a very fun read! I really enjoy the “book becomes real” plot line, and this executes it well!

it’s got warring vampire clans, vengeful witches, estranged bffs, hostile reluctant allies to lovers, casual queer and trans rep, and more!

I found both of our MCs to have compelling POVs, and their conflict + its resolution were both reasonable. the romance was cute and built well, and the main mystery was a good plot device! all in all, a good way to spend part of a plane ride!

I think there is an audience for this book, and it's writing style, but I was unable to connect with the book. I love vampires, fantasy, and escapism so I was so excited to imagine reading a book where a person was dropped into their favorite book series. While there were some lol moments, I found the fact that the character's desire to flee/escape was due to SA clashed with the tone and campy-ness of the rest of the book. Overall, it felt like the book was too ambitious or disjointed and it did not accomplish what I wanted based on the blurb/cover. I adore this author and hate that this one fell flat for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing for an eARC of this novel!

I enjoyed this story so much! I am a girlie who fell victim to loving books that revolve around fandom from a very young age. Staring with Fangirl, to Geekerella, to Eliza and Her Monsters, and on and on. This book especially was fun though, since it added the element of the fiction literally coming to life.

Besides, who doesn't love all this vampire drama?

This was exactly what I expected and hoped for. It was a perfect read after a long week of university. The drama was there. The plot was amazing. The characters were fantastic especially! I was shocked at how well they were fleshed out considering what the premise is—especially the main character's background. I thought that was very well done and executed in a respectful and realistic way.

This will likely be a book that I will end up buying, which is rare for me to do after reading a Netgalley book. I'm eager to read Kate Stayman-London's other book!

This is the first I have read from this author, and it was truly a ride. This book read more of a fanfiction, or a Wattpad story. I sometimes believed I logged into Wattpad to read something. I didn't relate to or feel for any characters. The story had its moments, but the rest was dragging. I was expecting more from the story, and found myself disappointed.

That being said, it's not the worst thing a person can read. It had its moments, and sometimes the story was fun. There are a lot of triggers involved in this book, as well, as many reviews have stated.

I want to personally thank NetGalley, as well as the author, publisher, and anyone else involved in providing copies, for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Reviews will also be submitted to Goodreads when possible.

Vampires and books? What can be better? Fang fiction takes both the FMC and the reader into a world where sexy vampires run amuck, nothing is what it seems, and can one both survive and find love? Interesting premise and enjoyable story.

I am loving the refound love of Vampires and the stories this year that are "what if you were dropped into the world of your favorite book?". As someone who knows she would die within five minutes being separated from her SSRIs and safety water bottle, I love imagining myself as the main characters.

Also, I don't know why as I have a strong aversion to blood, but vampires are so sexy. Well, female vampires are.

This book is great, not taking itself too seriously while also exploring the importance of humanity. I laughed a lot while reading it, and cried a bit too.

Thank you Netgalley and Dial Press for providing me with an ARC of this book!

"Fang Fiction" is a really fun and cute novel, but I don't think I'll remember much about its months from now. If you like really quirky novels then this book will be for you. I really liked the author's writing style. The prose sounded intelligent and well-thought out. The main problem I had with this book was the tone. The tone is all over the place. I really tried to like the main character, but she was a little obvious and dim-witted for my liking. The romance was predictable, but it lacked heat and intensity for me. Decent book but I was hoping for a juicier read.

This book's strength is also its weakness, which is that it's written like a two-part (or so) television episode more than it's a fully formed romance, fantasy, or adventure novel. It's good natured and tries to give voice to some heavy and important subjects, but I don't necessarily think that the connection between what Tess went through (sexual assault) and her realizing her power (not actual power, just her ability to Fight Again) is well defined. There's nothing *wrong* with this book but I don't think it's particularly memorable, either.

I had so much fun with this one and it was easy to read in one sitting. As a big TVD, Buffy, True Blood fan, this book sounded right up my alley and it was. It was ridiculous at times and campy and everything I wanted all wrapped up in one novel ~~ which I am also thrilled about because I don't have to wait impatiently for a whole series to come out (although I'd fully read any spin off stories if the author decides to write them🤪). I loved the concept of finding out your favorite book series is real and that the characters you love need your help. I especially loved that Tess doesn't just wake up in some alternate universe or stuck in a book -- that the vampires were real and she wasn't hallucinating -- because it's a romance and obviously needs a happy ending(:

The way the book is written, we get to see what's going on with Tess and Callum and the other vampires, plus what's going on back home in New York. At first I only wanted Tess and Callum and didn't want to be pulled away from the vampire drama but Joni and Octavia are fun characters too and I liked seeing their relationship develop -- plus seeing all the drama unfold in both worlds while the MCs had no idea what was going on with their loved ones built the tension. There are some breaks in the true story for snippets from the Blood Feud books, episodes of a podcast that talks about the series, and online gossip, which make it all feel very rooted in the present/real world.

