This book was cute. I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters and I always like a second chance romance. The plot of this flowed really well too and it went by quickly. I enjoyed the aspect of trapped in a small town also. I did hate the miscommunication between these two the first time they were together, but I still enjoyed the book.
Another winner from Falon Ballard! I will read anything and everything she writes. Her characters are just fun, and her stories pull you in. I also like that her books aren't overly long. Sometimes, stories can feel too long, but Falon manages to pack in a punch in less pages than normal romance books, something I appreciate as someone with ADHD.
Writers and ex lovers get stuck sharing a room during a snow storm. This is their 2nd chance at love. Can they put their past hurts aside and have a happy ending?
Both were writing a book about a second d chance romance. That turns into them co-writing the same book. One like happy endings and one doesn't. Can they come to an agreement?
Great 2nd chance romance. Must read!
This is a perfect quick “beach read” forced proximity romance for the holidays. Falon Ballard has done it again and I think this is my favorite of her books so far.
Jess and Nick are romance writers working for the same publisher but both are struggling with writer’s block. Jess spends her days working in a coffee shop to the pay her bills and dreams of her own happily ever after especially since Nick broke her heart of Christmas 5 years ago. Nick writes romance novels full-time without happy endings, which is what he does in real life as well.
When their publisher requests that Jess presents Nick with the romance write of the year award at their holiday party, Jess is not thrilled but could use the exposure to help her next book. They started messaging online and it somehow sparks both their writer’s block. Upon arrival of the party, Jess finds out she doesn’t have a room booked, the hotel is fully booked and the snow has everyone stranded in the hotel. Nick offeres to share his room, but that can be nothing but trouble, right?!
A special thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the opportunity to read this book early. I could not put it down and it’s perfect book to ease into the holidays.
This was light and fun and dare I say it, the perfect mix of Christmas and romance. I’m not someone who typically reads holiday books, but I love Falon Ballard’s stories. This did not disappoint. I think this was also the hottest/spiciest FB book I’ve read and I loved it!
It’s a fast read that is light on drama and left me with warm and fuzzies.
Falon Ballard is one of my favorite romance authors, so seeing a Christmas book as one of her next releases had be absolutely giddy. And this did NOT disappoint! It was a slump-buster for me after recently reading something a bit heavier and darker. This is definitely a super slow burn, but I enjoyed the build so much and the characters themselves that I didn't mind as much. I also loved that they were both romance authors, that was a very fun plot to add in as co-authors,
4.5 Stars
A short and sweet second-chance holiday romance.
Two exes have to spend the weekend snowed in at a work holiday party/conference, which gives them the perfect opportunity to not only collaborate on a romance novel, but on figuring out what exactly went wrong.
We get flashbacks to their past together and it helps move the story long in the present. I adored the male lead, Nick, and found him swoony. I wanted to love Jess more, but it felt like she was pricklier than needed and I couldn't understand why Nick was still so obsessed with her, let alone why he fell in love with her.
It was such a great holiday romance and one I adored and can absolutely recommend!
This was a really quick, perfect little Christmas read! It had all the typical tropes - snowed in, one bed, second chance, and it was a perfect book to kick off the holiday season!
very short and sweet read. falon ballard has been one of my favorite auto buy authors for a while now and this book did not disappoint it has a bunch of sweet and cute moments and made me really happy.
First and foremost thank you to Falon Ballard, G.P. Putnam's Sons and Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Short & Sweet:
This second chance romance has its cute moments, but it felt slightly lacking compared to other books I’ve read recently. While the spice was well-written, some repetitive language and flashback scenes detracted from the overall experience.
In-Depth Opinion:
I may have been a bit more critical of this book since I just finished another romance about writers that I enjoyed more. The second chance romance premise is sweet, but it seemed to miss a certain spark that I can’t quite pinpoint. Although the spice was well-executed, I found the repeated use of terms like "hotness" a bit annoying, and the flashback sex scenes while the characters were apart felt like an odd choice for me personally. At times, I glanced at the progress bar and realized I was decently far into the book yet felt like not much had happened. While the story leans into cheesy tropes, it’s not without its charm. I appreciated how the author realistically addressed the reasons for their original breakup and how they navigated their happy ending, which added depth to the overall narrative.
There were so many great tropes in this book! It was a fairly quick read so I flew through it. I definitely recommend adding this to your holiday TBR.
