this book took me by surprise! you can say i was hooked from the very first chapter and i just flew through the pages <3
i loved Tabby and Toby’s relationship. it was definitely a bit unusual the way Toby tried to make himself deserving of Tabby, but the man actually went and changed his whole life to be with Tabby at the end. this is was my first book by Eve Dangerfield, and i had a blast! i look forward to reading more books by this author! highly recommend!
thank you netgalley and Eve Dangerfield for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review! <3
This is my first book by the author and series and I was not disappointed. Loved reading this one. Going to finish the other books in the series.
Eve Dangerfield and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review
Read this one because I enjoyed the first two and I am nothing if not a completist. I didn't love Toby or Tabby as side characters previously and having them as main characters didn't change that unfortunately. Add in Noah and Nicole's super depressing plotline and my least favorite trope popping up, I just did not care for this one.
I didn't think we'd get this book and to be honest, I wasn't expecting this story with this couple. When I read the summary I almost passed it up because it just sounded so wrong to me and like a story I really wouldn't enjoy. But I trust Eve Dangerfiled in everything so I just jumped in and I'm SO glad I did because this was a perfect book. It had all the angst and emotional mosaicism I'm looking for in a book. This is a must read.
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the characters and thought the character development was well done. The role playing was a bit overdone at times, but overall it was a good story.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!
This spicy story about second chance and falling for your best friend will not let you dry, but rather hot and crying. This one is an interesting story with great characters and a lot of family drama. Both Taaby and Toby are unique and have their own issues. But that makes the story spicy interesting and easy to read.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgalley
Tabby DaSilva was in fact NOT looking for a man in finance (...trust fund...6,5...blue eyes...), but that's what her best friend transformed into after she took his virginity: the ultimate finance douche.
Little does she know everything Toby has done has been all for her. Following the characters as they navigate their friends to enemies to lovers arc was so fun. The communication, scorching hot role play, finding family and community has been such a pleasure. I've LOLed, I've cried and blushed 🔥.
As I find typical with Eve's books, the characters are insanely real, there's some great anti-shame stuff around sexuality, and insanely hot scenes.
I haven't read the first two books but will be doing that right now!!
Eve Dangerfield is a specific cup of tea and I've realized I land in the middle. Are they my FAVORITE books, nope. Are they fun? Hell yes. Her books are always a cooky, and depraved ride and you know what... I'm not mad at it! This is the last book of a series and to be fair, I didn't read any of the previous ones and was never lost.
Super fast summary:
Tabby is the youngest of the DaSilva sisters and the labeled 'irresponsible one'. Toby is the geeky fifth wheel that has been harboring a love for Tabby for years but is very much in the 'friend zone'...until one night! Toby realizes that Tabby will never see a future with him if he doesn't change his life around and decides to make the super mature decision to vanish. Two years later, he is back and expecting Tabby to fall head of heels for Toby version 2.0. Shocker: she's not but she needs money and he's rich so they strike up a sex deal. Lots of sexy time followed by HEA.
Thank you #NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Nobody does it like Eve Dangerfield, she just writes really unique stories and writes such interesting relationship dynamics. I was very curious to see how Toby and Tabby would go from friends to enemies to lovers and their arc along with the wrap up of the Silver Daughters series was just so perfect. Good for people who like banter, high heat, messy family dynamics, and personal growth.
This is my first book from Eve Dangerfield and not only will it not be my last but I now need to read every single thing she has ever written. Not only is this book dirty as hell but it’s so beautifully mixed with raw emotions that I’m gobsmacked. She is an artist.
Our hero is a virgin until the girl he has been crushing on forever says that she will be his first. However, afterwards he feels the need to make something out of himself to be worthy of her and to make her take notice. Fast forward a couple of years and our heroine cannot get him out of her head while being absolutely furious that he ghosted her….. A chance encounter puts them back in each other’s orbit and from there…. well let’s just say you aren’t ready for how steamy it gets.
The characters (including secondary) all had such incredible depth in them that I was honestly shocked from a book that I thought would be all steam. I loved the rawness and the imperfections of everyone and this love story was well and truly earned. The author’s voice is definitely strong that is loud and brash, and I am now addicted. Can’t wait to read more!
Tabitha DaSilva is the youngest of three daughters who’s mothers left when Tabitha was very young; their dad Edgar left many years later in order to allow the girls to grow without the burden of appeasing him.
Toby Tennant has also been in love with Tabby and during a drunken birthday bash for Tabby’s twin sisters - Tabby pops Toby’s cherry in a mind-blowing hours long adventure. Toby never left good enough for her so afterwards he ghosted her to become rich and “experienced”
A couple years later Tabby runs into Toby and they both feel a pull to each other. Toby finally convinces Tabby to do a tattoo off book for several thousand dollars.
But the time together while getting tattooed was not enough for Toby. Since Tabby brought up getting a sugar daddy that one night - He offered to pay for her time with gifts and spa treatments… Ultimately they both realize that they love the other and always have but still can’t tell each other
The book is hot and steamy and full of kink… i will definitely have to read books 1 and 2 but this is definitely not required to love this book!
