Maybe it just isn't my jam but this was a very odd book about Jimmy and his elbow. The anthropomorphized elbow is a little beyond what I can get on board with. That said, I know that zany and silly is a perfect fit for some and they will likely love this!
This book is odd. It’s like a boy with no friends who’s using his imagination to keep himself active. His best friend is his elbow, who sometimes comes to life and flies off his body. He also has an American toy and a toy he says his American (but is not) and it’s a very big deal. For whatever reason the character reminds me of Trump with his long red tie in the weird hair. It’s his insistence on America American America. This book is just all over the place. It was written by a kid wasting time in class, which is exactly why young readers will probably like it.
This book is made for silly 7 year-olds. I can see this one being a popular title in our library with grade 2-4 students looking for a nonsensical adventure book.
Text is great, illustrations are simple and the graphic novel format will make this a desirable title for transitional readers. The author knows what he’s doing and he’s selling his work to a very specific demographic.
Of course we will buy this for our school library.
Definitely a silly book for serious people. I wasn’t sure at first, but I kept going with it. It was alright. Kind of like being on drugs, but alright nonetheless.
Jimmy is a kid with a magic elbow. One day he bumps it and it comes to life. With a personality of it's own his elbow goes on adventures with Jimmy and his world is changed. This was a fun amusing read that was entirely bizarre and just the right amount of silly for kids of all ages to enjoy.
