I absolutely loved the first book but this one unfortunately wasn’t for me. I wanted to like it so much!
I wasn’t a big fan of Anywhere but I decided to go into Anyone with an open mind and I really wanted to like this but I just think that this authors writing and this book and story is just not for me. DNF’d at 50%
Thank you for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.
I loved it! Couldn't put it down and I'm normally not even into this genre of books. I just love the great work that Sarah Sprintz is doing, how inclusive she is writing and how aware of potential triggers she is.
Anyone by Sarah Sprinz was a fantastic follow up to Anywhere - the first book in the Dunbridge Academy Series.
In this story we follow Sinclair and Tori through their friendships, relationships, conflicts and resolutions.
It was great being able to see the story from another perspective with the dual POV between the characters, and each one’s characteristics and personalities shining through.
Readers should be aware that like the first book, Anyone contains trigger warnings consisting of toxic relationships, eating disorders, domestic violence, substance abuse, and addiction.
The whole premise of the story follows Tori and Sinclair through their trials and tribulations preparing for the end of year play - Romeo and Juliet, and how the show brings the characters together in a certain circumstance.
Ultimately, Anyone was a great read, but in my opinion just slightly too long. There were certain scenes that dragged out a little, as well as including detail that really wasn’t necessary. There are also some spicy scenes in this book too - but they’re pretty low key.
Thank you to Quercus Publicity for giving me the opportunity to read books 1&2 in this series.
I love this authors writing, the story flows well and I like how she depicts heavier topics while also tackling generic coming of age moments.
Tori and Charlie are best friends who like each other but are too scared to make that change in their dynamic. They both try to pretend there’s nothing between them but they can’t keep lying to themselves.
There is abuse, substance abuse and toxic relationships during this story so check your trigger warnings for the full list. The author does very well tactfully including this in the story and working through how it affects the characters.
Back to Dunbridge Academy I go!!
After reading, and loving, Emma and Henry's book, I just had to get my hands on the next instalment in this brilliant series. Luckily, I adored Charles and Tori's book every bit as much. It had the same angst and emotion as the first book, and I just didn't want to stop reading. Can't believe I have to wait now for the final book!!
Great high school romance, which really felt realistic in its depiction of teenage love, lust and friendship. I feel like Anyone is really well written (and translated) and really suits both a YA and slightly older adult audience.
Summary: Tori's best friend Charles, her secret true love, stars in the school play, complicating her feelings as she navigates writing the script and dating someone else.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quercus for an eARC of this book all thoughts are my own.
This was a really enjoyable high school/college read with characters that I really adored and filled the pages with such a heartfelt romance.
I don't usually enjoy high school/college romances, but Sarah Sprinz and her Dunbridge Academy is different and I loved this book! Although this friends-to-lovers story is aimed at the YA audience, Sarah's writing is engaging and enjoyable for all ages. Even action scenes were written so well that I I felt felt my adrenaline increasing along with the characters! In addition to being extremely well written, the plot development was great and characters development deep and believable. I found myself staying up way too late to read, just one more chapter, and just one more chapter...
Mr Acevedo's advice was 👌 and made me wonder why I couldn't have had teachers like that?! This installment of the Dunbridge Academcy, in particular, would be a great story to illustrate to young people the consequences of actions. It also sets up things perfectly for the next installment in the series- I can't wait!!
My favourite quotes:
“Drunks and small children always tell the truth” - Sooooo true!
"There were more reasons to be with her, than not to be with her” 🥹
“True friends support you unconditionally in the things you like doing”
Touching romance set in a charming German town. The story follows two characters dealing with their pasts who find comfort and growth in each other. Sprinz’s characters are relatable and well-developed, making their journeys of healing feel real.
I found myself really rooting for the main characters and feeling their highs and lows. The book has a warm and thoughtful mood, with a good mix of sad and happy moments that kept me engaged. Sprinz’s writing vividly brings the setting and characters to life. If you enjoy heartfelt romances, this book is definitely worth picking up.
I love this book. There’s something undeniably sexy about a friends to lovers romance that gets me every time and Sprinz didn’t disappoint with her un-put-down-able and deliciously angsty story.
This was a new author to me… I wasn’t aware that it was the second book in a series of three, but it didn’t matter as it was great as a stand-alone story.
I devoured this book… I loved the plot and the characters… the setting was fantastic and I can’t wait for the next instalment.
I related to Tori in so many ways and Sinclair… OMG… I fell in love with him! As for Val, well I hope he gets what’s coming to him!!!
I received this as an ARC via netgalley for an honest review… Thank-You for the chance to read a great story!
Full review to come.
