First thing first - I am a Maryland girl. Marylanders take their crab very seriously. When I saw The Crab Pot Cookbook, I had to heck it out. I have never been to the restaurant, but the book gave a wonderful history of the restaurant as well as the waters and sea life that surround the area. The photos are engaging and provide a wonderful sense of place.
The recipes are well written and provide home cooks with all they need to execute the dishes with confidence. The preparations are different than those we would do in in the Chesapeake Bay area, but that is what makes this this book great - learning new things and having the opportunity to share it with friends.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
The Crab Pot Cookbook held a wealth of information on the fishing industry which I wasn’t expecting. The recipes look delicious although many are not crab related the book is quite diverse. I both loved it and at the same time it wasn’t what I thought it would be. If your looking fir done great recipes revolving around a large variety of seafood along will an in-depth history of the fish and crab industry this book is for you if you just want a great seafood cookbook this one may be a bit disappointing because it’s not simply a cookbook. I still recommend it for the knowledge pictures and information it’s worth a read.
The Crab Pot Cookbook was filled with a variety of delicious sounding recipes and a vast amount of information about the western coast fishing and crabbing industry and the different types of fish used in the seafood recipes included. The photos were stunning! I'm looking forward to trying out the Crab Mac and Cheese recipe!!!

We tried several of the recipes. The descriptions were thorough, helpful and clear. My thanks to NetGalley for this eARC.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this new cookbook. However, it is as much a history book and a reference book about Seattle and its seafood as it is about recipes. The photos are gorgeous and made me quite hungry for a big plate of seafood! Seattle and the Pacific Northwest is on my bucket list for travel and I hope to try many of the delicious-sounding dishes in this book. I grew up in southeast Louisiana and was raised on really great seafood so many of these dishes (and the specific varieties of seafood) were new to me. I look forward to tasting them all one day soon! Thank you again!
The Crab 🦀 Pot Cookbook by The Griffith Family. The Authors give clear instructions for making crabs in a steam pot. The information was interesting and the pictures beautiful.

It was very interesting. I thought the guides in the beginning were helpful especially the fish buying guide. There were so many great recipes in this book with beautiful pictures throughout. There were plenty of helpful tips throughout. The recipes were well writing and easy to follow. I would absolutely recommend this book.

