This was a quick light weight thriller. You did not suspect what was truly going on with Darcy until the half way mark of the book and then it pulled you in and you wanted to learn what happened and if there was going to be a solution. This made since how Pippa was so familiar with Darcy and her house. The story was not repeat I’ve at all and was a truly enjoyable book.

What a great story! I loved this.
The synopsis may throw you off a bit, but the plot and how quickly it progresses makes up for it. It has great twists, none of which I predicted! The only thing I’d like to point out is it feels like two different stories, The first half is about a nurse suspecting something is wrong with the couple she’s attending. And the second half is a mystery thriller, slightly disconnected in characters and plot, only slightly relating to the synopsis. It disappointed me a bit, I found the first half much more interesting,
However, I love how simplistic Hurst’s writing style is, and it was a quick fun read.

Is the nurse the victim? Or is she the criminal? I was an ARC Reader for this book, and I could not put it down! This psychological thriller made brain spin! Just when I thought I knew what was going on, I was completely blind sided, AGAIN! I really felt as if I was right there with Darcy experiencing her every emotion. What a great story!

As a private nurse, Darcy has seen a lot. Maybe too much. Her latest gig gives her the willies. Should she trust her instincts or just get on with the job? As we follow Darcy in this adventure, she ends up with more than any of us bargained for. The pages flew by as I wanted to find out what happened next. Will you be the next person to follow Darcy?

Darcy works as a nurse in the Private sector, she is employed with her colleague Pippa to care for Scarlett who is a retired nurse suffering from brain damage following an accident at home.
Darcy immediately sense their is more to the story, she is sure that the husband Aiden has caused the accident and starts to dig for more information.
While trying to uncover the truth her own life seems to be falling apart. She’s often late for work, Pippa covers for her frantic behaviour like the good friend she is. She also gets followed home and then disturbs someone breaking into her home……are there any links to her new job and her personal life.
The build up to the plot twist was so good, I was constantly questioning what could possibly be going on. The twists and turns were totally unexpected and it all made so much sense but then more twists which I could never have seen coming.
I really enjoyed this and would highly recommend.
Thank you NetGalley, the Daniel Hurst and the Bookouture for this ARC, all opinions expressed are my own.

My favorite of any roller coaster is the slow climb right before the big drop. There’s that moment of hesitation as the car reaches the apex when you know something is about to happen, so you hold on tight and prepare for the thrill. In THE PERFECT NURSE, Daniel Hurst uses that technique to build the tension before surprising the reader with the unexpected.

There are a couple of major plot twists and plenty of reveals throughout the story. After a tension-filled slow start, the pace quickens and the action moves quickly.

One minor quibble - The book is set in Chicago, yet the writing does not seem to match. It has a distinctly British feel which I found inauthentic to the storyline.

Overall, this was a quick, entertaining read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the chance to read this advance copy in exchange for my unbiased review.

Daniel Hurst weaves a tale of unease and intrigue in The Perfect Nurse. Our narrator is unreliable and unstable, which is always entertaining in a mystery novel.

It took me a few chapters but I really got into the novel! The first half built up to a certain twist that I didn't see coming but made sense. I had so many theories, but it genuinely shocked me.
But that sense of unease remained in the second half due to the dreaded prologue. And it built up to an interesting conclusion. It concluded quite well and did leave the door open for a potential sequel.

I admit, I enjoyed the first half better than the second half. The second half's twist didn't seem as impactful.
But overall, it was a pretty solid read. Thank you so much, to Bookouture, Daniel Hurst and NetGallery for the ARC, these are my honest thoughts

Darcy takes a job with Pippa. They are to care for a woman who has memory problems due to an injury. Darcy feels like something is off about the house and the husband right away.

I surely did not see the twist coming. It made some previous behavior make much more sense. and changed how I viewed one of the characters.

I loved this one from start to finish. A little slow getting started but oh boy that was made up for.

I can't say much without giving away a lot of the story.

Can't wait for the sequel.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

I’m becoming a Dianel Hurst fan! This thriller might start off a little slow but it picks up fast and the big twist halfway through the book shocked me! This is the kind of book where you keep saying “just one more chapter” and next thing you know you finished it in one setting.

Easy and fun read, with unpredictable and crazy twists, murder and betrayal… I thought I knew which direction the plot was going to take but I was totally wrong, I can’t wait to read the next of the series.

Thank you Daniel Hurst, Bookouture & NetGalley for an e-ARC copy.

HOLD THE FRONT PAGE! This is my FAVOURITE Daniel Hurst book to date! Absolutely fantastic!

Nurses Darcy and Pippa take on the care of a new patient, Scarlett, who suffered a brain injury in an accident. Darcy quickly becomes suspicious of Scarlett's husband, Adrian, but she can't really put her finger on what is triggering her suspicion. When Darcy is followed at night and then discovers someone has been in her home, she fears there is a link between these events and the wealthy couple she is working for.

I had no idea of how this was going to play out and I could never have predicted it to go the way it did. So many absolutely jaw-dropping moments, that snatched my breath away as the tension built to an explosive finale. Just. WOW!

I cannot WAIT for the next one in this brilliant new series.

