An adorable book that reminds us that everyone needs one on one time with the people they love. The illustrations and rhyming text are engaging and delightful!
No Bunny Like You is a sweet little story about a bunny finding some one-on-one time with mama. The story shows fun childish imagination and play while expressing that parents need time alone. It brings a fun twist to the story to have the child plan a special alone time with mom. It is clever to have dad pulling mom out from under the babies early in the book and then to have mom pulling dad out from under the babies later in the book. This is a love filled book that would be a sweet snuggly story to share with a little one.
The pictures were adorable. I loved the color scheme, the cute bunnies, and the depiction of the activities they did.
The storyline is concerning. One child wants special time with mom, which is normal and appropriate. But it felt like the story was setting up the expectation that mom can do everything the child wants when the child wants it, while ignoring everyone else in the family, and that's just not realistic.
Also, the main character's name is Bubby. Major turn-off for me.
I was given access to an early copy of the book for my honest review, and I wouldn't even check this out from the library, let alone buy it.
I thought that this was a really sweet and cute story.
The story was well written and easy to follow, it had a nice flow to it and I loved the time that the little bunny got to spend with it's mummy - my daughter is an only child but we do have special days out without my husband and call them girly trips so we could relate to the book really well too. We can only really imagine what it must be like for when there are a lot of kids in the family and they all want to spend time with the mum or dad.
The illustrations were really lovely and in keeping with the story.
It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!
Thank you, Tommy Nelson, for the ARC.
This book depicts a very interesting story on how moms can plan play dates for their kids when there are many kids in the family. I like the idea and the illustration is really cute.
The chaos in this book is real!
A sweet little story with cutesy illustrations depicting a bunny needing some alone time with his mama and them going on a fun mother son adventure.
This is a book for my wife to read to my boy because he likes bunny so much. He can imitate bunny hopping from one spot to another spot. No Bunny Like You, is really beautiful story for children.
A really lovely children’s book and one I’ll enjoy rereading to my daughter as she grows up. Looking at the relationship between mum and child, and exploring lots of fun ideas to spend quality time together.
‘No Bunny Like You’ by Kristi Valiant is an adorable book, but I have a wee concern about the message it sends.
Plot: ★★★☆☆
The plot is adorable, no doubt about that. It’s a lovely book, but I worry that it promotes expecting more from your parents than they are able to give, especially when you have siblings. It's important to balance love and attention among all children, and this story might unintentionally send a different message.
Character: ★★★☆☆
The character is cute but might not be the best role model for children. The story feels a bit too needy and expectant. Children should understand that their parents love them and their siblings equally, not that they should be the centre of their parent's world, which is how this book tends to come across.
Illustrations: ★★★★☆
The illustrations are absolutely adorable. They add a lot of charm and cuteness to the story, making it visually delightful.
Engagement: ★★★★☆
It's quite an engaging read. Children are sure to be hooked by the cute characters and the sweet story.
Readability: ★★★★☆
The readability and read-aloud factor are great. The story flows well and is easy to follow, making it a pleasant read for parents and children alike.
Enjoyment: ★★★☆☆
My personal enjoyment was rather lacking due to the concerns mentioned above. However, I’m certain children would greatly enjoy the book, especially for its cute and engaging elements.
‘No Bunny Like You’ by Kristi Valiant is an adorable book with some great elements, but it has a few concerns regarding its message about family dynamics. While the plot and character could be better balanced, the adorable illustrations and engaging storytelling are sure to captivate young readers. It’s a sweet read, but it’s important for parents to discuss the story's message with their children to ensure a healthy understanding of family love and attention.
This is a beautiful children’s book that will touch the hearts of mom and her son. No Bunny Like You has a fabulous story to tell, and the illustrations fit it perfectly. It was a cute story but not one of my favorite childrens book.
Thank you NetGalley and Kristi Valiant for the ARC of No Bunny Like You,
This is my personal review.
This is a short and sweet book about mother-child time, which I think is a great lesson to teach kids - it’s important to carve out time for the things you love most in life. It also highlights the importance that parents continue to date one another and keep their relationship happy and healthy, which is a great thing for kids to witness. Children learn what kids of relationships they should want and pursue based largely on what they witness within the home. Plus, it’s nice to teach a child patience in that “tonight is date night with dad, and tomorrow you and I can go do something fun together!” Overall a great little story!
A very sweet book about a bunny with lots of siblings who wants to spend some one on time with his mom. The illustrations are lovely, I loved the colour palette, and the story is heartwarming
4 Stars ✨
Thanks to Netgalley for this advanced e-book copy of No Bunny Like You, in exchange for an honest review.
No Bunny Like You is a sweet book about a little bunny who loves to spend time playing with his mom. He has other siblings, so he’s always trying to get mommy on his own for some quality time. One day, Dad wants to take mommy on a date and little bunny doesn’t want her to go. He’s sad until he gets an idea, he tells dad he wants to plan a date for just him and mommy.
The idea of this book was great. Sometimes, with multiple children- it’s hard to balance out that alone time. So moral of the story- it’s important for moms, every now and then, to set aside a special time to be with each child one on one. It helps them feel loved and appreciated. I thought it was neat that not only is it a message to the child, but also the parent.
This was a sweet story to read with my son. My five year old is a big mama’s boy, so I could definitely relate to parts of this story. The illustrations were sweet and whimsical. I loved the muted colors that were used.
This book is SO cute! I loved the words, the pictures, the characters. It was just darling. My kids asked to read this book over and over again.
No Bunny Like You is a sweet book about the bond between a mom and her son, Bubby. Bubby wants to spend more time with his mom, but it is hard to do in the busy Bunny household with all his siblings. Then Bubby has an idea! The rhyming is fun, and the illustrations are cute.

Overall, a really cute and heartwarming idea at its core, it was just executed in an odd way.
I'll start with the drawings: I loved them! The shading and colors were beautiful and gave the book a dreamy and sweet vibe, which was true to the story.
Now, the story itself: I'll admit it was freaking cute, just a little weird for me. The first thing was there felt like there was a lot that was skipped in the middle of the book, on page 5. It's supposed to be a time warp, but it comes off as more of a jolt forward. The next and final thing that I wanted to touch on was: Why is Bubby so, so obsessed with his mother? It's great that Bubby cares for his mother and wants to spend time with her, but I would change the phrasing from a "date" to something else. And it doesn't really feel like there is a moral to the story. I would add a moral such as Bubby learning to spend time with people other than his mother. The author could even add depth to this by saying something like, "And this didn't mean that Bubby loved his mom any less."
Overall, really cute book, just could use a little editing.
A sweet little story about a bunny who just wants some one-on-one time with his mom (not easy to do when your parents procreate like bunnies, I imagine). Honestly, I imagine many parents reading this will relate to the parents' struggle to juggle, & the resolution is cute.