Tess experienced SA a few years ago which was the catalyst for her leaving Columbia and the PhD program she loved, plus the best friend she ever had, and the author makes this very clear from the start of the book so if that's a trigger for you consider reaching for another book. It's all handled with care and no flashbacks are brought into the story until later in the book so there is a lot of warning. Tess's trauma impacts her choices/actions throughout the story and is really working through it all throughout the novel. There's a lot of self healing and self realization here which propels the story forward and helps build/heal some of the relationships.

The topic of being a hero and what that means or how it's typically portrayed is brought up a lot and I enjoyed how the characters discuss it. There are a lot of pop culture references and analysis of the way society depicts men, women, heroes, villains, etc. in works of art. So if you enjoy vampire fiction in any capacity and want to read it and read characters who love it and talk about it in the book you are reading, you should pick this one up!

I loved Fang Fiction and would highly recommend it to any TVD, Buffy, True Blood, Twilight, Bride fans or readers looking for a quick, fun book they can read it one sitting(:

Thank you Dial Press Trade Paperback for the eARC via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I can't wait to buy a physical copy when it publishes on October 1st!

As someone who adored One To Watch, I was excited to receive an advanced copy of Stayman-London's latest novel, Fang Fiction (thank you, thank you, thank you)!

The premise of this book intrigued me: a human ends up in one of her favorite vampire fantasy series, Blood Feud, where she's tasked to save the infamous villain Callum. And maybe save herself at the same time?

This was a quick read with a fun cast of characters, but overall, it fell flat for me. There was a lot of build-up in the middle for a final, action-packed sequence that felt too rushed, and solutions to the main problems felt not thought through or too easy to answer. However, I still believe this is a fun Fall read and will make you want to revisit Twilight or the Vampire Diaries series.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House for a early copy of Fang Fiction . Fang Fiction is about are main character name Tessa Roseboom: shy a constant reader and one book she obsessed with called Blood Freud this book has help her escape her reality from being sexually assaulted. Now I have problems with Fang Fiction moments where I want to DNF for instant its writing like a WATTPAD book I love wattpad bring me back to freshman year of high school but this is a adult novel very cheesy vampire dialogue. Now this is a story within a story Tessa is part of Blood Freud she the main character within her favorite novel but the story when on forever and i felt all over the place. But you can tell the author had fun writing this novel.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House

I loved Kate Stayman-London's debut novel, One to Watch, so much that I was desperate to read a copy of her next book ... even if it was about vampires. I've never been a supernatural or vampire girly. However, I surprised myself with how much I was captivated and intrigued by this one. Obviously, the exemplary writing skills remain that made me so curious to keep reading. Like, I was hooked from the jump and didn't want to put down. Like One to Watch, Fang Fiction does read quite quickly.

It was just such an interesting concept because it's a vampire book but it's also not a vampire book and it's all so meta. And like everything from the book-within-a-book is the opposite as the book, which is so fascinating and kept me on my toes. All in all, Stayman-London's sophomore novel hit AGAIN. W00, this novel was so good and quirky and different, plus fun and authentic. Seriously, I'm not a vampire girly but I was soooo into this book, which I attribute to the writing, real characters, and the world-building.

Tess Rosenbloom, a die-hard vampire fiction fan, gets the shock of her life when she discovers her beloved novels might be more reality than fantasy. "Fang Fiction" is a thrilling dark rom-com where Tess is plunged into a world of real vampires, unexpected romance, and a dash of self-discovery.

This unique premise will hook you from the start: the characters Tess has been obsessed with need her help. She must break them out of their island prison, a task that will catapult her from her ordinary life into a whirlwind of adventure. Adding to the intrigue, Tess's estranged best friend is entangled in a passionate affair with a captivating vampire.

This book is a genre-bending delight, seamlessly blending humor, action, mystery, and romance. It also boasts LGBTQAI+ representation and even throws in some witches for good measure! Through it all, Tess confronts her past trauma with resilience, making her a relatable and compelling protagonist.

While the book's foundation in a popular book series adds a fun layer with excerpts of fan theories and online discussions, it can also feel a bit chaotic at times. With numerous characters, side plots, and two settings, there's a lot to keep track of. This might be intentional, as the first in a series, to lay the groundwork for future installments.

Despite its complexity, "Fang Fiction" delivers on the allure of vampire lore with a magical twist. The author also raises thought-provoking questions about chasing dreams and the ultimate rewards of self-discovery.

🩸❤️ 📖 Fan Fiction is a genre-bending. Romance + Fantasy + Paranormal = I'm here for it!

As Tessa navigates her new double life as an anonymous fanfic writer, she secretly believes the vampires from her favorite book, Blood Feud, are real. But that can't be. Vampires don't exist, right? Wrong. Until one walks into her life. And they're just as alluring as in the books. Now, she's thrust into their world, but can she outrun her past, and is it worth risking a bite to the neck? I loved Kate Stayman-London's debut, One To Watch, and this has the same voice, but instead of reality TV, make it fanfiction!

If you’ve ever wanted to wake up one day only to realize Buffy/True Blood were basically documentaries, this book might be for you!

