually wanted to get married and didn't have a bunch of modern ideas floating around in her head. I also liked Worth. His attempts to resist Aurora were pathetic and humorous. He was obviously doomed. Aunt Lottie was a trip. She was definitely the worst chaperone, and everyone knew it. Aunt Lottie and some of the more minor characters provided comic relief in spades. Everyone in the story got the ending that they deserved.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.
A steamy and passionate read where the heroine has an inquisitive mind, is passionate and fearless. The hero has been bitterly betrayed and has to lay the past to rest before they can go forward. A secondary love story adds depth to this tale. Wonderful supporting characters and very unlikeable villains you can love to hate!