Jess is a romance author/coffee shop barista who loves everything Christmas. She’s also finds herself living in one of the most commonly used romance tropes, second chance romance when she’s forced to introduce her ex at her publisher’s annual holiday award ceremony. Nick has been the romance world’s golden boy author since his debut novel, despite his refusal to write a happy ending. Cue a snowstorm, a hotel booking mix up and somehow the two exes are forced to share a room while also trying to write their next big romance hits.
Thanks NetGalley for this eArc in exchange of my honest review, and I’m sorry in advance romance trope
lovers. This was stupid. The story was marketed as a holiday romance but honestly that was such a minimal piece you could remove all references to Christmas and it wouldn’t affect the story. I personally think forced proximity stories are generally icky (someone tell me why I keep reading them.. I don’t know!) and completely unrealistic because if I really hate someone, I sure as hell am not sharing a room with them. Second chance romances can be wonderful but not if the reason for the initial breakup was a lack of communication. Jess as an author even comments that she herself hates this in a story yet this is exactly why she and Nick broke up! Rounded up to 2 stars because there was a surprising amount of 🌶️ for what I thought would be a fully cutesy book. Just didn’t warm my jaded heart enough.
This book is full of cliches - second chance romance, only one bed, forced proximity, miscommunication, title characters named after New Girl characters, but I loved it anyways. It was everything I want in a cozy Holiday romance!
Jess is a semi-successful writer who makes more money as a barista. Her ex, Nick, is a mega successful romance author under the same publisher. When she's asked to intro him at the publisher holiday party, she does it for the sake of her career - and sparks fly. When they all get snowed in, Nick and Jess are forced to examine why they broke up and if they can actually write themselves a HEA.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.
A cute and quick holiday read! Nick and Jess, who are both authors, get their second chance at love 5 years after their breakup! I ate this up! 4 stars!
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!
5 stars.
A second chance romance of two authors, exes, stuck together in a snowed in hotel with only one bet. This book was perfect.
I loved both the characters. Their dueling thoughts. How they responding to seeing each other again and how they worked on their issues. And the steamy scenes were steamy.
I adored this book.
Thank you Penguin Putnam Group and NetGalley for the ARC.
This book was a good read but did not knock it out of the park for me. Two exes who are stuck together in a snowed in hotel. I do love a good Hallmark movie setting. Enjoyable.
Thank you Netgalley for the advanced reading copy! This was a cute and nice holiday, second chance novel - or novella? Two writers reconnect at an Inn during the holidays, can they move on from their past break up and find love again? I liked the length of the book, not too long or not too short. I think second chances are kind of hard to do with holiday romances since it can be a heavy trope due to treading on past issues in a relationship. But the plot point of them both being writers helped them have an excuse to dive into their past thoughtfully, though I do think the ultimate reason for their first time break up is pretty silly - but this is usually an issue for me with second chance romances. This book was a good blend of light and thoughtful, steamy and sweet holiday. Also this was I recommend for fans of Falon Ballard, holiday books, and contemporary second chance romances.
This was short and sweet (at times) but I felt like it was missing the depth I was looking for in a second chance romance.
I know that this is supposed to be lighter because it’s a holiday romance and almost novella short, but still I expected more. I know Falon Ballard is capable of more, I read it in her last novel.
I liked the characters but I felt like I never fully understood their seasonings despite being a dual pov book. They were cute together, but because of the numerous steamy scenes it felt more like lust rather than love at times even though they had apparently been in a three year relationship before they broke up the first time round. Also, the reason for the initial breakup felt very flimsy and unrealistic. I had a hard time believing it.
I know a lot of people are going to love it, but I just can’t. Too steamy and too little plot for me. 🙃
Thank you to Putnam and NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you SO much for letting me read this fantastic, steamy story. I have been waiting for it for months, and devoured it. I loved the characters - even the side ones - and the plot was perfect. Even if you felt like you knew what was going to happen, you can't put the book down. Thank you for writing steamy, thoughtful romance!
ALL I WANT IS YOU is a swoony holiday romance about two exes, both of whom are romance authors, who reunite years after their breakup at their publisher's holiday ball. however, they find themselves trapped at the hotel due to a snowstorm, and of course, there are no rooms left...
i'm a sucker for so many of the tropes in this book and it was such a quick, cute, and fun read, perfect to get in the holiday spirit! nick and jess (and yes, there is a new girl reference in the book) have such good dynamic and i loved seeing them come back to each other after everything, especially the way that jess really made nick work for it.
read if you like:
- second chance
- author MCs
- short and sweet
thanks to netgalley and putnam for the advanced copy!