I was pleasantly surprised to discover this was a good-vs-evil-vampire-shenanigans book rather than a romance novel (absolutely minimal spice if you’re worried). It has: pop culture references, feminism, queer characters, fan fic about fan fic (it’s meta, think about it), witches, some serious topics (like sexual assault) but also some teen angst vibes (as a treat). And most importantly, an actual plot!

I really enjoyed reading this, and didn’t put it down until I was done with it. The only negative was that the writing was sometimes repetitive, but hey: I didn’t rewatch the entirety of Buffy at least twice for its literary writing.

Fang fiction tells the story of Tess Rosenbloom a grad school drop out with major insomniac tendencies. Her sleeping issues made her the perfect candidate to be the night manager at a chic hotel in downtown Brooklyn. She spends her downtime curled up with her favorite vampire series Blood Feud and even gets into conspiracy theories that the vampires in the novel are REAL. But she knows it’s just that, conspiracy until one walks into her hotel…

Turns out the conspiracies are TRUE! And the sexy villain is trapped. Eager to escape her mundane life Tess agrees to help rescue him. Soon she’s enthralled in a life of fantasy full of moon meadows and enchanted forests. Trapped in a world full of vampires waiting eagerly to be able to feast on her, Tess, against her better judgement begins to fall for one of them. Is being trapped in your dream novel an actual dream or a nightmare?

This story was so delightfully silly, scary and sexy as hell. The world building was fantastic I truly felt emerged on the isle. The characters dynamics with each other were so pure and joyous to watch especially as they repair certain aspects of themselves. Every time I thought I knew what would happen next, a new twist would pop up and I would sink even deeper into the story. It has everything you could ever want in a cozy romance perfect for fall! Witches, vampires, sapphic love story honestly what more could one want? At the same time we also deal with heavy themes of healing from trauma through love and community.

I recommend this for Buffy and Twilight lovers, romantasy girlies and lovers everywhere.

Thank you netgalley and random house publishing for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

Loved this fun vampire book so get spooky season started off right! After Tess experiences a traumatic event she’s retreats from her grad school programs where she becomes a the night manager at a hotel. The only thing she finds solace in is her favorite books series “Blood Feud” about a group a vampires banished to an island world where they partake in blood feuds between two trivial clans. Tess find these two worlds colliding when one of the characters shows up at her hotel asking her to help. This sets Tess off on an adventure that helps her find her voice again. I loved how this book combined Tess’s experiences with a fan podcast of the book along with chapters of the book to create this story.

This was a really unique and fun read for me! I love that not only are you reading from the main characters perspective but you also get to read sections of the vampire novel she’s obsessed with, transcripts from a podcast based on those novels, and text messages between her and other characters. Fang Fiction is about this girl or technically two girls who are obsessed with a vampire book series. Tess goes through a traumatic event in her life and has to take a break from her current reality and move, but the books are what are constant in her life. That’s until she realizes that maybe the characters in the book are not fiction after all. And perhaps she runs into a few of them.. I loved this story! The characters, the setting, the imagery was all super fun for me. I would definitely read a sequel! My only con is that I felt the ending was super rushed. The majority of the story involves finding a solution that seems near impossible, and then when they find that solution and run in to conflict it happens so suddenly and the book ends pretty quickly after. But I didn’t mind the ending! I thought it made sense and did a good job closing out the characters.

Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing for access to this read! 🧛🏻‍♀️

I really enjoyed the fantasy elements of this. The premise was interesting—made me think of Long Live Evil, which also came out recently—and well executed. I felt like the various real-world plot lines worked well with the fantasy ones and found the whole thing quick and compelling!

However, I didn’t love the actual romance between either of the two main couples. It’s not that I objected to the characters being together. That was fine. But it really felt like a switch was just flipped from “not romantic” to “love of my life” so quickly with minimal build up or development. The relationship with Joni was better, for sure, and had a little more lead up & complexity. But I just didn’t understand why the MMC wanted to be with Tess. I mean, I liked her! I get why someone would generally want to be with her. But he doesn’t even know her! They barely talked before the moment where he says he was falling in love with her. It makes no sense to me.

Anyway. I still had a really great time reading this and would definitely recommend it, especially to people who read fated mates type tropes (this doesn’t have that but it’s a similar timeline).

"Fang Fiction" by Kate Stayman-London is a bloody fun vampire romp, perfect for fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Vampire Diaries. Stayman-London masterfully blends humor, fandom, and romance, creating a captivating and fresh take on vampire lore.

Tess Rosenbloom, a vampire superfan and Brooklyn hotel manager, finds herself swept into the dark and dangerous world of her favorite vampire series, Blood Feud, when its sexy villain crashes the party.

Will she help the vicious villains Octavia and Callum Yoo (think Gemma Chan and Henry Golding) reunite or side with her favorite fanged hero Felix (picture Timothée Chalamet)? And who exactly is the mysterious *Blood Feud* author who seems to know too much about this secret island of vampires? These questions keep you hooked as the plot unfolds, adding layers of intrigue and excitement to Tess's journey.
If you're in the mood for a sharp, witty, and utterly enjoyable vampire tale, Fang Fiction is a must-read!
