The Irish Goodbye audiobook is an absolute perfect way to spend a sunny summer afternoon, listening to in the car with the windows rolled down. Their romance gives an air of Hallmark vibes, with a great blend of comedy and emotional moments.

As someone that has lost her father, I was able to easily connect with Cordelia and her struggles to feel connected to the world around her. But watching as Niall became her anchor to not only Ireland, but also herself, warmed my little heart over and over again!

My only complaint was some of the voices that were used for the make actor, especially the female ones. If I was to read this book again, I would definitely use the physical copy.

As soon I finished reading, I immediately suggested it to two of my friends that are going to Ireland together, to inspire them to find their own Irish hotties!

This was fun! A forced promote romance will all the hallmark movie feels! It was a bit cringey and predictable in places but a solid fun read!

A Hallmark-esque cozy romance about a woman traveling to Ireland in hopes that it can help her fix her life. The highlights of the book were the characters surrounding the two mains, their families and the small Irish village they're in. This was especially enjoyable on audio, the man reading did an excellent job of bringing to life the characters on the village and it was such a delight hearing the accents. While not remarkable in memory, reading the book was plenty enjoyable. A nice getaway.

This is a fun forced proximity romance set on the small island of Inishmore. Cordelia is renting a cottage of the island hoping to escape her grief and fall in love with photography again but as soon as she steps off the ferry someone bangs into her and breaks her camera. Niall is back home from Dublin where he was opening his own pub, but after finding his girlfriend and his business partner getting busy on the kitchen floor of the pub he heads back home to work in his fathers pub on Inishmore to get his feet back under him.

The cast of characters is hilarious, even the dog is fantastic and a character in his own right. The narration is spectacular, the 3rd act break up broke my heart and the ending left me wanting more which is always a good thing! If this book doesn't make you fall in love with Ireland then I don't know what will.

Charming story about life on small Irish island: its inhabitants, pubs, loss love and ambition, regaining trust in order to love again. Audio had expert narrator.

The male narrator had a cringey woman's voice. A predictable yet steamy Hallmark read. 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Steamy. Caution to sensitive readers.

Tropes:
•Enemies to Lovers
•Vacation flings
•Multiple POVs

Top marks for setting and cozy Hallmark-esque vibes. This story is a sweet romance that delivers on a swoon-worthy love interest and protagonist that feels like a real person. I loved the setting and the supporting characters most of all. Each person in the quaint island community captured a piece of my heart. My only complaint is the cliche third-act conflict.

The Irish Goodbye was the PERFECT audiobook to listen to while preparing for my trip it Ireland in just a few months. This was so much more than a rom-com, yes it wa s absolutely hilarious, but also so emotional at times.

Cordelia is a photographer who’s been feeling lost ever since the loss of her father. Once she sees an ad for a summer job in Ireland, she immediately takes the opportunity. When she literally bumps into the local grump and breaks her camera, she would never imagine that sparks will fly and on this journey she might find herself again. Niall is heartbroken, and jaded, and oh so grumpy. Underneath all of that though is one hell of a swoooony (and sweet) man. I loved listening to their story unfold, and I especially loved the supporting characters! This is a slow burn, enemies to lovers, small town romance, and I am here for it.

**I received an advanced listener's copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

What sounds from the description like a cute romance novel has a bit of a deeper message to it. It is still a good romance novel, with an enemy-to-lover theme, and I consider this a great beach read. But, both Cordelia and Niall are facing grief and coping (or not coping) with it--Cordelia as she comes to terms with her father's death and Niall as he lets go of a broken engagement. There were times I struggled with Cordelia's reactions to situations, though one can see Cordelia grow during the novel.

As for the voice narration, I thought the female voice actress was phenomenal. She seemed to have voice control over each character in the novel.

An enjoyable listen!

The Irish Goodbye is an adorable, cosy read that transports you to the gorgeous island of Inishmore and tells the tale of Niall, a broken hearted young irishman and Cordelia, an American city girl. The two character's backgrounds couldn't be any more different, but that doesn't stop them embarking on a whirlwind romance.

I loved this story so much! Wonderful side characters, a glorious setting and a guaranteed happy ending - you just can't go wrong.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy of this audiobook in exchange for a review.

The audiobook version of Amy Ewing's The Irish Goodbye brings FMC Cordelia James's journey of self-discovery to life with exceptional narration by Keval Shah and June DeBorahae.

Through their performances, listeners are transported to the rugged beauty of Inishmore island, a small Irish town. Both narrators skillfully capture the essence of the characters, with Shah's portrayal of Niall O’Connor's gruff exterior and wounded heart contrasting beautifully against DeBorahae's depiction of Cordelia's vulnerability and resilience.

The best part about any small-town romance is the quirky side characters. Roísín was hilarious and I feel like I want to be her when I grow up. Just the ultimate sassy broad with a heart of gold.

The chemistry between the narrators mirrors the evolving relationship between Cordelia and Niall, enhancing the tension and eventual warmth that develops between the characters. The build may have been slow, but when the spice hits there is major heat between these two. I didn’t expect it and loved that surprise!

As the story unfolds, the narrators' ability to convey the subtle shifts in emotion and tone keep listeners engaged and invested. I recommend The Irish Goodbye for any lovers of slow-burn romance set against the enchanting and backdrop of the Emerald Isle.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamworks Media and Amy Ewing for an early listening copy. These are my honest thoughts.

