This book is cute like adorable lovesick cute, some spiciness, sweet, and short. It was an easy and quick read once I came back to it!
Nick and Jess, I mean they were all the things romance books are about I feel like, especially second chances.
I loved Nick's grand gesture, just tears welling in my eyeballs. That was so freaking cute and that epilogue!
Overall: 3.5 stars and I'll be reading the other books by this author
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read this ARC for my honest review.

This is one of the fastest paced romances I've read in a while. Was shocked that the entirety of their second chance romance (not to mention the writing of an entire book) took place over a few days, but it was ultimately cute. For an enemies to lovers storyline, the basis of their animosity also was surprisingly sound / understandable.

4.5 stars rounded up. This was such a great way to kick off my last minute Christmas in July ARC reads. It might be my favorite Falon Ballard book yet.
In a very meta way of storytelling, Nick and Jess (yes, there is a New Girl reference made in response to their names, which I love) are both published romance writers who had their own love story that ended five years ago. When Jess is essentially volun-told that she will be presenting an award to her ex at their shared publisher’s annual holiday party, she doesn’t expect that they’ll end up stranded together at the host resort. She expects even less that they’ll find themselves co-writing a second chance holiday romance, both on paper and in real life.
I think the reason this second chance worked for me, aside from just generally finding more enjoyment in anything centered around the holidays, is because it’s clear that Nick and Jess are still connected despite barely having spoken in five years. There is still chemistry that burns between them and a tension that doesn’t feel malicious or vindictive even when it’s edged with resentment and anger. It’s an unresolved feeling and unfinished business. Whether it will be a true romance ending for them or one of Nick’s not-actually-a-romance endings is something they both question.
The way that they work out their past issues through the pages of the book they’re stuck co-writing together was really just a fun almost tongue-in-cheek way to address everything that had been left unspoken between them, I liked all the little nods to the publishing industry, process, and tropes of the genre. Also, only one bed is a classic for a reason and it’s utilized fantastically here. The heat between Nick and Jess blazes while their moments of communication are tender and moving.
This is definitely one to be looking forward to during this upcoming holiday season. Thank you to NetGalley and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Such a clever premise this book had! A romance novel about two enemies to lovers romance writers who get their second chance through fake dating and writing a successful novel together…all set with the magic of Christmastime. I enjoyed the plot, the dynamics between Jess and Nick (I couldn’t NOT picture Nicholas Sparks) and the added elements of a good winter scene. There was some miscommunication that was a tad bit irritating for me, however the chemistry and eventual spice between the two main characters surely made up for it. I also enjoyed the support of Jess’ girl squad-I want them for my own!

Looking for the perfect holiday book? Then you want to check out Falon Ballard's All I Want Is You publishing this September.
Read this for:
- Holiday!
- Forced proximity
- Enemies to lovers
- Only one bed
- Second chance
- Workplace
I enjoyed this one so much! It had all the things you want in a cute holiday romance. Stuck at the inn in a snow store, not more rooms, forced to be with your ex, only one bed, and of course adding in they are both romance writers! Also the Jess and Nick names and nods to New Girl were so fun!
Jess and Nick are both romance writers and exes. Right when Nick got a big deal, he dumped Jessica and her career has still not taken of forcing her to still sling coffee at her second job. Jess is forced to present an award to Nick at their publisher's annual holiday party. Then a huge storm roles in, and with Jessica's room reservation never getting placed, Nick offers that she stay with him.
The two are forced together and the chemistry and love they shared years ago has not died. They find they both are in writing ruts but when they get to be around one another, the writing starts to flow. So why not write a book with your ex when one of you believes in HEAs and the other doesn't?
I had fun watching the two spar with one another and then eventually communicate like they needed to and tell one another the truth about their feelings and what happened in the past. The vibes for this one are one hot Christmas stuck with you ex!
THE EPILOGUE! How dare you Falon with the cutest ever ending with Nick's gesture!!
Thank you to Putnam for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

The cover got me. The story had me flying through the book's pages. Another entertaining read from Ballard. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Add this one to your holiday reads.

