4🌟!! Okay this had me HOOKED!!!!!! Plot twist after plot twist after plot twist. I literally read this in one sitting I could not put it down. It was so fast paced and addictive. Honestly I couldn’t predict any of the twists and that had me on the edge of my seat. The writing was very easy to understand and flowed super well. The first 30ish% was a tad bit slower however after that the pacing was go go go and I loved that. I will say i’m not a huge fan of the ending it felt very rushed and abrupt within the last 10-15% and I feel like there were a few unanswered questions. Apart from that I really thoroughly enjoyed this and I highly recommend. Thank you to Daniel Hurst, Bookouture, and Netgalley for this ARC. The Perfect Nurse will be published on July 1st!!

Just love this author and think I’ve read all his books! Where do I start with the perfect nurse….. Absolutely fantastic, unputdownable… Kept me on the edge of my seat and then on the edge of my bed until late at night as I just could not put it down!!!… Perfect…

4⭐️ I enjoyed this fast paced thriller about a nurse who goes to work for a wealthy couple and starts to suspect there is something not quite right. But she doesn’t have any idea what is really happening and neither did I. I thought this was going to predictable but I was wrong. I did guess one part but it was almost 75% through at that point so I don’t feel like that really counts. This was well done! I enjoyed the plot line but I feel like I didn’t really get to know the characters very well. Other than that, I loved it!
Thank you to Net Galley, Daniel Hurst, and Bookouture for my advanced e-copy in exchange for my honest review!

A great read that does not disappoint.
A twisty thriller that I thought was going one way, but then completely changed direction

I was not expecting that!
The prologue immediately captivated my attention, and I was immediately hooked. Darcy is burning her nursing uniform and ID card. The uniform is stained with blood, and it has to be done.
Back to present day and Darcy is a nurse who is mildly anxious and has a terrible time sleeping, making her rely on sleeping medications and always kind of in a fog. Pippa is her work friend who guides her along their day-to-day nursing duties.
Darcy and Pippa are assigned to a married couple Adrian and Scarlett. After hearing Scarletts story of a head injury after slipping and falling in the home, Darcy is immediately uncomfortable and senses something just is not right.
After meeting this family and even questioning the safety of Scarlett, Darcy finds herself being followed and from there her life continues to take a turn for the worse.
This was a quick and easy read. The storyline was realistic, and the twists were unexpected.
I enjoyed this quite a bit.
Thank you, Daniel Hurst, Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another great story from Daniel Hurst! I find his books so easy to read and so compelling. The twist about half way through this book left me gobsmacked as I can usually predict what's coming next but I did not expect that! The only thing I wasn't so keen on was the ending, I like things wrapped up on ending and I felt there were a few loose ends but that doesn't take away from the fact how good this story is.

I am a big fan of Daniel Hurst's books, so I was thrilled to be able to review this one –
The Perfect Nurse is a typical Daniel Hurst book – starts out slow and I was wondering where the story was going to go and why everyone seems so “normal”. Then bang...twists and turns from about halfway through the reveals start and they don’t stop. I couldn’t get through this one fast enough to see what happened to Darcy, Pippa, Adrian, and Scarlett.

I read this book in one sitting! I had to know what was going on! I couldn’t put it down. This story follows Darcy and Pippa who are nurses and are caring for a woman in her mansion who had a fall in her kitchen to give the husband some breathing room from caring for her. But Darcy feels like something just isn’t right with this couple. Is the husband abusing her? Did she really fall? Is she really as incapacitated as she seems?
This book had a lot of twists. Some I was able to guess and others I wasn’t and some situations that I honestly believe the story would have been better without; such as the ending. I enjoyed the story immensely and thought it had a very unique plot but I just wasn’t a fan of the end. However, it was still a solid thriller for me and I appreciate the early reading eligibility from Net Galley.

The perfect nurse by Daniel hurst
Darcy is a nurse that assists people in their home for home care. Her good friend Pippa comes to collect her before her work in the mornings with coffee. Darcy is a devoted nurse who is constantly looking over her shoulder because as of lately someone has been breaking into her home and snooping around, not only at night but while she is away.
She is suspicious about the new patient that she has been assigned to as things aren’t as they seem. Darcy is questioning the patient and her need for in home healthcare.
This book was an absolute page turner and so suspenseful. I loved every moment of it! Again Daniel hurst has gotten my attention! Wow!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture!

Great twist in the middle. Definitely kept me hooked. But at the end it just became predictable and drawn out.