Eve you really understood the assignment. This book was so good I def will be looking into this author more. Who doesn't love a spicy book!!!! also this book is a stand alone book but there are others in the series. And you best believe I will be reading it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Eve Dangerfield for this ARC!
While I don't think I've read the other books in this series, I am familiar with Eve Dangerfield's work as a writer of incredibly steamy romances with usually alpha-male characters and a healthy dash of kink. So Hectic did not disappoint on all these fronts. We follow the youngest sister of the Silver Daughters Ink series, Tabby, who's always been beautiful and aware of it, until her career and life begins to fall apart in bits and pieces. Our hero, Toby, was once this shy virginal hero who desperately loved Tabby from afar, but felt like he need to change his life to be worthy of her.
And so, we get the best of two worlds: an utter simp with billionaire money (jabs at crypto) who spoils Tabby and helps her regain her self esteem, and a man who knows exactly what he wants in bed, very dominant, and who knows what he likes. I love that we have a virgin hero for once! The tension continues to build as Tabby is still a bit hurt over Toby's rejection, while from Toby's perspective, you see how he pined over her and changed his entire life to win her back - and that miscommunication trope does last a little longer than I personally prefer in these novels, but I think, in fairness, really ups the ante and adds to the steam. This is also a book where you're going to have to accept Toby, our pining hero, did not remain chaste while working his way up in the finance/billionaire world. Both our characters love sex so much though that this may have been slightly unbelievable anyway. Plus, the sex scenes we get between the two do NOT disappoint. Healthy dosage of kink with a little bit of a cuckholding trope thrown in - regardless, I'm not sure that I would ever pick up an Eve Dangerfield book based on the tropes (I'm always like hm, do I like that?) and then fully end up enjoying it regardless.
The stronger the feelings the scarier the ride. A rollercoaster of feels in a tight family, and between two who just seem to always have crossed messages. A journey of self discovery brings everything home, to family by blood and found. A very engaging and satisfying read.
So Hectic by Eve Dangerfield is the third in the series and is the story of Tabby and Toby.
I really enjoyed the first two books and have been looking forward to this book. I wish I had been able to get into this book the way that I did the first two.
Toby has never felt good enough for Tabby and after an initial "get together" he changes his persona and then comes back into her life. It's not an improvement in my opinion and the "old" Toby was better.
Despite really great spicy scenes, I never really liked Toby and thought that Tabby deserved better.
I wasn't able to get past my dislike of Toby for most of the story, so I may be skewed in my opinion of the book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this book. It was written well, but just not my cup of tea. I'm never a fan of a complete change in personality to win over someone else.
Admittedly, I didn't like either main character and I was so curious to see how they would get to their HEA. Tabby seemed so ... flighty and immature. Selfish, even. Toby ... I didn't know how to feel about Toby for so long. I didn't like his personality or his thoughts. I'd read and think "this is not my kind of guy". I don't think I would have ever turned the corner on him at all if his POV wasn't offered, sometimes knowing his intent I was so glad when someone finally called him on his shit and told him exactly how it was and who he was because I agreed with every word of it.
I was not thrilled with how it ended, although I saw it coming. Just a trope I don't enjoy but made sense for the trajectory of their relationship. Had it not been a book I wouldn't think they'd actually last. I found it odd that once the story turned, their kinks disappeared entirely. Maybe be a little gentler, sure, but seemed unnecessary to lose them altogether.
This is not my first Eve Dangerfield book but is my first from this series. While I didn't love this, I was particularly interested in the other sisters so I will be going backwards and reading their love stories as well.
Umm, yes please!! This was soo good! Plot was entertaining and kept thing’s moving along nicely. A little spice here and there was nice too. All in all, a great book.
*Although I got a copy for free through the author my opinions are my own*
Tabby is so chaotic I loved her character and her journey of figuring out her life.
Tobyyyyyyyy, he is such a simp it was the most adorable thing ever, where is a man who will get rich for me???
also... the spice?!?!
um Eve Dangerfield, you had me dying, the spice was top noch amazing.
I would definitely recommend!
i'm off to read the first two books now ;)
Eve Dangerfield is one of a handful of authors who really uses sex in a really smart way in her books. I wasn't 100% compelled by Toby's characterization at all times, but this was a fun conclusion to the series and makes me want to read more books set in Australia.
So Hectic was 100% worth the wait! I highly recommend that you do a quick reread of Sam & Nicoles books first as a refreshers, at least if your memory is as spotty as mine!
First off, this book was hot AF. Our Toby has grown up and is a dirty bird. Secondly, I was not prepared for all of the emotions I felt alongside these characters. The despair, anguish, love, and frustration was palpable. Make sure you're ready for that before you get started.
There weren't trigger warnings in my ARC, but be aware that there is an accidental pregnancy and multiple miscarriages on page.
5/5 Stars
