A cute book for learning about senses and how they work for humans and animals. A good read aloud discussion book.
I loved the illustrations and learning about the wonderful senses of animals. You only really learn about the five senses, so it was super interesting to learn that animals have more and how heightened their senses are in the first place!
What a cool book. Kids can learn about their own senses through exploring how animals experience the world. They also learn what's unique about sensory perception in the animal kingdom.
The book is appealing but would've benefitted from some photographs. All the pictures are illustrations.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This pairs well with Animal Anatomy. It's less cumbersome, too, so may benefit reluctant or younger readers.
First things first - FINALLY a kids book that acknowledges equilibrium as our 6th sense; I'm looking forward to a new wave of humans I don't have to argue with that our vestibular system is important!
This books downfalls were (what to me felt like) run-on sentences that screw up the flow and an overuse of perenthesis (Yeah I know. Pot, meet kettle). Some brevity could be a game-changer.
Growing up I LOVED finding books that included DIY experiments, so I was really happy to see those included at the end of each chapter.
I'd recommend this book as an addional resource on the 6 senses but not as a go-to, catch all source for kids.
{I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book provided by the publisher, American Psychological Association, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.}
Sensational Animal Senses is a perfect addition to all elementary science libraries. This text is bound to be analyzed and continuously picked up. Kids love learning about animal sense, and in "Sensational Animal Senses" they will learn about insects and UV light, the visible spectrum. infrared radiation, heat senses and so MUCH MORE! This is an absolute gem.
This book was fascinating! It focused on how the 6 senses (I only ever learned there were 5) are used by animals in various ways. It was filled with different text features, interviews, experiments, etc. I loved how it connected different careers to senses. I can’t wait to purchase this for my middle school students.
I like how this book explore about six senses, such like vision, hearing, touch, taste, smell, and balance. This is a really comprehensive book not only learn about human but also non human, such like animal. Let's peek inside and feel the wonder of differences.
