Being in my 20s, I don’t think I was quite the target audience for Ageless Aging, but I still found it an insightful and well-researched read. Maddy Dychtwald highlights the reality that while women live longer than men, they often don’t age well, spending their later years dealing with preventable health issues. The book offers a holistic, science-backed plan to help women take control of their aging process and thrive.

I appreciated the emphasis on how much longevity is within our control—something that isn’t often talked about in depth. Dychtwald presents complex research in a way that’s accessible, and while some of the advice feels geared toward an older audience, a lot of the principles (like prioritizing health, mindset, and resilience) are useful at any age. Even though I’m not the primary audience, I still walked away with valuable insights that I can apply now to set myself up for a healthier future.

As a woman of a certain age, I took copious notes listening to this title. I need to purchase it in print and read it again. It was highly informative with practical advice. I enjoyed learning more about the science behind the suggestions as well.

Sometimes I really enjoy nonfiction books, but… I prefer to listen to them via audiobook as opposed to read old-school style. I tend to pay more attention and retain more, and that’s exactly what happened with this book.

It was super educational and informative, and while I definitely learned more about my body and the aging process, the author failed to share the same information for BIPOC.

(Thank you, Mayo Clinic Press and NetGalley, for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.)

This is a handy guide summarizing the latest research and theories for improving women's health and, most importantly, ensuring that our increasing lifespan is lived in good health and sound mind. The author is not a physician but has written about medicine, science, and health for much of her life. It is well-researched and well-presented.

The advice ranges from practical suggestions that you can add to your daily routine now to diagnostic tests that are unlikely to be covered by your insurance. It is encouraging that more research is being done to understand the differences in how women respond to medications and stress, such as how the warning signs of a heart attack in women are not the same as for men.

While books like these tend to become dated quickly as new research emerges, it is a great foundational starting point if you are approaching or of a certain age and want to ensure you take the best steps forward for optimal health. A quiz at the beginning enables you to assess your current state of health so you can prioritize where you wish to focus.

My thanks to the author, the publisher, and #NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to an advance copy in exchange for this honest review.

I was really looking forward to listening to Maddy Dychtwald and Kate Hanley’s, AGELESS AGING. Unfortunately, I missed my window to download and was unable to listen to the audiobook.

I got a paper copy from the library, so this review won’t speak to the audio.

I appreciated that this book covered a wide variety of topics, all geared towards women. Some information was not new, but everything was well researched and presented in an engaging and informative manner.

This book is for older women, but I did find some good tips. This book made me realize how important preventative care is. There were whole chapters dedicated to bone care, hormones, and even weath. Exercise and eating right was also discussed. Even though I'm in my early 40s, these are all things I should be thinking about before retirement age. I like that she used real life examples of why taking care of yourself should be your #1 priority.
