My second Daniel Hurst book! Kept me entertained throughout the entire book and was a fast read. Lots of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Had me questioning what parts were truth and what parts were lies! I can see myself picking up more Daniel Hurst books in my future.

The ending of the book did seem to go a little fast, but still a book I’d recommend to others if they’re looking for a thriller!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

This story follows two nurses that show up for an assignment in the northern suburbs of a Chicago. The my are to take care of a wealthy man’s wife who has memory loss. As the care engine so do the questions. What is going on in this house? The twists are very well thought out and it is definitely an unpredictable one. Especially the twist at the end. I found the book to start slow but then it definitely kept my interest in the end.

I must say, "The Perfect Nurse" had me guessing the whole time. It follows Darcy and Pippa who are nurses that work in the private sector, caring for people in their homes. Loved the twist at the end and look forward to the second book of this series. Another great book by, Daniel Hurst, where I could not tell who was lying and who was telling the truth. If you are into suspense, Hurst and this book are for you. He never disappoints. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Rating: 4.5 stars!

OBSESSED. The plot twist had me screaming. The chapters are so well written and the book flows so well. The ending fell a LITTLE short for me, but I think its because it was setting itself up for a sequel, so Im not judging it too harshly. Overall, amazing read and I highly recommend!

Title: The Perfect Nurse by Daniel Hurst

Release Date: July, 1st, 2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Stars

In The Perfect Nurse, Daniel Hurst delivers a gripping psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Darcy appears to be the epitome of a good nurse: diligent, professional, and caring. But behind the crisp white uniform and clean hands lies a woman who has done something unspeakable.

She has broken the sacred rules of nursing and taken a life. Now, she is haunted by her actions, constantly looking over her shoulder, fearing that her dark secret will be exposed.

As her paranoia grows, her home is broken into, signalling that her troubles are far from over.

Darcy must now navigate a series of twists and turns, questioning whom she can trust and whether she will need to kill again to protect herself.

What I Liked:

* Compelling Protagonist: Darcy is a fascinating character whose internal struggle and paranoia make her both relatable and intriguing. Her descent into fear and desperation is well-crafted and had me hooked from the first page. Her persona makes you question, what would you do in her situation?

* Twists and Turns: The plot is full of unexpected twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the story takes another surprising direction. So many twists and turns that I didn’t have time to recover from the previous one!

* Fast-Paced Narrative: The book’s pacing is great, making it a real page-turner. I couldn’t put it down and ended up reading it all in one sitting.

* Engaging Writing Style: Daniel Hurst’s writing style is easy and engaging, drawing you into Darcy’s world and keeping you hooked until the very end.

* Psychological Depth: The exploration of Darcy’s psyche and the moral ambiguities she faces add depth to the story, making it more than just a simple thriller. The psychological depth kept me intrigued and questioning many things and scenarios along the way, in a good way!

The Perfect Nurse is a thrilling ride that delves into the dark side of human nature and the lengths one might go to in order to protect a secret.

If you enjoy psychological thrillers with complex characters and a plot that keeps you guessing, this book is a must-read.

Thank you to The Publisher Bookouture ,The Author Daniel Hurst & NetGalley for an advanced reader copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review.

Daniel Hurst killed it again with this book. At first, I thought it was going a whole other route but a surprise plot twist was thrown in there. I really enjoyed it!

2.5 stars. The beginning did drag a bit, but started to pick up about half way through the book. The twists were just okay.

The start of the book feels like mixing "Verity" with "Shutter Island" – imagine those two top-rated stories rolled into one. It's like a match made in heaven. I'm a sucker for protagonists you can't quite trust, which keeps things interesting. Even when I thought I had the plot figured out after a twist halfway through, I was dead wrong. There were plenty more surprises waiting till the end. The story flows so smoothly and keeps you hooked, but that's no shocker – Hurst's got a solid fan base on Kindle Unlimited for a reason. I'm so pumped to check out more of his books! waves to the backlist Hey there! 👋 Can't wait to see what other awesome stories are waiting for me.

Thanks Netgalley!

First in a new series by the author

We meet Darcy as she is burning her uniform and no longer wanting to be a nurse and the story then takes us through why she has come to this place in her life…..and what a story it is

The people Darcy has been charged to care for are not as they seem and she is determined to prove this even when her nursing bestie is trying to dissuade her…what she discovers not only shocks her but takes her life in a complicated direction…I shall say no more

Its typical Daniel Hurst with twists that start and then multiply and a story that keeps you turning that ‘just one more page’

This author for me cannot write a bad book, occasionally you have to maybe suspend belief a bit but that’s cool, its fiction

Fans will as we do love it

There are few books that are more entertaining than Daniel Hurst’s and The Perfect Nurse is no exception. This fast paced thriller has a slightly different style to his previous books and I thoroughly enjoyed the writing. The midpoint twist left me gasping! I raced through this novel and enjoyed every moment.

Thank you to Daniel Hurst, Bookouture and Netgalley for my advance copy.

Such a twisty thriller! I always look forward to a new Hurst book. If you're a fan of Freida McFadden, his writing style is very similar and I always fly through his books. This wasn't my favorite of his, but I still enjoyed the plot and was surprised by the ending.

Wow, the twists and turns in this book kept me wanting to just keep reading it. I finished it in about 36 hours. It would have been sooner if I had more time to read it the day I started it. It was unlike any other psychological thriller that I’ve read and different from Daniel Hurst’s other books. Darcy is a character that I’d love to see in future books. If you’re looking for a good psychological thriller, this is a great one!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to review this book prior to publication.

Holy Guacamole where do I even begin with this book. I will say I was really captivated in the beginning and then found myself saying that this would never happen in real life as I am a nurse. Once I pushed passed that and continued, I was not expecting all of the twists and turns this book took me through. I will say one aspect of the book was predictable. I guessed about 10-20% of the way in. However, when I read "flask of coffee" I totally thought that was sketchy and had absolutely nothing to do with the story line. I found myself trying to guess what would happen next and not being able to put the book down. I am normally not a thriller girlie but this did give me some Verity vibes and I did enjoy it. I have already recommended this book to several people and will continue to do so. Thank you netgalley and Daniel Hurst for allowing me to read this book!

This is the first book I've read by Daniel Hurst and I really enjoyed it! I wasn't expecting any of the twists and each one kept me guessing and exceeded my expectations. I got through this very quickly as I was intrigued to find out more.

I will definitely pick up some more books by this author and glad to see The Perfect Nurse will be the first in a series. It will be interesting to see where Darcy goes next...

Thankyou NetGalley for this ARC! 🥰

This is the 3rd Daniel Hurst book that I’ve read and he’s quickly become one of my favourite authors. This book is full of mystery and a bit tense at times. I didn’t see either of the twists coming and the one in the middle of the book had my jaw on the floor. Hurst gives me major McFadden vibes and I’m here for it. Highly recommend The Perfect Nurse and I can’t wait to read more of his books!

4 ⭐️ - this might be my fav thriller i’ve read so far this year! ignore the synopsis, i really don’t think it accurately describes the book. this was sooooo good! i ate it up and could not put it down! i would rate it higher but i would say 63ish% to 78ish% it slowed down a bit, but other than that it was so good! highly recommend!
