Crazy adopted Irish grandma

This was a cute rom com! I enjoyed connected with Cordelia's story and found Niall to be swoony - it's always those broody ones.
There were so many laugh out loud moments. Roisin was SO FUNNY!
It is hard for me to connect with 3rd person POV, especially in audiobook format - I wish there was a way to know this before requesting an ARC on NetGalley.
Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 - Loved it!
Spice & Blush-o-Meter: Blush - okay for public consumption but is heating up
[2-3 on-page scenes with mild language]
Angst level: Moderate level AKA Veronica Mars & Gilmore girls
[some emotional turmoil with moments of increased anxiety and stress]
Narration rating: Loved it: narrators did a great job and helped bring the story to life. The characters felt real.

Niall and Cordelia
I adored The Irish Goodbye! I found it to be very reminiscent of The Highland Fling by Meghan Quinn which is my favourite MQ book!
This is a hate to lovers romance, and the way Cordelia and Niall hate one another in the beginning is so good! When Cordelia comes across the opportunity to escape her life and hopefully her grief on a small island in Ireland, she is hoping to find her love for photography again.
Niall has returned home to his small town and is dealing with the shame of his dream falling through thanks to his business partner and girlfriend ruining his opportunities.
I appreciated that we got to dive into the family dynamics of both Cordelia and Niall's families. They each have uniquely strained relationships with their parents and I love that we had the opportunity to learn more about how these relationships affected and moulded the characters.
The side characters in this charming small town truly brought the setting to life. They were so fun to read about.
I loved that while navigating her grief, Cordelia found her love for photography and telling stories through her photos with all the wonderful people in the adorable small town.
Keval Shah and June DeBorahae both delivered on their performances. They breathed life into the characters and I loved listening to their accents!
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC.

Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator was great and the writing is terrific! This was a really fun, dual POV, enemies to lovers, small Irish island vacation romance between a New York City photographer and a chef. Story of loss, cheating and new love. This is the first thing I have read from Amy Ewing and am wanting more! Also want to go to Ireland and find myself an Irish lad.

The vibes and setting of The Irish Goodbye are worth a recommendation all on their own. I listened to this audiobook over a couple days of cold rain and wind, cozied up in a warm cabin. It is a great choice for a lighthearted romance on a cozy day of hiding away from the rain.
While the vibes were excellent and the side characters were endearing and lovable, I did have a few issues with the romance itself. One of the tropes I have trouble connecting with is insta-love. Insta-lust, yea, I can vibe with that. Insta-love? That one I struggle with. I just don't find it all that relatable and can be tip into the realm of cringy or even DNF. The insta-love found here wasn't cringy, but it did feel like a bit more of a plot device than a natural progression of the relationship.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced listener copy of this audiobook. My opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

After the death of her father, Cordelia James takes a job on the island of inishmore to gain inspiration for her photography career that has lost its momentum.
The cast of characters are truly lovable and make this book such a cozy and charming read.
Some of the moments felt forced and the ending felt a bit rushed and not totally cohesive. There were some loose ends/plot holes (like her camera never being fixed and the book about herbal remedies mentioned twice and never again) and where they end up doesn’t totally make sense.
Enjoyed the dual perspectives but it felt like all of the tropes were competing, but overall it was still a fun read.

🥰Enjoyment: Welp. This is not going to be one of those sunshiny, everything is awesome reviews. I debated not reviewing at all but I have pretty strong feelings on one aspect and that makes it really hard for me not to talk about it. So, if you are involved with the production of this audiobook and have feelings that might not be able to handle my true opinion, I implore you not to continue reading.
📖 🎧 Writing &/or Audio Style: First off its 3rd person, seriously not the worst thing ever, just not my favorite, my brain struggles with following who’s mind I’m inside of, but really that would be a non event in terms of “do I recommend this book”. Female narrator? Solid Job, no complaints from me. The male narrator however should not be allowed to voice female characters (you know what, lets add queer male characters to that list as well). That was not an enjoyable earhole experience. While I did stick it out, the folks I shared a snippet with all said it would have been an immediate DNF for me.
If I could impact any impact in this space it would be to help those responsible for casting/selecting narrators that their choices matter. I think most would agree that Duet or Full Cast narration is ideal, but where this is not an option for the production, sometimes (IMO) having a strong female narrator playing all roles is the superior choice to a male narrator who cannot voice female characters.
👥 Characters & Relationships: The cast of characters in this book were great. I especially loved the background cast. The leads were okay but the extended family really elevated this story.
⁉️Plot, Intrigue & Logic: Ultimately this plot dragged for me, I did like the plot points, just getting from point a to b was a slow drive for me.
🏞️Atmosphere & Setting: Set on an Aran Island in Ireland the atmosphere was emmaculate.
🚨 For Reader Awareness: Pre-novel off page cheating and death of a parent.
📣Recommended for fans of: Destination set romcoms
🎭Mood Reader Classification: I do not recommend this audio in any circumstance. That said as a cute palate cleanser, especially if you enjoy books set in UK or Euro countries.

"She looked at Niall, and she was home"
I loved this romance. The narrators did a great job, but this also would have been a good book to cozy up and read.

