This is a great book if you're looking for a beach read or something light! Amy and Flynn are headed to a wedding and an external force leads to them switching bodies. It's told through both character's POVs- which could get confusing with the whole switching bodies thing. But you get used to it. The switch leads to some humorous situations (of course) but also forces them to confront much needed personal issues and reflect on their relationship as a couple. All of the characters were likable and most importantly - realistic.. This is a quirky, quick read that should be on everyone's reading list! Looking forward to reading more from Cesca Major. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was a fan of Major’s debut novel, Maybe Next Time, and I was excited to read her latest. Although magical realism is at the center of this book, I found the characters to be realistically flawed (in a good way!). The ending felt a bit abrupt, but I appreciated that it was somewhat nontraditional. Fans of Major’s debut novel, Josie Silver, Sophie Cousens, and Rebecca Serle will love this one!

Cesca is the queen of high concept, heart-rending love stories. Readers are going to fall in love with this rom com story with a twist. It’s a phenomenal premise, delivered with the perfect blending of humour and heartbreak, I loved every minute

I feel like I should love a book about people struck by lightning and switching bodies so much more. However, this one was almost a DNF.

I found the characters going back-and-forth confusing, the characters is a little flat, and it was just plain not very cute for me.

I loved the premise of this book and this cover was everything for me, especially since I read Major's last novel and loved it! Unfortunately, it almost immediately fell flat for me. It was a bit confusing to keep going back and forth between POVs (as they were actually in the other person's body). I had a hard time caring about the Amy and Flynn and rooting for them. I'll read future works by Cesca Major and while I'm confident some readers will like this one, it just wasn't for me. Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow Publishing for my E-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

IF I WERE YOU by Cesca Major has such a fun premise, and I was entertained as Flynn and Amy attempted to navigate the wedding weekend together, as each other. There's loads of emotional depth and very visual scenes in this story, and it raises the question: what would you think about your misunderstood partner if you lived a weekend in their life?

If I Were You follows Amy and Flynn- a couple that has been dating for 2 years and are on their way to the wedding weekend of Amy's sister, Laura and Flynn's friend, Jay.. Told in both characters POV and throughout different times in their life, we see how a relationship that had a great start has turned into a relationship where neither of them truly knows the other. A freak lightning strike later and they somehow have switched bodies. With a packed wedding schedule full of activities, speeches, dances, and full of people from both of their lives- their relationship will be put to the ultimate test.

I had a hard time putting down this book! Even though some parts of it truly annoyed me because I hate the Murphy's Law trope of anything that can go wrong, will go wrong- I was so entertained. I felt that both Amy and Flynn were relatable. I enjoyed hearing Flynn appreciate how honest and vulnerable the women were with one another and how if he had deeper friendships growing up, he may have been a more open and honest person. I think Cesca Major was maybe a little unfair to male friendships in this story as none of them seemed to ever speak about anything besides girls, drinking, and sports- and I could totally be off-base but I would imagine that at least one of Flynn's friendships would involve a little bit of vulnerability and feeling. Overall, a great and quick read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity read this arc.

This was a DNF for me. It had a darkness I didn’t like and just wasn’t the plot I was expecting from the description.

The idea for this book is really cool (picture Freaky Friday but for a couple), and on top of the switch add in secrets, lies, oh and THE wedding of the season.

At first the flip flopping (post switch) was a bit hard to follow (and then I got the hang of it), but it was a fun & light read.

Quirky romantic read, great for a beach read, or a book club too.