Lots of informative information about the iconic restaurant with loads of pictures and easy to follow recipes featuring all the fresh seafood in the area. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.
When I see the word 'Crab' I always think of my father as he was a big lover of crabs. So I just had to check this book out and see what it had to offer. I wasn't disappointed and I loved it. Having never been to The Crab Pot restaurant I can't compare to anything but what I can say if the restaurant is anything like the great recipes in this book I might have to go check it out.
But until then I will experiment and make some of the mouth watering recipes included in this book and remember my father every time I make something form this book. Tasty recipes, great photos, love the history and the recipes are quite easy to follow and make so I must go to the seafood market, get some ingredients and get cooking.
Thank you NetGalley and Flashpoint for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Cookbooks have recently become a fun thing to browse at. Now that I’m inching out of baby phase and have a little more time for that part of life. And my daughter absolutely loves to help cook. So with summer around the corner, I wrote down some fun ideas our family can try out. It was very fun to recieve some advance copies of these cookbooks. 🥗🍔🌮🍤🍪🧁🧀🥚🍇🥯
Gathering Boards by Sarah Tuthill was making my mouth water. I love a good charcuterie board, and this book was chalked full of ideas, how to lay the board out, different seasonal boards. I want this book for a coffee table book because the pictures were so vibrant and beautiful. It made me want to text all my girl pals and plan a patio night. The Crab Pot Cookbook by The Griffin Family….this was hands down a beautiful and such a fun family effort cookbook! I LOVE seafood, and tell my husband that we must retire or visit frequent the east coast so I can have my lobster. I live in the Midwest, but let me tell you, I am bringing this cookbook out for some fun summer nights! I love the explanations, the creative new things I’ve never heard of, and it was so beautifully put together. It made me want to meet this family for how fun it was. A Couples Cookbook by Sonja Overhiser and Alex Overhiser was the most precious couples cookbook I’ve read. I received many for my wedding gifts, but this tops them all. I loved the introduction full of their story, and the pictures of them throughout the book. The meals looked so fun, and easy, and it was so beautifully put together. My husband and I always say it will be fun to make more than our five staple kids dinners eventually. @acouplecooks
The Crab Pot is a "must do" for me whenever I visit Seattle! Nothing is more exciting than that bowl of delicious and fresh seafood being poured until the table. I have never had a bad experience at The Crab Pot. So, imagine my excitement when I saw that there was a cookbook featuring the best recipes from the restaurant featuring fresh PNW seafood.
The cookbook does have some fantastic recipes and describes how to create the seafood boils they are famous for. You will also find crab cakes, to chowder, to desserts and sauces. It is also full of sections providing additional information on the area, the seafood etc. etc. For this reason, is it a traditional cookbook? No. Is it a fantastic souvenir featuring recipes to try at home? Absolutely!
As a Seattle native who has fond memories of going to the Crab Pot with my grandparents when I was little, I adored this cookbook. From the crab pot crab dip and the world-famous crab pot mac and cheese to the pier 57 smoked salmon fettuccine, this book feels like a big PNW hug. Not only does the book provide a mouth-watering seafood extravaganza, it also provides helpful information on how to shell crab, the different types of crab and salmon in Washington, and a history of the seafood experience in Seattle. The pictures also capture the essence the Seattle culinary experience. If this cookbook doesn't want to make you move to Seattle, I don't know what will. Get your bibs and crab claw crackers ready, readers - you're in for a tasty treat!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the Griffith Family for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for The Crab Pot Cookbook coming out October 15, 2024. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Seafood is my favorite kind of food! I’m obsessed with crab legs, mussels, lobster, fish etc. I love to make my own seafood dishes. So I was really excited to receive this book. I haven’t been to Seattle, but it was interesting to learn about the seafood industry out there. The Crab Pot restaurant sounds like an amazing place to go. I really enjoyed all of the pictures and history. There was a lot of fascinating information. The recipes were really fun and seem easy to follow. I really liked the tips on how to prepare fresh seafood. I loved it.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cooking seafood!
A souvenir from a memorable Seattle vacation or a piece of nostalgia for those who visited some time ago and are long for a taste of the Emerald city's seafood, The Crab Pot Cookbook helps readers recreate the flavors of the iconic restaurant in their kitchen. The book is broken down into chapters for "Introduction", "The Seafeast", "Starters", "Chowders, Sides, and Salads", "Entrees", "Garnishes", and "Desserts". The introduction has a bit of city history and the history of the restaurant as well as some basics like buying fish and description of pantry ingredients. The seafeast chapter had me dreaming of a spring or summer backyard celebration. Most recipes are not complex with few steps, and use fish (salmon, halibut) and shellfish (crab, shrimp) that should be available at grocery and fishmongers in many areas even if they aren't exactly just off the boat. The vibrant photos throughout the book of the city, the fish and shellfish, the restaurant, and, of course, the mouthwatering dishes make the book a lovely keepsake of a Seattle trip.
I received advanced access to this book thru NetGalley (for which I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher, Flashpoint ) for an honest review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
I love this restaurant and I was excited to see they were coming out with a cookbook. I loved the inclusion of the history of the restaurant at the beginning of the book. The photos were also a great addition. The fresh fish buying guide was helpful too. I don’t know a lot about buying fish, so I thought it was great.
The cookbook is fully of so many mouth watering recipes. It’s broken down into different sections based on the seafood included. It also includes a little bit of back information for each seafood at the start of the chapter. I’m especially excited to make the crab pot crab dip. It looks and sounds so good.
This book is full of so much helpful information including a section about garnishing. I can’t wait to get cooking! I definitely recommend checking this book out if you like seafood!
