Ohhhh I love a second chance romance!! I’m so happy that Jess and Nick got their second chance. They deserved it. I was routing for them all along! I love Falon Ballard’s writing and this one did not disappoint again! I loved that this story was based around Christmas and that Jess was able to get Nick to love Christmas again! It’s a fun read as both are authors writing love stories! Nick never writes a happy ending, which makes me chuckle because I won’t read stories when there isn’t a happy ending! I sure loved this ending! Don’t miss out on this story!
If you are looking for some holiday cheer, grab a peppermint mocha from your favorite cafe and settle into your reading chair with All I Want Is You by Falon Ballard. This quick read, reminiscent of a Hallmark movie, will have you in the Christmas spirit in no time!
Our main characters, Nick and Jess, are romance writers. Nick is a Scrooge - he detests Christmas and is infamous for writing romance novels without happily ever afters. He broke up with Jess shortly after her favorite holiday - Christmas - five years ago, and Jess still does not know why.
When Jess is forced to present the Romance Author of the Year award to Nick at their publisher's Christmas party, she vows to make the best of it by wearing her best revenge dress and leaning on the support of her best friend. Her plan goes awry, though, when an epic snowstorm grounds her friend's flight, and the inn misplaces her booking, leaving her with one option: sharing a room (and a bed!) with Nick.
As the storm rages on for days, Nick and Jess are forced to confront their past and their lingering attraction for one another, will Nick and Jess get their HEA, or will their romance end like one of Nick's novels?
I absolutely adored this book - so much so that I read it in one sitting! I loved the little reference to New Girl with the main characters' names and personalities that were so similar to the show's characters. I particularly enjoyed reading the flash-backs to the Christmases that Nick and Jess spent together as a couple so you could understand the love and depth of their relationship.
My only complaint is that the ending was a bit rushed. I wanted another chapter in which we got to spend their HEA Christmas day with them instead of fast forwarding to the following year's Christmas but given the pacing of the book, it made sense that we did not get to experience that with them.
Read this book if you love:

“It’s like the romance gods are trying to murder us”
Thank you Putnam Books, NetGalley, and the amazingly talented Falon Ballard for the opportunity to read an early copy of this wonderful book! All opinions are my own.
A holiday second chance romance from one of my favorite authors? Umm,Yes please!!
Falon Ballard is an auto-buy, can’t wait to read, author for me and I have never been disappointed by anything she has ever written. I love her books so much and this one is no exception. It’s fun. It’s sweet. It’s filled with tension and witty banter. It’s cozy and Christmas and so many things that we all love about the holidays. There are New Girl references, snowstorms, spice and peppermint mochas. Have I convinced you yet?
This book is adorable and I promise that if you are a fan of holiday romances then you will love this one!
I LOVE a good second chance romance, a holiday romance, and a book about people who love and/or work with books. Put those all together and you have a wonderful, fun and spicy book that was such a great read.
Falon Ballard is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors!! This Christmas themed story was short, sweet, and spicy! I really bought into the second chance nature of this story, and felt really invested in their relationship. I also loved that both main characters were romance authors, that put a fun spin on the story. This one comes out in September, so be sure to add it to your holiday book list for this year! I’ll definitely reread it at Christmastime!
Two exes who are authors at the same publishing company. 👨👩💞
One writing award. 🏆
A shared hotel room with one bed. 🛏️
What could possibly go wrong?
Exes and authors, Nick and Jessica (yes, just like “New Girl”) are reunited for an award banquet, after breaking up five years ago. Jessica is asked to present the award to Nick because they’re under the same publisher. Which she absolutely does not want to do. After he’s made aware, he reaches out in a message to break the ice (and tension) before they see each other for the first time since their break-up.
Nick plans to make a small vacation out of the event, but Jessica’s stay is extended when a snow storm rolls in. With no available rooms, she has to stay with her ex a few extra days. After finding out they’re working on similar projects, it’s suggested that they work on it together.
Since they have extra time at the inn, they give it a try. Working on their project brings up a lot of emotions about their own relationship — What went wrong? Are the feelings and attraction still there? Can they make it work? Is it worth a second chance?
“All I Want Is You” by Falon Ballard has all the makings of a fun holiday read! It’s warm and cozy with festive cheer in some parts, spicier in others and a slow build that makes you cheer for the couple in focus. It’s a shorter read, but packed with love, a slow burn, angst to keep you on the edge of your seat and rooting for the main couple. Ballard has a way of making her stories swoony and realistic enough in the actions of her characters.

What can be better than a holiday second-chance romance? A slightly meta version of the trope with a ton of cute holiday cheesiness. This was a super sweet book and it would be a perfect read for the holidays.
I received an arc from netgalley and the publisher.