I really enjoy the writing in Falon Ballard’s books, so I was so excited to read a Christmas-themed book by her. The characters were well-written, and the chemistry was definitely there. Maybe it’s because I view Christmas through Hallmark-colored glasses, but j thought there was a bit too much spice.
Be sure to check it out when it’s released on September 24th. Thank you to @netgalley and @penguinbooks for the advanced copy!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.
Cute but not a lot of substance. I really did not like Nick at all, although I will say he redeemed himself at the very end. I thought he was pretty much a jerk and I couldn't figure out what Jess saw in him other than a great sex partner. There was absolutely no depth to either character. The reason for their break up 5 years ago was lame and she was too quick to forgive him. I did really enjoy his grand gesture, though, at the end, as improbable as it was getting it done on Christmas Eve. I don't think I would recommend this one but do check out this author's previous books.

A short and sweet holiday romance a la Hallmark with a nice dose of spice!
If Falon writes it, I’m going to love it. That is just a fact.
Nick And Jessica are filled with angst and I loved seeing the flashbacks to their past relationship. The idea of being snowed in at an inn on Christmas is literally part of my dreams.
While this story is short - less than 300 pages - there is no lack of tension or emotional punches. Nick and Jess navigate their unresolved feelings in a way that I really enjoyed and I wish I could read more of their story 🥹
Make sure you cozy up with a peppermint mocha and your favorite blanket while reading this one for maximum holiday vibes.

I have loved everything Ballard has written. Her take on a Christmas novel is no exception. The absolute first thing to jump off the page is the setting. Ballard’s writing had me in the cute little inn full of Christmas.
This is a second chance romance with two college sweethearts, Nick and Jess, who split for mostly unknown reasons. They are both romance writers and both get an offer from the same publisher and break up soon after. Years later, this comes to a head when Jess has to present an award to him before Christmas. And of course, the inn does not have her reservation and they get snowed in for a few days. Cue the one bed trope with some forced proximity on the side!
I loved Nick and Jess as well as the exposition that comes as we learn about their past. This is a super quick read with an engaging plot and great supporting characters. I adore a second chance romance and this fully delivers.

I FLEW through this book!! It was such a cute holiday read. It's light and fluffy with no huge mystery. Perfect to fill that need for coziness around Christmastime!
I was definitely rooting for these two from the start. Nick and Jess are literally the BEST characters. They had me laughing with their banter.
- 2nd chance romance
- maybe a little miscommunication... Nothing super annoying though
- CLOSE proximity
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this free copy of All I Want Is You in exchange for my honest review. My first Falon Ballard book will not be my last.

I ate this book up like candy! Such a fun Christmas in July read! And thanks so much to NetGalley for the advanced free copy! So, fair warning on this one--definitely quite a bit of spice in the second half of the book. But it can easily be skipped if a more closed-door reading experience is preferred.
I loved the banter in this book, the fact that the main characters are both writers, only one bed/forced proximity, and it's a second-chance romance. Perfect holiday read, in my opinion! I feel like I now need a physical copy for my bookshelf. That's how much I adored this book!

This was such a fantastic read. It had everything: Snowed-in, forced proximity, only one bed, second chance, yearning, bookish characters. A perfect blend of lighthearted moments, the steamiest steam, and heart-squeezing feelings.

