I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
You're Still My Favourite is a fun and reassuring picture book for children about two mischievous squirrel sisters who worry that their mum won't love them anymore when they do something they're not supposed to such as gey in trouble at school, break a rule or get dirty after bathtime. Mother squirrel reassures them that no matter what they do good or otherwise, she will always love them, and they'll always be her favourite.
The illustrations in this book are just adorable and so fun to view as you read through, too. The pet worm 'Bub' was my favourite! This is a perfect book for bedtime to share with a child to reassure them and comfort them.
This is a really cute book to help kids understand the unconditional love of parents. The bunny sisters disobey their parents in order to "save" a pet, and that starts a conversation about whether they are still mama's favorite little bunnies (ei, does she still love them). They go on to ask their mama if she will still love them in a variety of situations--if they make a mess, if they are grumpy, if they break something, etc. And mama responds that they will always be her favorite, that she will always love them. The pictures are cute and engaging. The antics the sisters wonder about and illustrated in bright colors and with cute facial expressions. The message is relevant to tiny and not so tiny children.
I had access to an early copy in exchange for my honest review, and I would definitely read this book to my kids.
„You‘re Still My Favourite“ is an adorable picture book.
The artwork style is pretty - I do think that I usually prefer more minimalistic styles for this and a factor that I have to criticise is that the main text tends to be a tad small. This might be an issue when going through this book with younger readers.
YSMF does teach about acceptance which is something that is quite important!
You’re Still My Favorite is a sweet story about the unconditional love of a mother squirrel for her little girl squirrels. The little girls think of all the reasons that they wonder if they are their mother’s favorite and every time she reassures them of her love for them. The illustrations are adorable. The addition of their pet worm adds extra interest to the illustrations and the storyline. This would be a good story to snuggle up and read before nap time.
I requested a copy of this book for review. The thoughts expressed here are only my own.
3.5
A little wordy but overall super cute - loved the illustrations and an adorable sentiment about loving your kiddos no matter what. Love that!
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!
I thought that this story was really cute and my daughter really enjoyed it!
The book is well written and it is easy to follow - she didn't need help with any of the words and was delighted that she could read it from start to finish in one night too.
The story has some good messages as well which I liked as a parent.
It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!

Sweet picture book, for young boys and girls. A family of squirrels, living in the biggest tree on Oakdale Lane, learn some important life lessons. Sisters, Betsy and Bernie are shown unconditional love from their mother. She assures them, no matter what the rambunctious girls get into, they will always be her favorite squirrels.
Endearing and cute book. The illustrations of the squirrels are so well done and cute.
I would give this as a gift, or for myself. Recommended.
Thanks to #Netgalley for sending this e-book ARC for review.

Such a cute book about the love shared by a family of squirrels. A pleasure to read with little ones but very reassuring for older folks too.
My son's review:
I liked it, the kids were funny. I liked the drawings too!
My review:
I loved this and agree with the mom! This was cute and was adorable about Bub just sleeping. We enjoyed reading this while we snuggled before bed!
I received this ARC from NetGalley and Tommy Nelson to read/review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book.
Much needed book for the kids and the parents as well!
We adults tend to not show or say how much we care about our younger ones. We get strict with them and punish them when they make mistakes. However, this is where kids stop sharing their smallest fears and lose trust in whom they should trust the most.
The conversations in this book need to be read and reread more everyday as a reminder to the kids and ourselves that we need to show and tell it’s okay to make mistakes and we will always love and care for them no matter what.
Love the illustrations as well!
Thank you, Tommy Nelson, for the ARC.
This was such a cute book! Betty and Bernie are two little squirrel girls who get in a lot of trouble. Now they wonder if their mom will forgive them. Momma reassures them that they will always be her favorite, no matter what they do. This story perfectly shows the strong bond between a mother and her children. A great book for children 4 years and up, perfect gift for mother's day!
Wonderfully written and illustrated.
5 sweet ⭐
In this beautiful book we learn the story of two squirrel sisters, their parents and their pet.
The two sisters, Bettsy and Bernie, had only one rule: no going out after bath time.
But for a very strong reason, they have broken the rules.
What will be the consequences of this infraction? What will their parents say?
🐿️Characters: loving representation of a family of squirrels
🐿️Illustrations: sweet and loving representations of home and daily chores, that warm the heart.
🐿️Language: simple but meaningful messages, suitable for children between 4 and 8 years old.
🐿️Reading Experience: Representation of the act-consequence. Learning through unconditional love. Clarification of the possibility of mistakes, but that no matter how big the mistake, parents will always be a safe place and a source of love and forgiveness.
"...and even when you break important rules, you're still my favorite. You're always my favorite."
"But even when things get hard, you're still my favorite."
SUCH a good and unique message to this book. I think it does a good job explaining how rules and boundaries exist because a parent loves their child and not as a punishment. The writing at times did feel a little dense and repetitive. The book was mainly just examples of things the squirrels might do wrong, which might get boring to younger kids. I also feel like the font choice and color made some of the text difficult to read. This will likely look different on a print copy compared to the digital download I had, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
I want a stuffed animal version of these squirrels immediately. They are so darn cute! And I loved this message that no matter what, we as parents love our kids and they will always be our favorite people. It's also super helpful to help kids grasp that because they are our favorite people, we are going to give them consequences and help them learn lessons to help them grow up into the adults God wants them to be. Such a sweet book with a great message.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher
You’re still my favourite was an adorable fun read with wonderful illustrations. I really enjoy a children’s book with a message and this story is a fun way of letting your children learn of unconditional love.
A momma squirrel and her two favorite kids. All the ways she tells and shows them how they are her favorite. So cute and sweet.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.
A heartwarming tale of a mother's (and father's) unconditional love, You're Still My Favorite had great messaging. Unfortunately, I felt the text was a little clunky and could confuse toddlers. I did enjoy all the ways the mom and the daughters discussed different scenarios and how the other's message of love never changed. I think this would make a sound library read and would be helpful to those trying to remind their children that even when they are disappointed, their love remains.
A wonderful story for young children to understand that if their parents do not improve, they still love themselves.
The illustrations are beautiful and very interesting, following the plot of the story.
Thanks to Net Gallay for this opportunity to enjoy all the words and pictures of this children's book
this book is so sweet and reassuring.
It really tackles a child's fear of not being loved, and the reader learns that no amount of faults or mistakes can make your caregiver or parent love you any less. love is unconditional - what a beautiful message! the illustrations are so fun and lively, perfect for anxious kids.
Oh no, I have made a mistake, will my mom ever forgive me? This is told by my boy repeatedly and I think this book explains well about how love mom to their children, unconditionally, and forever you're still my favorite.