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Daniel always seems to wow my reading experience and blow my twisty mind and this latest psychological thriller and the first in a new series is another to add to that list.
The Perfect Nurse is an addictive, crazy and gasp worthy read.
Darcy Miller is a nurse.
Herself and colleague, Pippa are assigned a caring job for a wealthy couple.
The wife had an unfortunate accident and now suffers from loss of memory.
But nothing is quite clear cut….
Darcy is suspicious and begins investigating.
She soon discovers there’s a lot more going on than it seems…
Daniel is known for that unexpected twist and mind blowing ending and in this tale he does just that and then some.
It will leave you yearning for more.
A great plot, many suspicious characters and a very agreeable finale.
Unique, explosive quick page flipping book and an absolute must read author.
And remember The Nurse will be back in the next book.

From the start of this one I could just sense that something wasn't right. I had to keep reading to find out more and before I knew it I had come to the conclusion. A incredibly pacy, twisty physcological thriller that blew my mind away. It's non stop twists had my nerves wracked as I held my breath waiting for the most explosive ending. The synopsis of this does not do it justice.

"The Perfect Nurse” by Daniel Hurst is a compelling and unsettling read that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The story follows two nurses, Darcy and Pippa, who are assigned to care for a wealthy man’s wife. She’s suffered a fall and now has memory loss, but nothing is as simple as it seems.

Darcy's internal struggles captivated me, and the unexpected twists kept me coming back for more!

Hurst's writing is both engaging and suspenseful, with a pacing that ensures the tension never wanes.

Daniel Hurst has crafted a novel that not only entertains but also provokes thought about the darker aspects of human nature and the masks people wear. If you’re a fan of heart-racing suspense, this book won’t disappoint!

The Perfect Nurse is another psychological thriller by Daniel Hurst that will keep you up all night.

Darcy is a nurse working for a private company. She and a fellow nurse, Pippa are assigned to a house owned by Adrian and his wife Scarlett. Adrian was a former medical director and Scarlett was a former nurse. Scarlett had recently fell down and knocked her head on the countertop, causing Adrian to seek nurse attention on Scarlett. As Darcy starts working for the couple, she realizes that the couple are hiding a secret. Darcy also has a trouble time sleeping as she believes that someone was stalking her and is entering into her house while she was sleeping...

This was actually a good thriller. It was a page turning thriller and also quiet unputdownable too. There were some twists and turns along the way, the greatest twist was revealed by the end of the book. The twist at that ending was unexpected which I like in a psychological thriller as it wasn't very predictable as I thought it was going to be. However, the only problem I had was how unrealistic the whole thriller was but despite that, I actually enjoyed reading this book and couldn't actually put the book down. In fact, there is a second book coming out soon which I cannot wait to read as I am waiting to see what is going to happen next to Darcy in the end!

This was a good thriller but having read The Family Trip by the same author, I would say this wasn't as great as the Family Trip. Nonetheless, this was a fast paced thriller that will actually keep you up all night--worth four stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

I really do enjoy a good thriller, particularly ones with the suspension of disbelief just outside of reach of reality. This book, however, didn't quite hit the spot for me. I can't say too much without ruining the entire substance of the story, but I did find that the major twist in this story was a bit too much. The start of the book also had an incredibly long run-up, and I was left feeling like the twist of the story was not explained as well as it could have been.

This also really didn't feel like the start of a series. I didn't get invested enough in the character of Darcy from the way that she was written, and unfortunately I can't really see myself following this story further. I don't think there was anyone in this book who I connected to or genuinely liked, which did make it a bit of a tough read. Some of the characters also did things that didn't suit their eventual position in the story

For those who are able to completely suspend their perception of reality for the duration of a book, and those who are into books where you REALLY won't see the twist coming, this book may be for you. Unfortunately though, it wasn't for me.

Absolute loved this one! One of my favourites. Brilliant storyline and characters! Hursts books are brilliant and his writing is a joy to read. Did not see the twists and turns coming.

Listen this book had the thriller/mystery in it. I had all sorts of plots in my head and was totally wrong till the end. Once I got passed half way through the book i was hooked and could not stop reading, The end did want me knowing more?! Like what happened to Edna? Is she going to black mail her ex best friend. Overall good read

Darcy is an ordinary nurse. She just got a new job with her friend, Pippa, taking care of a Adrian's (a wealthy man) wife, Suzette, in their private home. Suzette slipped and fell in her kitchen a while ago, and she's not doing any better even if all of her tests come back normal. But as Darcy spends time with them, she realizes that all is not as it should be. Did Adrian hurt her or was it just a freak accident? Is she really having health issues, or is she faking? The more Darcy tries to unveil the truth, the more she's scared for herself and the safekeeping of her own dark secret...
This psychological thriller is book 1 in the Perfect Nurse trilogy. As per usual in his last books, I find the paragraphs to be way too long for a thriller, it kills the pace and makes it drag, and there is way too much foreshadowing. I don't mind a bit of foreshadowing, but when you hint to the same thing in roughly the same way at the end of every paragraph, it kills the effect it's supposed to have and just has me rolling my eyes so hard it hurts. The pace started picking up at around the halfway mark, which was good, but also way too late for a thriller, that needs to drag me right in from the start. I really feel like the first and second halves of the story were two completely different books. Also, I was really annoyed by the way the police treated Darcy both times they called them because someone broke into her house. They didn't treat her seriously and bordeline made fun of her to her face. Past the 50% mark there are a lot of (too many?) twists and turns, but I enjoyed the ride. The ending felt kind of abrupt, but I'm guessing things will be resolved in book 2.
I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review vountarily.

What would life be like if you could not recognise your own parents and what lengths will parents go to for the children. Two points that are key to this latest book from my favourite author. I believe this is the 43rd book by Daniel Hurst I have read in the last 18 months. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to ARC this book.