My first read from Amy Ewing and it was, dare I say, possibly TOO good?? Considering my bags are now packed for Inishmore (not actually, but a girl can dream 😅). This book is perfect for lovers of: forced proximity, small *Irish* town charm and grumpy x sunshine tropes! A little note: I really loved the side characters in this book and thought they brought a lot of vibrancy to the main story. A lot of humor and even more heart were woven into this book. I thought the love story between Niall & Cordelia felt so natural. They just slowly wormed their way into each other's lives so seamlessly until they realized that the other person wasn't just a friend, but their "person."

Also, there was a pup named Pocket. How stinkin’ cute is that??

I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook version of this book (as narrated Keval Shah & June DeBorahae) and it was honestly such a great listening experience! I loved both narrators as Niall & Cordelia, respectively (plus all the side characters, too!) I felt like I knew them as characters so well already from Amy's writing, but then their personalities really shown through in the audiobook. I would highly recommend this book be listened too if you're an audiobook lover! Duet audiobooks are a passion of mine and this one was just a great, fun time! Keval's voice for Roisin was particularly inspired!

I've seen it said before: If you liked the movie Leap Year, this is 1000% the summer read for you! Just trust me, you're going to be obsessed with this one.

The Irish Goodbye by Amy Ewing, narrated by June DeBorahae and Keval Shah, is a charming enemies-to-lovers romance set in picturesque Ireland. Cordelia, an American photographer grieving her father's death, clashes with Niall, a grumpy local chef nursing a broken heart. Their initial antagonism quickly turns into a sweet and steamy romance.
The Irish setting is beautifully described, and the supporting characters, especially the feisty grandmother Róisín, add depth and humor to the story. While the chemistry between Cordelia and Niall felt rushed at times, their relationship eventually becomes believable and heartwarming.
The narration by June DeBorahae and Keval Shah enhances the story, with excellent accents and character portrayals. Despite a somewhat intense third-act breakup, the ending is satisfying and well-earned.
Overall, The Irish Goodbye is an enjoyable listen for fans of travel, family dynamics, and heartfelt romance. I look forward to reading more from Amy Ewing!

I was thrilled to get this audiobook, but honestly it was so cheesy and just didn’t have much depth to the plot or the characters. It was funny though!

There are two things that initially drew me to The Irish Goodbye: its setting in Ireland (a country I love!), and that the main character is overcoming the loss of her father (sadly, I’ve suffered the same loss). That this book is also an enemies-to-lovers romance had me sold.

When Cordelia first arrives on Inishmore island, she’s actively grieving her dad’s death, but is looking to reclaim her passion for photography while in Ireland for the summer. But when a brusque Irish man accidentally knocks her camera out of her hand, breaking it, Cordelia sees red. This sets off an oddly antagonistic relationship between Cordelia and Niall.

While I do love an enemies-to-lovers arc, the first part of The Irish Goodbye wasn’t completely convincing for me. Why was Cordelia, a 29-year-old woman, acting so immature about the broken camera? Yes, it was a gift from her late dad, but Niall clearly didn’t mean to break it, he apologized for it, and he offered to pay for its repair. Maybe politely move on at that point? Cordelia continued to come across as immature for a while, but luckily that eventually faded away.

For his part, Niall was also in a bad place at the start: His fiancée had cheated on him with their business partner shortly before they were opening their own Dublin pub… the one for which Niall was the chef and had crafted the whole menu. His career and love life both blew up at once, sending him back home to Inishmore, broken-hearted and feeling like a failure. Sure, he’s grumpy at this point, but deservedly so.

Despite their respective traumas, Cordelia and Niall eventually start to become friends, and it quickly blossoms into a bit more. Once they’re on good terms with each other, I actually really enjoyed seeing them together. They make for a cute couple, and their romance is more believable than they were as enemies.

Surrounding their relationship is the wonderful Irish setting. I loved getting to know some of the local hotspots and getting a small feel for the culture. I also really enjoyed some of the side characters, especially the feisty grandmother, Róisín. She swears, drinks whisky, and never hides how she really feels. She was my favorite character by far! Another thing that helped round out The Irish Goodbye is both main characters’ relationships with their respective parents. Cordelia and her mom have a lot they need to say to each other, as do Niall and his dad. I liked seeing these family dynamics play out.

Warning: There is a pretty intense third-act breakup, and although I felt the premise of it was a tad forced, I do like how it ultimately plays out. It feels real and has the space needed to earn the HEA.

Audiobook
June DeBorahae and Keval Shah narrate Cordelia and Niall’s third-person sections, respectively. Both do a good job of giving the characters personality and consistency, and they each do well in applying the right American and Irish accents as needed.

Final Thoughts
The Irish Goodbye is a heartfelt, emotional, and steamy romance for anyone who likes travel, Ireland, family dynamics, and important career arcs. Overall I enjoyed this book and would be happy to read more from Amy Ewing.

I’m a fan of Amy Ewing from Jewell days so when I saw this pop up I was intrigued. Rightfully so it seems as I absolutely adored this book. It was so fun to travel to Ireland and the characters were hilarious! I loved it. The narrators really brought the feel of the characters and I’m not sure anyone else could have done them justice. I do so hope Amy continues this series because Colin definitely needs his own story! 😉
I’ve already recommended to my book club and I am going to have to buy a physical copy for my shelf!
5 stars for me!

I could not get into this. I usually love a cute travel romance, but there was something that didn't click for me.