Honestly, I've just got season tickets to Falon Ballard and I will devour everything she ever writes. There's just such comfort in knowing a book will bring me immense joy before I ever open the pages, and this cozy holiday read is no exception.
It's well-known that I love books about books, and Ballard delivers that here. This has second chance romance, enemies to reluctant coworkers to lovers, only one bed at the inn, and so many more tropes - while also managing to call out that these classic tropes are happening in a way that feels genuine and funny. This book remind's me of a holiday-themed Not in My Book (Katie Holt), sprinkled with second chances and a delightful amount of peppermint mochas.
The ending of this book had me full on SWOONING - one of the sweetest grand gesture/HEAs I've read in a long time. Everything about this book is like a cup of cocoa for the soul, and I'd consider it a holiday must read!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

4.25 out of 5. Fallon Ballard doing a Christmas book had me hitting the request button the moment I heard about it. And she does not disappoint. We have just the right level of predictable but nice. I kind of love the concept of falling in love writing a book - using writing to work through relationship problems is not only creative but actually brilliant - therapists should do this with their couples. The author calls the book short and sweet and it def is, a quick beautiful Christmas read that will have you in the right Christmas mood. One of my favorite parts was the the chemistry of the main characters during their question games, so well written. However I might have taken some offense when they say riding its a small world: on repeat is a form of torture. It is definitely not my type of torture, its one of my favorite places in the world.
A good question arises from here, does a romance have to have a HEA to be considered a romance? is that part of the genre?

Rival authors and ex-lovers, Jessica and Nick, are forced to share a room at a remote inn just before Christmas due to a snowstorm. Jessica, a romance writer, still harbors resentment towards Nick, who has found success writing love stories without happy endings. As they work together to overcome their writers' block, the tension between them reignites old feelings. Jessica begins to wonder if Nick might be exactly what she wants for Christmas after all.

This was probably a 3.5 ⭐️ book for me! Being a fan of Ballard, I knew I had to pick up her first holiday romance - and, boy, am I glad I did! This was such a fun, little enemies-to-lovers romance with just the right amount of banter, spice, and shenanigans!
I really loved that Nick and Jessica were true opposites in almost everything (their writing process, their love of the holidays, lack of faith in true love), but they still fit together so nicely! I am also loving this new trend of cynics writing romance novels/movies. It’s a lot of fun to see them flip tropes we know and love on their head!
If you’re looking for a short & sweet (but spicy) romance, then you should add this to your TBR!

I will read anything and everything Falon Ballard writes. This second chance holiday romance is absolutely adorable. The premise of two romance writers writing together their own romance and book, SWOON.
Ballard’s writing of this book reminding a lot of Lease on Love. It was effortlessly beautiful.

This was a cute Christmas read - in July - Christmas in July, if you will. Jessica and Nick are authors and exes who find themselves snowed in and writing a new romance novel together. It was a fun read, as it looks at why Nick and Jessica broke up, what's happened since, and of course, where they are now. Thanks to NetGalley for the look at this September 2024 release!

I really enjoyed this cute, Christmas romance! At times it was a bit too cheesy or corny for me, but I overall had a positive experience reading this. I thought the banter and tension was well-written and I absolutely loved that Nick was down bad for Jess. I thought the one bed/stranded at the hotel scenario worked well. This wasn't a five star read for me just because of how cheesy it was at times, but it was definitely a feel-good read and I immediately read another Falon Ballard book after finishing this one because I enjoyed her writing. Thanks so much for the ARC - I will definitely be recommending this one to my bookstagram network ahead of the holiday season!!

"I can't endure forced proximity with my ex for much longer. I am not cut out to be a romance heroine."
Falon Ballard is always an instant read for me, so when I was gifted 🎁 the opportunity through NetGalley for an ARC of All I want is you, I thought ok, Christmas in July!
This is a tale of two rival romance authors that are also ex's and it brought all the fun and holiday tropes.
🎄 One Bed
❤️Forced proximity
🎄 Second Chance
❤️Found Family
🎄Miscommunication
Jess is trying to continue her breakthrough as a romance author when she is asked to give a introduction speech for the romance author of the year at a holiday event for her publisher...that romance author is her ex Nick who funny enough, never writes happy endings.
What happens next are all the stories she and Nick mostly have created success from. Can these tropes not only help them through writers block but bring them back to understand why their love story ended to begin with?
Will Jess and Nick get All they Want for Christmas? You'll have to read to find out 😉
This fun romantic comedy will be a treat to read any time of year. Falon Ballard does it again 😍
