This third-outing of Maden's Oregon Files is more of the same of his last two. Good, but not great. When Jack Du Brul was writing the series, his books felt like adventures, with just a hint of technology. Like a good episode of Star Trek at sea. When Boyd Morrison took over, he slimmed the page length and rocketed up the speed. His books felt more like adventures, and I thought the series was all the better for it. Mike Maden's book have felt like a step down from the two. All the pieces are still there, but the things he tends to focus on weaken the series, in my opinion. His books feel more like Juan and the Corporation, instead of the Corporation. He focuses way too much on Juan. Granted, he's always been front and center, his books make him feel like Dirk Pitt, instead of just the head of a group. He also makes Juan feel like more of super-solider (à la Mitch Rapp). I thought Boyd did it best because his Corporation felt like more of a team, instead of just a group of background soldiers. I also feel like Mike Maden focuses too much on technology. His books feel bloated with jargon that no one outside the military or political science cares about. Cussler's books (back in the day) felt like adventures anyone could get into. Maden feels like he's only trying to appeal to his previous readers of military fiction. Like I said, the book is still good. It's still fun, but I just don't have as much fun as I did with the other authors. I hear so much about AI in real life, that sometimes it's a burden to read about it for fun. Also, I still don't understand Maden's hard-on for all things drones. Every book? But I guess you'll have to ask him about that.

The latest adventure in the long running Oregon Files series, finds the intrepid crew of the Oregon embroiled in yet another conspiracy of rogue arms merchants, involving the usual derring-do and wizardry fans have come to expect. I have to say that it is starting to feel somewhat formulaic in how the stories unwind. Not necessarily a bad thing as you know what you are getting, but it really doesn't always feel as fresh as it could. An easy read as usual.

Exciting from the beginning and non stop action. Quite unpredictable because of the many twists and turns of the story. Jaun and his team of ex government agents from all over the world, have been hired a megalomaniac arms dealer and weapons builder. Why do they have to stop them? Word is the Americas forward air fields in Guam are a possible target. A very well written book where I was at the edge of my seat and literally could not put it down.

The Oregon crew are hunting for an arms dealer but soon they have another mission.
This is a good addition to the series, plenty of suspense and adventure. There are a lot of characters to keep track of so pay attention. Thank you tonet galley for an advanced readers copy.

The Corporation is active again! Juan Cabrillo and his multi-talented crew are asked to check into arms that were abandoned in Afghanistan but seem to be showing up in militant and revolutionary groups all around the globe. Cabrillo goes undercover to try and locate where these stores of goods are being hidden and how they are being transported. He is beat up, kidnapped, and put on a pilotless automated plane filled with Humvees guns and ammunition. He manages to escape and dump the contents of the plane in the ocean and barely get out himself when the plane self-destructs. The Oregon crew locate and rescue him. They have a name for the arms dealer, the Vendor, Their search leads them on a perilous journey in their efforts to shut down and capture the Vendors operation. Nail-biting action, personal dangers, undermining plots and a vicious adversary all make this an exciting read. Mike Madden has a more extensive Knowledge of military weapons which adds more realistic action to many of the sequences. This is a very enjoyable read!!!

A new and exciting chapter in the Oregon Files saga. A little about Mike Maden, this is especially for those of you that haven’t had a chance to read some of his previous work. Mike has authored the successful “Drone” thriller series as well as the last three books in the Jack Ryan Jr Campus series and the last three Oregon Files series. He also has a PhD in Political Science.
Ghose Solider begins with a group of Nigerian soldiers that are ambushed and by jihadis with American arms. Langston Overholt tasks Juan Cabrillo and the Oregon crew to get to the bottom of this mystery. As they follow the mystery to it’s source they find that they are dealing with a secretive arms dealer known as the Vendor. Jaun goes undercover to get into the Vendor’s secret base and falls right into his biggest challenge yet in a tale that has everything you’d ever read about in the AI world. This is a true page turner and you won’t be sorry to pick this one up and get reading.

Juan and the team are up against some serious threats in this latest installment! The Vendor is a very dangerous adversary with a grudge of historical proportions! Dating back to WWII, he wants to complete the work of his grandfathers and father, his hatred so complete and encompassing he uses all avenues but doesn't see those he's using as people, just as tools. He mainly uses AI, and this tool he really makes scary! Unmanned planes, submarines, drones, you name it! And he tests it all in real time, with live ammo on living subjects. And this is the arena that Juan and crew must step into and put a stop to! Using everything at their disposal, putting the Oregon through her paces and in harm's way, they fight the hard fight. Is this what the world is coming to, man against machine?!? What a scary proposition put forth in this action packed thriller!
