While working on healing from CSA, I've discovered other form of childhood trauma I've experience. This guided journal has helped me gain insight and skills to heal from ACEs and work to create healthier coping mechanisms.
If you have childhood trauma, I recommend you purchase this guided journal!

The journal focuses is a wonderful resource for those who have experienced trauma or those who work with people who have. There are activities that even a seasoned practitioner could incorporate into their practice. The journal is well thought out, well organized and instruction are clear.
I received a digital Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Netgalley and New Harbinger Publications.
It looked like a good book for managed PTSD and related trauma experiences. It's not something I would use personally I think I thought it was going to be something that it wasn't but that is my fault. Seems like a really good tool for therapists to use with clients
Recovery is an ongoing process. Even though I started processing my early experiences decades ago, I'm a new person every time I work back through my childhood. I've spoken with various therapists and written out my life in different ways, and I'm a different person than when I started.
This workbook is an excellent resource for me to make more progress. By taking a personal inventory of where I am and what my personal relationships are like, it's easier to continue to make progress. The questions in this book are a fantastic guide. I highly recommend this for anyone seeking emotional recovery from the past. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
It's hard to review a guided journal because what one gets out of it is deeply personal. Reviewing it as a therapist, I would say that this is a gentle introduction to ACEs and self-reflection that could be beneficial to those who like things like journal prompts, guided imagery, somatic therapy, and art therapy. Despite dealing with heavy topics, it has an approachable and kind tone.
I am finding this book very useful, it talks a lot of sense and more than once there has been a lightbulb moment of understanding in my head. I shall continue to work through it but would already thoroughly recommend this to anyone wanting to work through past trauma.
As we come to learn more about ACE's, it is eye-opening when the boxes check. This guided journal is an important companion to anyone wanting to learn and put in the work. Fantastic!
Donna Jackson Nakazawa's guided journal is a powerful tool for clients dealing with trauma. It leverages the transformative power of journaling to help rewire the brain and create new, healthier thought patterns. The Neural Re-Narrating program encourages individuals to acknowledge their past while staying present, reducing anxiety and alleviating depression through structured writing exercises.
This journal is easy to follow and promotes self-discovery in a safe, anonymous space. It fosters mental well-being by helping clients release worry and trauma, ultimately leading to inner calm and resilience. I highly recommend this resource for anyone seeking to heal from trauma and build a more positive, empowered life narrative.
This is definitely a great resource for those trying to repair childhood trauma. The advice and exercises in this definitely can hit you deep, there were times where I felt so vulnerable and open and emotional when I least expected it. It definitely helped me get a better understanding on some of the things I've struggled with and how they related back to my childhood. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something to help them in this.
The journal focuses on the effects of trauma and emphasizes strategies for healing through mindfulness techniques and empowering one’s ability to respond to stressors. It encourages individuals to acknowledge events from their past and take steps toward healing. It is a valuable tool to help reshape thinking and alleviate anxiety symptoms through exercises that foster mental well-being. It is a first step for individuals who want to experience self-discovery and the power of thinking patterns in a safe space and with anonymity. The guide is an excellent holistic resource to promote positivity, self-compassion, and hope. I hope to incorporate certain activities with students in the future.

I loved this book. It was exactly what I needed.
It deserves so much more than five stars.
I love books that explain things and then provide exercises for us to do.
I really feel good after completing the book, because even though it is a process, throughout the book I was able to understand a lot about myself and my childhood.
I recommend it to anyone, as we all go through something when we were little that we now carry into our adult lives.
This is a book to help ourselves, and finally give our little self a hug.
And the book is as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside.
I loved it. And if you didn't understand, I totally recommend the book. We all need it.
As someone who scored very high on the ACE questionnaire finding this journal became extremely helpful in my healing journey.
I always had a passion for writing and journaling but had an abusive ex partner ruin that for me when he would read my journals and use them against me. This created a fear in fear and I put journaling on the back burner so to speak.
Once I was away from him, I was able to embark back on my healing journey and back into journaling my thoughts, emotions and all I had been through.
It was an extremely helpful component in the process of re-wiring my brain and working through the ptsd, anxiety and depression that I had been struggling with for most of my life.
Highly recommend for anyone dealing with developmental trauma, therapists for helping their clients and even supportive partners/families who want to help their loved ones navigate childhood trauma.
Informative and easy to follow! This was a super concise approach with lots of detail and explanations that helped the reader to make sense of patterns from childhood and how to change these behaviors and beliefs in adulthood.
I think this book is a really great start into looking into adverse childhood experiences. I particularly like the breakdown of each section and the explanation of where the theory and questionnaires come from. This is particularly important when consideration support for mental health and trauma, as practitioners we want to ensure everything is evidence based (I have experience of providing CBT and supporting those with trauma, so much of this is familiar)
The language used is easily accessible enough to most, and I appreciate the opportunities to include other ways to explore your feelings, such as drawing or self-soothing exercises.