Amazing audiobook, both the narrators June DeBorahae and Keval Shaw did this audiobbok justice!
The story of Cordelia, who is looking for new meaning for her life after her father dies and she loses passion for her photography, takes a house sitting job in Inishmore and runs afoul of a recently jilted Irish chef.
Great love story with soul searching and reconnecting with their families, making the ending perfectly happy ever after.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media LLC for the early recording of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This book is not for me, although I’m sure others will enjoy it. Too much telling and not enough showing. I enjoyed the narration.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.

Such a delightful romance!
I listened to the audio for this one and both narrators did a great job. Especially loved the Irish narrator that did the MMCs POVs though both were exceptional.
Cordelia is a photographer that has done big things but after the death of her father finds herself drifting and purposeless and instead of going to the Caribbean for vacation, goes to the beautiful island of Inishmore in Ireland. (I'm only partial to this place because I got married on Inishmore!)
She goes there to find herself and her art and to get her lift on track for the summer and run smack into our MMC Niall, who knocks her camera out of her hands and breaks it and from there starts their enemies to lovers story.
I just loved the found family aspect of this book. So many side characters are so kind and welcoming to Cordelia that she fits right into their little island life. And as she becomes a part of their community she and Niall gets to know each other amongst their endless bickering.
It's a light hearted and sweet book and I really enjoyed it. I only took off a star because the ending was a tad rushed and I think they ended up in the wrong location.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ALC and the chance to review!

Oh my goodness this was adorable. It was cute and warm and gave off so many cozy vibes. I just couldn’t get enough of this adorable book. Cordelia & Niall were easily likable characters- and the side characters were amazing . I adored this book

A Hallmark movie in a book. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advance readers copy of this audiobook.

Thank you Netgalley and dreamscape media for the free ALC. My opinions are being left voluntarily. I really loved this book I loved the characters the sloooooooooooow burn but when we get there the spice heats all the way uppp. I am not sure if this is a debut or if the author has a backlist but I will be searching for kore and more.. loved and highly recommend. This will be a favorite read in May for sure.
4.5/5☆

Hello, to The Irish Goodbye! This book was lots of fun, the setting was beautiful the characters were great. And most importantly the romance was adorable!
The Audio version of this book was a dream! The Irish accents were great and on certain characters extremely hot. I loved the Dual POV of this story and the Dual Narration just made this book all the more compelling. The plot wasn’t anything unique but it was well written and really enjoyable, I found myself flying through this listen the biggest grin on my face. Both narrators were excellent.
I loved this story, the Ireland setting made me feel so at home, the saying and one liners from the characters had me feeling like I was at a family Christmas with my Irish nan . The author did a wonderful job of encapsulating that Irish culture and bringing it to life in this book.
Anyone else gushing over the grass ring? Just me? Okay cool… haha. This book was super sweet and I loved that they both had passions that they shared with each other. And respected about each other.
I did wish we got a bit more build up in their emotional connection which is the reason this one didn’t reach higher than a 4 star for me. However it was a really enjoyable romance and a super fun audiobook experience. Would definitely recommend the audiobook if you like me love an Irishman.

This is such a heartwarming and cozy romance comedy book. I love that both the protagonists had their part of past which they both had to over and this one vacation was exactly what they needed to overcome their own pasts respectively or atleast heal from the scars of past.
One trying to overcome from parent's loss while other from the loss of dream n love.
I had a great time reading this.

This is such a cozy summer romance, perfect to read while on vacation. I love the audiobook and thought the narrators did a fantastic job at bringing the characters to life and switching up the accents.
I really liked the banter and the love between Cordelia and Niall, but I wanted more from the third act. It was a little too predictable, when I was expecting more communication and maturity from both these characters.
💚 Vacation in Ireland
💚 Grumpy x sunshine
💚 Chef x photographer
💚 Summer relationship
💚 Dislike to lovers

Thank you to the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I feel like this was a little rushed at the end. For such a slow build, the ending came crashing at lightning speed.
That aside, this was a great story that highlighted rural Irish villages, and I fell in love with the characters. I thought Cordelia and Niall were a fun enemies to lovers slow burn with a satisfying ending. I think this is an excellent wanderlust read, as you’ll want to book that plane ticket the second you put the book down!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Amy Ewing for this advanced copy of The Irish Goodbye on audiobook.
The Irish Goodbye is the story of two young adults who are struggling with heartbreak. Cordelia lost her father, and Niall lost the future he planned. They literally bump into each other on the island of Inishmore in Ireland.
It’s a sweet standard romcom, featuring quirky side characters. I loved Cordelia’s journey into her grief. I felt Niall could have been fleshed out a bit more, but overall it’s a cute sweet story.
I will say the narrator for Niall wasn’t my favorite. His voices for other characters were pretty off putting. Besides that though the narration was fine.
Overall: 3.5 Stars rounded up to 4

The Irish Goodbye is a sweet (if entirely predictable) romance about two people rediscovering their personal passions. I enjoyed Cordelia and Niall’s story (which is also surprisingly spicy), but this isn’t really a stand-out book. A lot of conflicts feel like they exist for two pages before getting resolved, which can be kind of tedious.