“The Perfect Nurse” is the first in a new thriller/mystery series by Daniel Hurst. I’ve read a number of Mr. Hurst’s books before and while I’m used to suspending belief a little bit, I had to do a lot of suspending belief in this book. I’m also used to authors not knowing deep medical procedures (online research can only take you so far) but in this book the nursing care at times seemed surface at best. This book, basically, felt like two separate stories glommed together - the main female character, Darcy, is a private palliative care nurse in the Chicago area. She and a co-worker are hired to give in-house care to a woman with severe memory issues. Things are kinda swimming along and then there’s a twist … granted, I didn’t see that twist coming, but the twist after the twist I felt was like a completely different story. While this book takes place in Chicago, it felt like Mr. Hurst (who is British) forgot that because the word choice Darcy and the others use sounded more British than American. I must admit, I didn’t really feel sympathy for any of the characters in this book - maybe the co-worker’s child. Darcy is too odd - she wants to be a “perfect nurse,” she hugs her patient’s husband very quickly after meeting him, and she takes taxis opposed to Ubers yet complains about not being paid much (the complaining about money I found extremely repetitive). When the final twist came, I realized it tied back to the prologue, but I’d almost forgotten all about the prologue that it felt rather anti-climatic. I think if one likes books about nursing, then maybe the first half of this book is one you might enjoy (though probably not if you actually are in the medical field). If you enjoy Mr. Hurst’s other books, you may also enjoy this one. I think I’ll give this series a pass, but I will look forward to his next book.

Another fantastic book by Daniel Hurst, I was so excited to read The Perfect Nurse, and it did not disappoint, it was full of suspense, I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough.

Darcy is a nurse that takes care of people in their homes. She works with nurse Pippa taking care of Scarlett who has memory issues from an accident and is married to Adrian. From the beginning of this job, Darcy feels as if something is off in Adrian and Scarlett’s house. THEN they ask her personally to start staying the night to spend even more time taking care of Scarlett. This couple is keeping a secret they hope will be for the good of everyone involved, and then they come clean.
This book is full of lies, scheming, murder, "stalking", ghosts from the past, family secrets, break ins, sleepless nights, and more. I did NOT expect the twists, at all. I was kept on the edge of my seat reading this book in less than 24 hours. At the end, I was left wanting more. I will have to read the second book!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.

As always Daniel has written a suspenseful, twisty, rollercoaster book. I love his books and this one is just as good as his others
A definite recommend.
Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley.

In "The Perfect Nurse," Daniel Hurst delivers a gripping and intense psychological thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The novel follows the story of Darcy, a seemingly ordinary nurse whose dark secrets and inner turmoil threaten to unravel her carefully constructed facade.
Hurst's masterful storytelling draws readers into Darcy's complex and troubled mind, as she navigates the consequences of a terrible act she committed. The author skillfully explores the psychological depths of his protagonist, creating a character who is both sympathetic and unnerving.
As the narrative unfolds, Hurst maintains a palpable sense of tension and suspense, keeping readers guessing at every turn. The novel's twists and turns are expertly crafted, revealing layer after layer of Darcy's past and the motivations behind her actions.
"The Perfect Nurse" is a page-turner in every sense of the word, with a plot that is as thrilling as it is emotionally resonant. Some twists fell a bit flat but wanting to find out the answers to the secrets will keep you turning.

Can I just say wow! This book was amazing. Full of twists and turns throughout the entire book. You may think you have it figured it out, but I can guarantee you don’t. I read this in just a few hours because I couldn’t put it down. The characters are interesting, the plot fantastic and the ending is amazing.
Thank you NetGalley and the published for the ARC. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Thank you so much to BookOuture and NetGalley for the ARC for The Perfect Nurse.
This is my first read by Daniel Hurst, and now I know why everyone loves his books! This book was a quick read for me-- fast paced, so many twists and turns, and written very well. I love a book that I can breeze through and want to keep reading to find out what happens next, and this book was just that. I was totally sucked it at the first twist and it just kept getting better. The ending twist really was the cherry on top. I will definitely be adding more Daniel Hurst books to my TBR list! This book was also listed as #1, so I can't wait to see what #2 has in store!

Daniel has knocked it out of the park again! I've enjoyed everything I've read by him so far, and this book was no exception. Filled with twists and turns, I had no idea how everything would play out for Darcy. I was gripped from the first chapter, and read the entire book very quickly. It was really hard to put down! I highly recommend this book (and others) from this author!

Another brilliant book from one of my favourite authors who never disappoints
The storyline was excellent with good characters and it was a fast paced thriller with a great ending.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.

Interesting premise but slow to build the story line. Chapters are short so it felt like a quick read. Predictable twist I figured out early on. While the first 60% or so was slow, the last 40% was fast and filled with so much twists. I feel like maybe an epilogue a little in the future would have answered some questions and gave an update as to what everyone has been up to.
Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Daniel Hurst for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Publication date for The Perfect Nurse is July 1, 2024.