What a fun holiday romance. The banter was amazing. I love Fallon’s voice as an author. She is an automatic read/buy for me. The length was great, it never felt like it was dragging. Loved the implementation of the challenge that authors who date face. Also loved the debates between HEA and non HEA endings (I’m a fan of both). Will be a perfect read for the holiday season
A steamy hallmark movie in book form and one that I greatly enjoyed! In this second chance romance, the reader is pulled quickly and seamlessly through Nick and Jessica reconnecting, working together to over come writers block, and ultimately finding their very own happily ever after. Was it predictable? Yes. But I still loved following along as it all played out!
I’m a sucker for a second chance romance, especially when the timing isn’t right the first time and Ballard delivered. I also appreciated the pacing and her writing style. And though a small element, I loved Alyssa and Kennedy. Often when I read romance stories instead of an angel and devil on my shoulder, I feel I have the voice of logic versus emotion. Alyssa and Kennedy played that role naturally and effectively.
I was given a free copy of this book; I’m leaving an honest and voluntary review.
Happy Christmas is July … or should I say August. I apologize for the corny joke but it’s been the running theme with my book bestie in regard to this book. I was supposed to read this arc back in July, but life got in the way. So here we are reading it as one of my first picks for August. I have zero regrets because I absolutely adored this book and devoured it in less than 24 hours.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, for sending me this ARC. I’m a recent new fan to Falon Ballard books. This is only the second book I’ve read by her and let me tell you “All I Want Is You” did not disappoint. “All I Want Is You” is a fun second chance romance filled with all of my favorite tropes. We’ve got forced proximity, only one bed, and cozy holiday romance feels.
The book focuses on exes Jessica and Nick, they are both romance writers stranded at a hotel a week before Christmas. Both are experiencing writers block and due to a bad winter storm are forced to spend more time together. During this time they both find inspiration for writing and start to feel sparks in rekindling their romance.
Even though it’s the middle of Florida summer heat for me. I still had a really great time reading this book. I felt all the cozy heartwarming moments and was seriously craving a peppermint mocha. All in all It was sweet, romantic, and realistic romcom that I can 100% recommend.
Once again, Falon Ballard delivered a wonderful romance, and I can't wait to read more of her books!
Fallon Ballard is one of my favorite authors. All I Want is You is her latest book and it was a great one! Don’t skip this one!
Many thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
The first 25% sucked me right into the story, but then it stalled. I found it to be repetitive, slow, and I just didn’t become emotionally invested in the characters. For a short book, the last 2/3 took forever for me to get through. I love the author though, and look forward to what she does next!
Lead characters named Nick and Jess? Say less. You had me at the nod to New Girl. This book was delicious. I love a good Christmas read in the summer and this one was just absolutely perfect. It almost felt like I was reading satire, learning the ins and outs of a writer’s process, hearing about all the tropes and lingo- I loved it.
The second chance romance was absolutely top tier. Nick and Jess’ chemistry absolutely hit from the moment we read their snarky Instagram dms. This book has amazing banter and wit, but it will also break your heart just a little bit. I don’t think there is a book this author has read that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!
What a good book!!! Such a good story and great writing style. This was my first by this author and will not be my last! Such a cute holiday romcom!
What can I say? This book has some of my favorite tropes - forced proximity, only one bed, second chance - and to top it all off, it’s a holiday story!
I enjoy reading about authors, especially romance authors, and I liked that the male main character was a romance author - although as an avid romance reader, I definitely appreciated Jess’s indignance about being considered a romance author, despite the fact that he never wrote happy endings!
The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because of the reason Nick broke up with Jess in the first place - it was a simple thing that he could have talked to her about that would have avoided all the pain in the first place!
All in all, this was a charming story that made me want to snuggle up in an armchair in front of the Christmas tree with a peppermint mocha in hand.
Thanks to NetGalley and Putnam for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Okay….this book brought my little heart so much joy. Who knew I needed a cute little holiday romance book in the middle of July to bring my heart so much freaking joy!!
Pitch perfect, meta romance about two romance writers, living through and writing a second-chance romance. Love thr premise, loved the holiday timeline and loved the characters. You can't help but root for them. And swoon. And imagine it is all real.
3.5 rounded up to 4. The beginning and ending were strong but the middle kinda bored me. I skimmed a bunch in the middle. Glad I stuck it out bc the ending made me cheesy grin!
Super quick and super cute second chance holiday romance between two romance authors. Jess writes romances books with HEAs despite not getting her own happily ever after after Nick broke up with her right after her favorite holiday, Christmas. Nick is also a romance author but his books don’t have HEAs and when he is given an award by his publisher, imagine his surprise when he learns that his ex is the one presenting it to him.
Now they are snowed in together and forced to share a room after a booking mixup so you can imagine the sexual tension is high as well is the desire to get answers to the question of what broke them. I truly enjoyed this book because I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that Falon Ballard has written. This is the perfect quick holiday romance read if you are looking for a second chance story with a lot of angst and realness to your characters.
Thank you @putnambooks @falonballard and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
