Jesus Calling Brave Bible Prayers is a powerful read for young ones by Sarah Young! Jesus Calling Brave Bible Prayers profiles Brave People in the Bible like Daniel and Deborah. I love the Bible People profiled. I think it would be cool to use Jesus Calling Brave Bible Prayers as a starter for a series of lessons during a Christian Education setting or to utilize during Family devotion time, or just to read for the kids in your life. I highly recommend Jesus Calling Brave Bible Prayers by Sarah Young! Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.
The perfect accompaniment for your little one (5years+) if you've begun to teach them small Bible stories and want to incorporate Bible prayers into their daily routine.
Colourfully illustrated, the book has short Bible stories of events from Deborah, David, Moses, Hannah, Solomon, Daniel, Paul and Jesus' lives, accompanied by a child- friendly version of their prayers. These prayers tie up with sample prayers children can use, based on the Bible based prayers of these illuminaries.
Each prayer deals with a facet of our relationship with God or an aspect of his character. For example, David's prayer is based on Ps 23 or God's care of him.
It's a child friendly way to teach your little ones to begin praying the Bible, while also learning about God's character and making the stories more relatable.
I was given an e-ARC for my perusal but am not required to leave a review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
I had to read this book 2-3 times before I could fully articulate how I felt about it. Initially, I went into it expecting something geared toward a 10+ year-old audience, so I wasn’t immediately thrilled. I don’t think the book’s description set my expectations quite right. However, after revisiting it with a better understanding of the intended age group, I came to appreciate it as a sweet, thoughtful collection of prayers for younger children.
Jesus Calling Brave Bible Prayers introduces about ten key prayers from the Bible, offering simple explanations of the biblical context and the purpose behind each prayer. This helps provide children with a framework for approaching God that goes beyond mere requests and demands, encouraging more meaningful conversations with Him.
Each story is briefly summarized to give kids a sense of the historical and thematic background, making the Bible more accessible. The illustrations are bright and engaging, and the book covers both the Old and New Testaments. While I ultimately found myself wanting a bit more depth, I think this would be a wonderful choice for families with young children, offering a gentle way to nurture an open, conversational relationship with God.
What could be more helpful to a child than to give them examples of simple prayers right from the Bible? This book has specific examples from Scripture of people who prayed to God and some simplified words of what they prayed. I appreciate that the actual scripture passage is listed on each page so parents can use it to help teach their children about that Bible person and how their prayer was answered. I appreciate the simple little prayer statement on each page to truly help reinforce the teaching and truths about prayer and our good God. I highly recommend this book for any young child learning about prayer.
With wonderful illustrations, each two page spread in this book gives a short summary of a bible story and a simple sentence prayer for children to pray to help them respond to the story. I think it's lovely.
I read this with my 5 year old son and it was wonderful. We love the Jesus Calling series and read it every night. We will definitely purchase this when it comes out. I love how it has a prayer for every character as well as a short prayer for the child.
This is a wonderful book when starting to structure your littles or try to teach them how to pray and what was prayed for in the Bible, and overall how prayer works. My daughter (4 years old) loved the visuals and the prayers were simple enough for her to repeat and try for herself before I asked her what/who she wanted to pray for today.
Oh this book was the perfect book for kids at bedtime. My four kids absolutely cherished this story with my husband and I! We loved how kid friendly it was.
I like heroes story and I want to know what they pray to be brave and to be known like heroes. Sarah Young beautifuly tells us this stories from Bible about a prayer to be a brave warrior.
This is a very good book for young children to learn to pray about different situations. This book covers a variety of stories and prayers. This would be appropriate for ages 3-6.
