Book two continues this amusing manga about a Japanese style pub, which sits between two worlds, 21st Century Japan and a medieval European city called Eiteriach. The medieval customers are wowed by this strange and tasty food and ‘whats on tap’.

We are not told how the pub arrived in this medieval city or what the customers think about this strange pub. All we know is that the food tastes magical and this magic seeps into the lives of those people who visit this pub.

It is a charming series and a good introduction to Japanese food.

Sometimes food manga stories can be quite boring but this was is very engaging and the artwork is great. The reader is drawn in and is left wanting to visit the pub themselves and taste the food that is offered.

Great second installment. I've enjoyed both of these so far. Not the best thing I've ever read, but I really enjoy it!

Like always though, read it and decide for yourself

A very cute sequel! Still love the atmosphere and all the food that makes me hungry! I also liked the introduction of a new character working at the Izakaya. I think Shinobu so far is my favorite though.

I'm going to say the obvious first: if you enjoyed the first volume, you're gonna love this one! Volume two has all the cozy slice-of-life magical realism food-porn vibes, but we get more worldbuilding than in volume one, venturing outside of Nobu into the vaguely medieval European town (and other places). The stories are fun (I laughed out loud at the squid story arc - that punchline!), and we revisit customers from volume one plus we meet new characters to add to the ensemble cast. This series is just such a comfort marshmallow for your brain, a great read when you're stuck in the morbs. Looking forward to volume three!

A lovely second edition to such an amazing, low stakes manga. With incredible art, loveable characters, and a simple and elegant story make for a great breather read.

Great continuation from the first book. I like that they are incorporating new characters and situations. I like that this one restaurant exists in so many different places and connects so many people. My only complaint is that after I read these, I'M STARVING!!!! Everything looks so good!

Want to thank Netgalley and publishers for giving me the chance to read this book.

If you like food type mangas with not a big story line this is the one for you. I like these as little palate cleansers. It is a quick read as well.

I want to go visit this place! If you like Food Wars and how they have recipes then this book is for you.

Just as cute as the first one.
I absolutely love that each chapter is it's own little story, it allows easy picking up in between tasks for a little reading time.
And just like the first, it made me so hungry haha

In a foreign world remarkably similar to our own there is a small pub. Crossing the threshold feels like crossing into another world…which is a correct assumption. Waitress Shinobu and Chief serve up delicious modern-day Japanese food and drink to a diverse cast of characters.

In the second installation of the series, readers learn more about the relationship between Shinobu and Chief while taking in an orphan girl seeking refuge in the closed Nobu shop. There is no shortage of delicious-looking food and heartwarming interactions between characters. A magical world begins to unfold as the series continues to publish new volumes.

My only complaint, I read this book on an empty stomach! Highly recommend having snacks on hand.

This is a great continuation of the series, and shows promising plot development. There’s great, lighthearted worldbuilding beyond the first volume. However, the series starts to feel like a worship of how wonderful Japanese cuisine is. I understand this is part of the genre, but I hope it goes outside the box in further volumes.

I really enjoyed this. The first volume was great, but I liked this one even more. I am so excited to see where this is going to go.

The way this manga is written it feels like short stories, but they aren't really because it's daily life at the izakaya. However, because of that you get to see new characters all the time and characters from previous volumes/stories pop in and out or are referenced constantly. I think it keeps the story fresh and there is always a new adventure. This volume we were introduced to a new character, Effa, and I'm sure she'll be around for a while since she is a new person working at the izakaya. I love that this manga is about food, it usually makes me hungry when I read stories that have food included and this was no different. The way the food is incorporated reminds me a lot of Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits. The food is always pictured and described in a way that if you wanted to do a little research you could probably cook it yourself. I also enjoy that we get a little bit of German culture along with Japanese culture, whether it be through the word choice they use or just the food in general.

Thanks to #netgalley for an e-copy of #OtherWorldlyIzakayaNobuVolume2 to read and review.

This picked up in plot a bit more from the first volume which I expected but I'm very happy about it. This is such a cute story and it was kind of shocking to see the difference between the two worlds! I adore the art style of this manga so much, it's very well detailed and everything (even the food) looks beautiful and thought out. I'll for sure continue reading this series on my own time!

Any Japanese foodies would probably like this book. Bonus appeal if said foodie readers like Japanese culture, anime, the "otherworlder/foreigner" genre. I find this to be a classic in the "Japanese Food Lovers/Cooking" fiction genre. So I'm glad it got adapted to English for more people to enjoy.

As an avid fan of the light novels, the Japanese text manga, and to some extent, the anime adaptation, I was excited to see how the official English manga adaptation turned out. This overall wholesome manga focuses on the Japanese food (yum!; *Note: no "fan service" shots like "Food Wars"), the otherworld's country citizens would love said food, the comradery of the Japanese staff + said variety of charming citizens, and sometimes a brief plot conflict.

The technical side (clean up, text/font, etc) are very good and adapt English onomatopoeia's well. Some name/term translations might be a bit unusual for people. I would say the main example is how the characters order the alcoholic drink as "What's On Tap" in English, but to me, the original Japanese term/name, "Toriaezu," would read a bit smoother, but maybe that's just original Japanese reading bias. That's very minor to me. Overall, I'm happy with the English text translations. I find it easy to understand for English only readers.

Thank you again to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for allowing me to read the English adaptation early. I look forward to seeing more of the volumes adapted to English.

Awesome concept continues in the second volume of this food-centric cozy manga series. If you are looking for plot this story isn't for you, but if you love food, lovable characters, and just a nice good time then Nobu is for you. I love the new characters they introduced and can't wait to see where it goes.

If you have read the first volume of "Otherworldly Izakaya Nobu", or read the books, or watched the live action adaptation, you more or less know what you are going to find here: not much of a plot, lots of food, cute situations and characters, culture shock and funny moments when the characters of the parallel world eat Japanese food... Now that some characters have been introduced the world feels more alive, and more things are starting to happen. If you have just read the first volume of the manga, it is more of the same. So if you liked it... If you have read the novels there is nothing new here, but it is cuter with the drawings.

If you have not read anything of this goodly foodly world, I would recommend starting with the first volume to get to know the characters and some background that will help understand this second volume.

Regarding the art, it is cute, as I said, but there are some vignettes that seem to have been poorly drawn. Maybe it is just me, that I am too fussy, but it could have been a little bit better (some of Shinobu's faces are... not very good).

I love everything about this. I need to read more. It’s so cute. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy! The food is really inspiring. The story is adorable.

The story here is part two of the other manga I read and reviewed, and it’s very much like the first part.

It’s a cute fantasy tale that intertwines cultures! The art is nice, the art makes up for the text being somewhat very straightforward and curt. It’s kind of difficult to pinpoint the age of the target audience for this book though. My guess is that it’s suitable for manga lovers of any age, even middle graders.

**ARC provided by NetGalley for honest review**

Otherworldly Izakaya Nobu Volume 2 by Natsuya Semikawa, Virginia Nitouhei was a great follow-up to the first volume with some new characters and lots more food envy from my side of the page. If you liked the previous volume, you'll like this one.
