Iā€™m always fascinated when I discover a Historical moment I was unaware of before reading, and this was such a great audiobook listen, featuring the life of queer theater star, Eva Le Gallienne. It was raw and emotional, and I had no idea the impact she had in the theatre community before reading.

*many thanks to Hachette, librofm, and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review.

The Queen of Fourteenth Street by Barrie Kreinik and narrated by Barrie Kreinik; Orlagh Cassidy; Imani Jade Powers; Elisabeth Rodgers; James Fouhey is short and sweet but so much fun! Authentic to the era, a real joy of an audiobook

I usually avoid audiobooks with a big cast as it is more of a production than someone telling you a story, but in this case, it is perfect! Each one of the narrators got the memo and met the era head-on. Fun, authentic, delightful

Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Audio | Hachette Original, Barry Kreinik and narrators for this wonderful ALC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

This was like listening to an old radio show. The story was quick and snappy and the different narrators popped in and out for their parts making the entire production feel alive and all encompassing. I knew nothing of this story and I appreciate how much work the author did into the history of Eva Le Galliene. As a theater lover and occasional actor this just makes me want to learn more.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my advance copy of this audiobook

"The Queen of Fourteenth Street" by Barrie Kreinik is an absolute gem, and the audiobook version brings it to life in the most captivating way. Kreinik's storytelling is rich with vibrant characters, compelling drama, and a beautifully woven narrative that transports you straight to the heart of Fourteenth Street.

The audiobook, narrated by the author herself, is an enchanting experience. Kreinik's performance as well as all the performers in this multicast production is flawless, capturing the essence of each character with distinct voices and emotional depth. Her narration adds an extra layer of immersion, making it feel as if you're right there with the characters, experiencing their joys and struggles firsthand.

The story itself is a delightful blend of romance, ambition, and the pursuit of dreams. ,Kreinik masterfully depicts the trials and triumphs of her protagonist, the revolutionary Eva Le Gallienne, keeping listeners hooked from start to finish.
"The Queen of Fourteenth Street" is a testament to Kreinik's talent as both a writer and narrator. This audiobook is a must-listen for anyone who loves a well-told story filled with heart, passion, and authenticity. Highly recommended!

Such great narration on this it kept me engaged with the story and had me laughing a few times at how well Barrie did on this one. It was a short story but had a lot of meaning behind it and the LGBTQIA+ community.

A fantastic audiobook/audioplay. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially being a theatre actress myself.
I found it very relatable in the struggles of the theatre world and found this portrayed very well in the story.
I found the voice actors in this production absolutely brilliant and felt like they really told the story.
My only criticism is that it was too short!
I'm sure this will be very popular amongst those who work in theatre and love an audiobook in their down time.
